ObjectiveTo study the changes of iodine uptake of the follicular thyroid carcinoma cell line (FTC-133) and nude mice bearing human follicular thyroid carcinoma after the induction with alltrans retinoic acid (ATRA),trichostatin A (TSA) or ATRA combined with TSA.MethodsAfter the induction with ATRA,TSA,or ATRA combined with TSA in different concentrations for 96 h,the iodine uptake of FTC-133 cells was observed.The concentrations for different groups were as follows:ATRA 1.0 ×10-6 mol/L(Alow group),ATRA 1.0 × 10-4 mol/L(Ahigh group),TSA 1.65 ×10-7 mol/L(T group),Alow +T group,Ahigh +T group and ethanol (control group).Cell quantities and morphology were observed by HE staining.FTC-133 cells were subcutaneously injected into nude mice.Twelve nude mice were randomly divided into 4 groups after tumor formation:ATRA group (2 mg/kg,intragastric administration),TSA group (10 mg/kg,intraperitoneal injection),combined therapy group (ATRA + TSA,the same doses as above) and saline control group (10 ml/kg,intragastric and intraperitoneal administration,respectively).Drugs were administered to the tumor-bearing mice according to the mouse body mass daily.At the 22nd day,the tumor-bearing mice were injected with 37 MBq 131I intraperitoneally.The biodistribution of 131I and gamma imaging were performed at 4,6,12 and 24 h after the injection respectively.Histopathological examinations of the tumor samples were taken after imaging completion.The results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) with SPSS 13.0.ResultsThe cellular iodine uptake were (23 885 ± 616.0 ) and ( 13 849 ±728.2) counts · min-1 · 10-6 cells in the Alow + T group and Ahigh + T group respectively,and the data were (985 ± 84.2) - ( 17 600 ± 782.7 ) counts · min-1 · 10-6 in the other groups ( F =600.879,P ＜0.001 ).The ％ ID/g of tumor at 6 h was 6.17 ±0.46 in the combined group and it increased to 9.34 ±0.61 at 12 h and 11.19 ± 0.98 at 24 h.The ％ ID/g of tumor in the other groups were from ( 1.97 ± 0.34)to (5.14 ± 0.65 ).The tumor qualities of the 4 groups were significantly different ( F =3.723,P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionThe iodine uptake of the tumor could be enhanced in the tumor-bearing mice administered with ATRA combined with TSA,a potential way for treating follicular thyroid carcinoma.

Objective To investigate the expressions of EGFR,Her-2 and VEGF in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and cervical squamous cell carcinoma,as well as its clinic value of carcinogenesis,progression and metastasis in ccrvical squamous cell carcinoma.Methods EGFR,Her-2 and VEGF were evaluated by immunohistochemistry in tissues from normal cervix,CIN and squamous cell carcinoma.Results The expressions of EGFR,Her-2 and VEGF were negative in normal cervix.The positive rate of EGFR,Her-2 and VEGF in CIN tissues were 35.0 ％ (14/40),37.5 ％ (15/40),42.5 ％ (17/40),while in cervical carcinoma tissues were 70.0 ％ (35/50),78.0 ％ (39/50),76.0 ％ (38/50) respectively,which had statistical significance.There was relationship between the expressions of EGFR,Her-2,VEGF proteins with pathological grade andlymph node metastasis of squamous cell carcinoma.The expressions of Her-2 and VEGF correlated with the clinical stage of quamous cell carcinoma.Conclusion The expressions of EGFR,Her-2 and VEGF may be correlated with the occurrence,development and metastasis of cervical carcinoma.It may be used as an important marker to evaluate the malignant degree of cervical carcinoma and it can be helpful in the treatment of cervical carcinoma.

The expression of sLea/x which correlates with conventional histopathologic parameters serves as a useful indicator for the prognosis of metastatic disease. The bindings between sLea/x and their common ligand E-selectin initiate hematogenous metastasis of cancer. Certain bioactive conformation is crucial for the interaction between sLea/x and their ligands. Thus, a new class of compounds that mimic the structures of sLea/x can potently inhibit not only their functional bindings to selectins, but also the metastasis of cancer. This review is mainly on the sLea/x molecular structure,biosynthesis,distribution, especially the relationship between sLea/x and hematogenous metastasis of cancer and the design of drugs that mimic the structures of sLea/x.

Objective To compare the effects of intramuscular or subcutaneous forearm parathyroid autotransplantation after total parathyroidectomy on patients with renal hyperparathyroidism.Methods From Jan.2012 to Dec.2013,total parathyroidectomy was carried out in 90 patients with renal hyperparathyroidism.According to the location of their parathyroid autograft,patients were divided into intramuscular group (n =39)and subcutaneous group(n =51).One patient in the intramuscular group and two in the subcutaneous group were excluded for the high levels of intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) the day after operation.iPHT was analyzed 2 weeks,1 month,3 and 6 months after surgery.Results The time of autotransplantation was significantly shorter in subcutaneous group than in intramuscular group (11.46 (2.63) min vs 22.12 (3.78) min;t =0.632,P ＜ 0.05).iPTH levels were significantly lower in subcutaneous group than in intramuscular group 2 weeks after operation (P ＜ 0.05).There was no significant difference between the 2 groups regarding iPTH levels at 1 month,3 or 6 months after surgery.In the follow-up one patient in intramuscular group and one in subcutaneous group had graft-dependent hyperparathyroidism.Conclusion As compared to intramuscular parathyroid autotransplantation,subcutaneous parathyroid autotransplantation has advantages of simpler to operate,shorter autoimplantation time and easier to autograftectomy.

Objective To compare the therapeutic effects of continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH) versus repeated intermittent veno-venous hemofiltration (RIVVH) on patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).Methods Fifty-six patients with SAP were randomly divided into the CVVH group (n =28) and the RIVVH group (n =28).The clinical symptoms and signs,the APACHE Ⅱ and MODS scores,the result of biochemistry including amylase and lipase,and the plasma levels of TNF-α,IL-6,IL8 before and after treatment,the duration of mechanical ventilation,boosting drug application time,the length of stay in ICU,the surgical intervention rate and the mortality were compared between the two groups.Results The clinical symptoms improved in the two groups after treatment (P ＜ 0.05).The APACHE Ⅱ and MODS scores were all reduced in the two groups after treatment (P ＜ 0.05).When compared with the RIVVH group,the result of biochemistry including amylase and lipase,and the plasma levels of TNF-α,IL6,IL-8 were significantly decreased (P ＜ 0.05).The duration of mechanical ventilation,the length of stay in ICU and the mortality were also significantly decreased in the CVVH group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions CVVH was more efficacious than RIVVH in the treatment of SAP.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of stereotactic biopsy in the diagnosis of the multiple intracranial lesions, and explore the operation methods, technical points and clinical experiences to reduce surgical complications. Methods Twenty-three patients in the first affiliated hospital of Kunming Medical University underwent stereotactic biopsy from January 2009 to June 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients were aged between 11 and 73 years (the mean age of 34.6 years) . There were 12 males and 11 females. Operations were performed by thin thickness of spiral CT scan, ASA-602S and Leksell-Frame-G stereotactic frame, Sedan side-cutting needle, Backlund side-cutting needle and neuroendoscope of STORZ. Routine histopathological examinations of specimens were conducted. The immunohistochemical staining of the histopathological section of specimens was performed if necessary. Results The diagnostic yield was 91.3% (21 cases) . The result of pathological diagnosis was inflammatory granuloma in 1, inflammatory lesion in 1, calcification in 1, hyperplasia of colloid cells in 6, astrocytoma in 1 (WHOⅠ-Ⅱ), astrocytoma in 2 (WHOⅡ), astrocytoma in 1 (WHOⅡ-Ⅲ), mixed oligoastrocytoma in 1 (WHOⅠ-Ⅱ), glioblastoma multiforme in 3 (WHOⅣ), germinoma in 1, brain metastases in 1, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in 1, intracranial granulomatousarteritis in 1 and negative in 2. There were no serious complications, such as coma, hemiparalysis, infection and intracranial hematoma. Conclusion Stereotactic biopsy is an important method in the diagnose of multiple intracranial lesions. It has the advantages of precise location, less damage, safe performance, and reducing the complication effectively. It is worth promoting.

Objective To evaluate the effect of continuous blood purification (CBP) on cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) type Ⅰ.Methods Clinical data of 42 patients with CRS type [at our hospital were collected from January 2012 to June 2014.We observed and compared changes in mean arterial pressure (MAP),heart rate,respiration rate,acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ score,and urinary volume before and 5 days after CBP.Meanwhile,levels of serum creatinine (Scr),cysteine proteinase inhibitor Cystatin C (CysC),serum creatinine (cTn) and B-type natriuretic peptid (BNP) were monitored.In addition,dynamic changes in cardiac index (CI),intrathoracic blood volume index (ITBI),global end-diastolic volume index (GEDI),central venous pressure (CVP),and extravascular lung water index (ELVWI) were monitored using the pulse induced contour cardic output plus monitoring system (PiCCO plus),and changes in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) before and 5 days after CBP was measured by color Doppler ultrasound.Results There was no significant difference in MAP in patients with CRS type Ⅰ before and 5 days after CBP (P=0.08).Tacbycardia and tachypnea improved,while urine volume increased and the APACHE Ⅱ score decreased significantly,5 days after CBP(allP＜0.05).Plasma levels of Scr,CysC,cTn and BNP after treatment were lower than those before treatment [(126.8±68.3) μmol/L vs.(413.6±126.1) μmol/L,(1.1±0.8) g/L vs.(4.1±1.1) g/L,(2.6±0.4) μg/L vs.(3.5± 0.7) μg/L,(807.6±427.7) ng/L vs.(3300.3±567.6) ng/L,all P＜0.05)].Myocardial contractility,cardiac preload and lung related parameters also significantly improved after CBP (allP ＜0.05).Conclusions CBP can alleviate clinical symptoms of CRS type Ⅰ,improve cardiac and renal function,and is promising as an important auxiliary measure for the treatment of patients with cardiorenal syndrome type Ⅰ.

Objective To evaluate the effect of different blood purification modes on patients with hyperlipidemic pancreatitis (HLP).Methods 28 patients with HLP in our department were enrolled into this study from January 2010 to June 2013.The patients were randomly divided into the HP/CVVH group (15 patients) and CVVH group (13 patients).The clinical symptoms and signs of the two groups were observed.The plasma levels of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8,blood triglyceride and APACHE Ⅱ score before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.The duration of mechanical ventilation,ICU stay and mortality rate were compared between the two groups.Results The clinical symptoms improved in the two groups after treatment.The plasma levels of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8,blood triglyceride and APACHE Ⅱ score were all reduced.However,the plasma levels of TNF-o,IL-6,IL-8,blood triglyceride and APACHE Ⅱ score in the HP/CVVH group were lower than the CVVH group at the same time points,showing significant differences (P ＜ 0.05).The duration of mechanical ventilation,ICU stay and mortality rate decreased in the HP/CVVH group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions HP/CVVH was more efficacious in the treatment of HLP.
