Objective To investigate antiproliferative activity of endostatin(ES), the combining effect of Endostar and radiation on VEGF and apoptosis of the A549 human lung adenoearcinoma cell line.Methods The cell of exponential phase of growth were divided into the control, radiation alone, ES alone,radiation after ES(ES→RT), ES after radiation(RT→ES), radiation and ES at equal paee (RT+ES), γ-ray radiation at a dose of 2 Gy, single fracination irradiation, YH-16 10 μg/ml in the cell culture bottle. The combining effect was quantified by the survival curve. ELISA was used to observe the VEGF of radiation with ES on A549 cell lines. Apoptosis was observed by Hoeehst staining. Results There showed that both of ES and combining treatment had the function of antiproliferative. But the union treatment's function was more obvious (P＜0.05). The expression of VEGF in ES and the combining treatment group was more lower than others (P＜0.05). On apoptosis, the rate of apoptosis in ES, RT, combining treatment group was higher than others (P＜0.05). Conclusion On antiproliferative activity and rate of apoptosis, the combining of ES and radiation is better than to use them alone. To reduce VEGF of the A549 human lung adenocareinoraa cell line by ES could enhance radioresponse. There is no evidences to show that the expression of VEGF is concerned with the different choronological order of radiation and ES.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of psychological health intervention in the elderly urban residents living on minimum subsistence allowances, and to search for a suitable psychological health intervention strategy. Methods The 112 elderly persons living on minimum subsistence allowances in Xuzhou were selected by stratified cluster sampling, and they were matched with 112 controls. The elderly persons living on minimum subsistence allowances were divided into intervention group and control group. A general intervention based on community involved psychological health and care lecture, psychodrama treatment and psychological consultancy was made on the intervention. The SCL-90 was used to evaluate the psychological health status and effectiveness of psychological health intervention. Results The elderly persons living on minimum subsistence allowances had higher SCL-90 scores compared with other residents, and their psychological health status was serious. After the psychological health intervention, the SCL-90 scores were all lower in intervention group than in control group [ interpersonal relationship sensitiveness: (1.13 ± 0. 39) vs.(1.26±0.26), t=2.12, P=0.04; gloom: (1.23±0.66) vs. (1.43±0.24), t=2.08, P=0.04;anxiety: (1. 18±0.50) vs. (1.38±0.34), t=2.17, P=0.03; hostility: (1.24±0.49) vs. (1.40±0.28), t=2.03, P=0.04; other factor: (1. 31±0.56) vs. (1.49±0.31), t=2.04, P=0.04; total score: (115.89± 17.21) vs. (122.64± 10.41), t=2.42, P=0.02]. Conclusions The psychological health parameters are improved by psychological health intervention.

Objective:To compare the effects of 3 different crystalloid fluids at different osmotic concentrations on blood-brain barrier(BBB) and brain edema in severe hemorrhagic shock rats.Methods: A total of 150 male SD rats were equally randomized into a lactated Ringers(LR) group,a 7.2% hypertonic saline(HS) group and a plasmalyte A(PA) group.LR,PA and HS were administered after an hour of severe hemorrhagic shock induced by drawing out about 40% of total blood and maintaining MAP at 35-45 mmHg.Serum S100B,cerebra1 Evans Blue(EB) and water content were determined before(T_0) and 1 h after bleeding(T_1) and immediately(T_2),1 h(T_3) and 2 h(T_4) after administration.The changes of BBB in the hippocampus CA1 area were observed by electron microscopy.Results: The serum S100B level was obviously higher at T_1,T_2,T_3 and T_4than at T_0 in all groups(P0.05).The cerebra1 water content was significantly increased at T_1,T_2,T_3 and T_4in the LR group,at T_1in the HS and at T_1,T_2 and T_3 in the PA as compared with T_0(P

Objective: To test applicability of the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) in different age groups in urban China, and to develop age norms. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the CES-D was administrated to 16047 community participants with average age of (37.7±21.3) years (age ranged 11～100) in 21 provinces, who were as the norming sample. Criterion validity was tested in 349 psychiatric patients with average age of (32.0±12.1) years (age ranged 16～81) in 4 cities. A subsample (199 workers, 100 col-lege students, and 30 teachers in Beijing, Dongguan, and Baotou) was drawn from the national sample to provide 8 week interval test-retest reliability. Results: The Cronbach α was 0.90 for the scale, and 0.68～0.86 for its fac-tors. The 8 week interval test-retest correlation was 0.49 for the scale (P <0.01) and 0.39～0.51 for factors (P<0.01) . The result of confirmatory factor analysis supported the original 4-factor structure (RMSEA=0.057, CFI =0.976, GFI=0.948) . Patients scored higher than community sample [(21.72±13.39 ) vs.(13.24±10.33),P <0.01], and depression patients scored the highest [(27.82±14.42), P<0.01] . Age difference was signifi-cant. Age groups over 60-year-old scored higher than all the other age groups under 60-year-old (P<0.01). Objective To investigate the inhibitory effects of overexpression of PTEN on renal epithelial-mesenchymal trans-differentiation induced by TGF-β1,and the signaling transduction mechanism.Methods HKC cells were transfected with GFP-PTEN via lipofectAMINE2000.The efficiency of transfection was detected by fluorescence microscope.The expression of PTEN protein and mRNA in the translected cells was detected by Western blot and RT-PCR respectively.The experiment was divided into four groups:normal group,TGF-β1 stimulation group,GFP-PTEN+TGF-β1 group and empty vector+TGF-β1 group.The expression of E-cadherin,a-SMA,Akt and p-Akt was detected by Western blot.Results Most ceils transfected with GFP-PTEN expressed GFP.The expression of PTEN protein and mRNA was strongly increased when HKC cells were transfected with GFP-PTEN(all P<0.05).In both TGF-β1 stimulation group and empty vector+TGF-β1 group,the expression level of E-cadherin was lower(all P<0.05),while that of p-Akt and a-SMA was higher than in normal group(both P<0.05).The expression level of p-Akt and a-SMA in GFP-PTEN+TGF-β1 group was Iower(both P<0.05),while that of E-cadherin was higher than in TGF-β1 stimulation group and empty vector+TGF-β1 group(both P<0.05).The expression of Akt was similar in the four groups.Conclusion Overexpression of PTEN can inhibit renal epithelial-mesenehymal trans-differentiation induced by TGF-β1 through suppressing the activation of PI3K/Akt signal pathway.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic values of imaging techniques and endoscopy in detection the causes of post-hepatic obstructive jaundice.Methods The clinical data of 57 patients with post-hepatic obstructive jaundice were retrospectively studied.The causes of the obstruction and the findings of uhrasonography(US),computerized tomography(CT),magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)or MRIcholangiopancreatography(MRCP),endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)and endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)were compared.Results The causes of 57 patients with post-hepatic obstruetive jaundice were benign obstruction in 42(including stones in common bile duct in 38,ascariasis of CBD in 1,postoperative stricture in 2 and chronic pancreatitis in 1),and malignant lesions in 15(including pancreatic head carcinoma in 11 and ampullary carcinoma in 4).The diagnostic accuracy in terms of lesion location of US,CT,MRI+MRCP,ERCP and EUS were 71.93%(41/57),88.00%(22/25),94.59% (35/37),100.00%(47/47)and 96.77%(30/31),respectively;the diagnostic accuracy of cause of obstruction were 63.16%(36/57),80.00%(20/25),83.78%(31/37),100%(47/47)and 96.77% (30/31),respectively.Conclusion Benign diseases are the main causes of post-hepatic obstructive jaundice,but malignant ones are not rare.It is important to combine miscellaneous imaging techniques and endoscopy in diagnosis.

Objective To elucidate the effects of erythromycin derivative,9(S)-hydroxyerythromycin, on the expression of NF-?B in active T lymphocytes,and evaluate the potential role in the treatment of rheuma- toid arthritis(RA).Methods Jurkat T cells were exposed to 100 pmol/L tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-?with or without pretreatment with 3,10,30 or I00?g/ml of erythromycin or 9(S)-hydrnxyerythromycin 1 h at 37℃.
