1.Influences of water supply sources of dental comprehensive treatment platform on intra-pipeline water quality

Objective To investigate the impacts of water supply on water quality in the pipeline of the dental comprehensive treatment platform to contribute to pollution control.Methods Totally 8 platforms from the stomatological department underwent 2-a detection and tracing.The water sources included tap water,distilled water and filtered water,and the discharge water went through sampling and bacteriological analysis before and after disinfection.Results The mean numbers of colonies by tap water,distilled water and filtered water were (472±385),(380±372) and (446±382) cfu/ml respectively,and the qualification rates by tap water,distilled water and filtered water were 33.3%,45.8% and 37.5% respectively.All the colonies numbers were limited within 0 and 60 cfu/ml with the qualification rate being 100% after disinfection.Conclusion Water source cannot relieve bacterial infection effectively,and disinfection eliminates bacteria and improves water quality in the pipeline of the dental comprehensive treatment platform.

Fifteen patients with spasticity were treated by phenol blocks. The results are satisfactory.Phenol blocks has the advantages of high selectivity,few side-effects and low cost. The anthor recommends that phenol blocks could be used in clinical antispasticity treatment.

Presented in this paper is a report on the Quadriplegia Index of Function(QIF) in usewith 16 cases of quadriplegic patients.Compared with the Barthel Index and Japan ADL Scale,QIF wasfound to be more sensitive and effective to document the small but significant funtional gains made byquadriplegics during medical rehabilitation,therefore,authors suggest that QIF should be widely usedin the rehabilitation evaluation of quadriplegic patients.
4.Abnormal shift of connexin 43 gap-junction protein induced by 50 Hz electromagnetic fields in Chinese hamster lung cells.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of extremely low frequency magnetic fields(ELF MF) on the amount and localization of connexin 43(Cx43) gap-junction protein in the Chinese hamster lung(CHL) cells, and to explore the mechanism of ELF MF suppression on gap-junctional intercellular communication(GJIC).
METHODSThe cells were irradiated for 24 h with 50 Hz sinusoidal magnetic field at 0.8 mT without or with 12-O-tetrade-canoylphorbol-3-acetate(TPA), 5 ng/ml for 1 h. The localization of Cx43 proteins were performed by indirect immunofluorescence histochemical analysis and detected by confocal microscopy. The second experiment was conducted to examine the quantity of Cx43 proteins level in nuclei or cytoplasm and detected by Western blotting analysis.
RESULTSThe cells exposed to TPA for 1 h displayed less bright labelled spots in the regions of intercellular junction than the normal cells. Most of Cx43 labelled spots occurred in the cytoplasm and aggregated near the nuclei. At the same time, the amount of Cx43 protein in cytoplasm were increased[(2.03 +/- 0.89) in ELF group, (2.43 +/- 0.82) in TPA group] as compared to normal control(1.04 +/- 0.17) (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONInhibition on GJIC function by ELF MF alone or combined with TPA may be related with the shift of Cx43 from the regions of intercellular junction to the cytoplasm.

5.Pan-Cancer Analysis of DEAH-Box Helicase 16 Expression and Prognostic Significance

Objective To investigate the expression and prognostic significance of DEAH-box helicase (DHX16) by pan-cancer analysis. Methods The expression and prognostic significance of DHX16 were analyzed using the UALCAN web-portal. Gene ontology and kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes analyses of proteins interacting with DHX16 were performed using DAVID 6.8 functional annotation software. Results DHX16 was highly expressed in bladder urothelial carcinoma, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal carcinoma, liver hepatocellular carcinoma, and cholangiocarcinoma (all P < 0.001). Proteins interacting with DHX16 were located mainly in catalytic step 2 spliceosome, nucleoplasm, and cell membrane, and participated in mRNA splicing and processing, binding to poly (A) RNA and nucleic acids, and RNA helicase activity. Spliceosome, mRNA surveillance, RNA degradation, and transport pathways were implicated. Conclusion The high expression of DHX16 is helpful for the prognosis of bladder urothelial carcinoma prognosis, and unfavorable for prognoses of adrenocortical carcinoma, sarcoma, brain lower grade glioma, liver hepatocellular carcinoma, and acute myeloid leukemia. Thus, DHX16 may have value as a prognostic marker.
