Objective To study the epidemiological features of the endemic arsenism in Hohhot of Inner Mongolia in 2004-2006 in order to get scientific evidence for the control and prevention. Methods The historical data in Huhhot revealed that 51 arsenic villages in 3 counties(Tumotezuo,Tuoketuo and Helingeer) were investigated. When arsenic content in drinking water was 0.05-0.15 mg/L,the situation of endemic arsenism was investigated in the households having high arsenic contents of water. When arsenic content in drinking water was greater than 0.15 mg/L,the survey was conducted to investigate arsenic patients with census. Census rate was not lower than 90%. Patients of endemic amenism were diagnosed by The Standard of Diagnosis for Endemic Arsenism (WS/T 211-2001). Results A total 28 083 people were examined,3978 were determined to be patients with arsenism,including 1722 being suspicious, 1897 mild,329 secondary and 30 severe. The total incidence of arsenism was 14.17% (3978/28 083),while the incidence of suspicious,mild,secondary and severe disease was 6.13% (1722/28 083) ,6.75% (1897/28 083),1.17% (329/28 083) and 0.11% (30/28 083),respectively. Suspicious and mild patients were most frequently seen. The incidence of dyspigmentation,pigmentation,ketatoses,both dyspigmentation and pigmentation and all of skin disorders was 8.65% (2428/28 083),3.19% (895/28 083),6.48% (1821/28 083),2.13%(598/28 083) and 0.94%(265/28 083),respectively. The most seen skin disorders were dyspigmentation and ketatoses. The disease mostly occurred in those aged over 40 years,the incidence was 89.52% (3561/3978). The incidence of male [15.08%(2209/14 644)]was more than that of female[13.16%(1769/13 439)].Conclusions Current condition of arsenism in Hohhot is mild,arsenic disease surveillance should keep going. Prevention and control needs to be reinforced in the future.

Objective To investigate the techniques and influence factors for the respiratory navigator echo triggered whole-heart coronary MR angiography(WH-CMRA)and evaluate its application in visualizing coronary arteries and the image quality.Methods Ninety two volunteers were acquired with WH-CMRA at 3 T MR scanner using respiratory navigator-echo gated TFE sequence.Imaging quality was visually graded as 0—Ⅳ grade according to the visual inspection,average length,diameter and sharpness of coronary arteries.The correlation between the imaging quality and respiratory pattern,heart rate and navigator efficiency was analyzed.Results The imaging quality in 92 cases was that 28 were graded as Ⅳ, 53 were graded as Ⅲ,9 were graded as Ⅱ and 2 were graded as Ⅰ.The successful rate of scan was 88% (81/92).The imaging quality is mainly graded as Ⅳ when the heart rate was less than 75 beats per minute (bpm)and the sharpness of vessel was(48?11)%.When heart rate was more than 75 bpm,the image quality was mostly graded as Ⅲ and the sharpness was(33?15)%.The correlation between heart rate and imaging quality score was negative(r=-0.726,P0.05).Conclusion 3 T WH-CMRA technique could facilitated the visualization of whole coronary arteries at free breathing but having indications on heart rate.

Objective To study the clinical significance and changes of plasma nitric oxide (NO) and cyclic adernosine monophosphate(cAMP)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate(cGMP) ratio in children with asthma.Methods NO,cAMP,cGMP levels and changes of cAMP/cGMP in 40 asthmatic children in acute attack stage and restoration stage and in 23 health children were measured by nitric acid reductase method and radioimmunoassay.Results 1.the amount of NO 3-/NO 2-in the plasma of asthmatic children in acute attack stage was obviously higher than that in restoration stage and in normal control group(P0.05);6.the results of linear correlation analysis showed that there were positive correlations between plasma NO 3-/NO 2- and plasma cGMP levels in acute attack stage (r=0.401 P

In this study, we designed and synthesized 12 novel aloperine derivatives with different core structures. Among them, compound 3 with a ten-membered ring core was obtained through a special ring expansion reaction after γ-H Huffman elimination of quaternary ammonium salt, and the structure was verified by X-single crystal diffraction. Furthermore, their antiviral activity against human β-coronavirus HCoV-OC43 was evaluated by CCK-8 assay. Quaternary ammonium salt 2a and 3 had a good inhibitory effect against HCoV-OC43, and 2a had the highest anti-HCoV-OC43 activity with an EC₅₀ values of 3.77 μmol·L^-1 and a SI value of over 53.1. Schrӧdinger molecular docking results showed that both 2a and 3 might display their anti-HCoV-OC43 activity by directly acting on host TMPRSS2 and SR-B1. The results expanded the structural types of endocyclic aloperine and the function against coronavirus, and provided useful scientific data for the development of pharmaceutical applications of these compounds.

Objective To explore the relationships between hyperuricemia (HUA)，serum uric acid (SUA) level and the chronic kidney disease (CKD) in adult residents of communities. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted in Xinqiao town of Songjiang district, Shanghai and a total of 9 527 residents aged 20-75 years were selected by random cluster sampling. Logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association between SUA and CKD. Results Subjects were divided into five groups according to the gender-specific quintiles of SUA. The CKD prevalence in serum uric acid quintiles of male were 4.9%, 5.7%, 6.0%, 8.0% and 13.8% respectively，while of female were 12.8%, 12.7%, 11.9%, 13.3% and 18.2% respectively, increasing along with the increase of SUA among both sexes (all P<0.05). Compared to the serum uric acid first quintile, the multivariate-adjusted odds for CKD in male of the fourth and fifth quintiles were 2.12 (95% CI:1.32-3.39) and 3.84 (95% CI:2.45-6.02), and the multivariate-adjusted odds for CKD in female of the fifth quintile was 1.38 (95% CI:1.05-1.80). Hyperuricemia was defined by SUA>420 μmol/L(male) or >360 μmol/L(female). In the unadjusted model, HUA was significantly associated with CKD of all subjects (OR=2.03, 95% CI:1.69-2.44, P<0.001), and the association was still significant (OR=2.04, 95% CI:1.68-2.49, P<0.001) after adjustment for the potential confounders. The multivariate-adjusted odds of CKD associated with HUA was 2.89 (95% CI:2.12-3.94,) and 1.98 (95% CI:1.51-2.60) for male and female, respectively. Conclusion Hyperuricemia was independently associated with the increased prevalence of CKD among community-based population living in the Songjiang district, Shanghai.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and related factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) and its associated renal insufficiency in adult residents of a community in Shanghai. Methods A total of 9 257 residents aged 20-75 years old in a community of Shanghai were selected by random cluster sampling. All participants were interviewed to complete questionnaires, physical examination, examination of blood, urine and common biochemical indicators for T2DM, renal insufficiency and other related factors. Then the SPSS 19.0 software was used for analysis. Results Of the 9 257 respondents, eligible data of 8 207 subjects were enrolled in the study. The prevalence of T2DM was 12.7% (95% CI: 12.0%-13.4%), and the prevalence of its associated renal insufficiency was 15.4% (95% CI: 12.3%-18.4%), and majority of patients (65.8%) were in the early stage. Among the T2DM patients in this survey, the prevalence of renal insufficiency in obese patients was higher than that in patient with the normal body mass index. Logistic regression analysis showed that elder (OR=1.35), central obesity (OR=1.50), hyperuricemia (OR=2.51) were independent risk factors related with renal insufficiency in T2DM patients. Conclusions Renal insufficiency has become one of the important public health problems in T2DM patients. It shows a more urgent need for early prevention and control of CKD to prevent the incidence of end-stage renal disease and related complications in T2DM patients with advanced age, obesity, and hyperuricemia.

The concentration of extract of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is one of the important unit operations that affect the quality of the pharmaceutical products. However, there are some problems to be solved. The concentration process has the shortages of relatively high temperature, relatively long time or low efficient, some losses of active and volatile ingredients, more operation steps, easy fouling and emission of waste water. In order to solve these problems, many new technologies and installations have been developed in the past thirty years, including suspension freeze-concentration, progressive freeze-concentration, single- or multi-effect evaporation with an external natural circulating flow, on-line preventing fouling evaporation with vapor-liquid-solid flow, reverse osmosis concentration, membrane distillation, osmotic distillation, macro-porous resin adsorption etc. The system of the extract of TCM is very complex. The extract includes water and alcohol extracts. The composition of TCM is made of active and inactive ingredients. Hence, it is necessary to master the features of every concentration technologies and installations, including their merits and demerits, flexibilities, degree of maturations of techniques and so on to get a wise choice for the industry applications. New concentration technologies and installations of the extract of TCM developed recently are reviewed in this paper. The characteristics of each method are analyzed and discussed in order to guide the industry applications. At the same time, the further research directions of concentration techniques of extract of TCM are also given.

Objective To study the effects of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)on production of pulmonary surfactants.Method Fetal rat lungs were obtained at 19-day gestation.Primary culture of typeⅡalveolar epithelial cells(AECⅡ)was performed using IgG panning technique.The rats was divided into groups: VEGF,Dexamethasone,VEGF plus Dexamethasone and a control.Total phospholipids,phosphatidylcholine (PC),phosphatidyl glycerol(PG)and sphingornyelin(SM)were determined.Results expressed as mean?SEM. Comparison between groups were made with LSD-t test and one -way ANOVA.Result VEGF,Dexamethasone and VEGF plus Dexamethasone groups showed increased amount of total phospholipids and its compositions on the first day of culture.Conclusions VEGF-165 promotes the production and secretion of pulmonary surfactant. VEGF and Dexamethason may go through different mechanism for enhancement of synthesis of pulmonary surfactant,thereby improve biological function of AECⅡ.

Objective To study the influence of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) on development of alveolar epithelial cell Ⅱ (AECⅡ) and expression of pulmonary surfactant protein B(SP-B) in premature rats.Methods Wistar rats at 19 days gestation were paunched to get embryo and primary AECⅡculture.The rats were divided into 4 groups ,VEGF-165 group,Dexamethasone group,VEGF and Dexamethason group,control group. AECⅡ and SP-B expression were measured by immunology histochemistry.Results SP-B had positive expression in VEGF group, Dexamethason group, VEGF and Dexamethason group. SP-B had negative expression in control group.Conclusion VEGF-165 can increase SP-B positive expression and secret of AECⅡ.VEGF promotes lung maturity.
