The voice is a complex multidimensional phenomenon. It is a drive through the lung airflow to vibrate the vocal cords, and then be perceived by the listeners. A multidimensional set of minimal basic measurements suitable for the voice diseases are proposed by the Committee on Phoniatrics of the European Laryngological Society in 2000. It includes five different aspects: the subjective physician perception (grade, roughness, breathiness), and subjective rating by the patient, videostroboscopy (closure, regularity, mucosal wave and symmetry), acoustics analysis and aerodynamics measurements. The first three are the subjective assessment of voice, these are not to be discussed in tis article. Only objective assessments of the voice and the latest research progress are summarized below.

Objective To discuss the clinicd effect of using nebulised budesonide to treat neonatal laryneal edema caused by mechanical ventilation. Methods 43 newborns with mechanical ventilation were included in this study and divided into two groups:The Observational group(23 newborns)were treated with nebulised budesonide right before excubation once and three times after that, and the control group(20 newborns)were treated with dexamethasone once right before excubation and nebulised adrenine after that for three times.Comparisons were made between two groups about dismissing time of wheeze or hoarseness,tachypnea,PaO2 and PaCO2.Results Observational group:dismissing time of wheeze or hoarseness was(10.26±4.01)hours,dismissing time of tachypnea was(1.63±0.55)days,which was shorter than that of control group[(14.20±5.58)hours/(2.05±0.58)days],P<0.05).PaO2 and PaCO2 of two groups had no statistical difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Nebulised budesonide was effective in treatment neonatal laryneal edema caused by mechanical ventilation, using.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(22):-
Objective To investigate the effect of ondansetron on the development of neuropathic pain in rats following chronic constriction injury (CCI) on sciatic nerve. Methods This research consisted of 3 parts. ①A single bolus of ondansetron was given intraperitoneally 2 h before nerve injury; ②A single bolus of ondansetron was given intraperitoneally on the 7th day after nerve injury; ③Continuous administration of ondansetron was given daily for 35 d; In each part, male SD rats were randomly divided into ondansetron group (0.5, 2, 8 mg/kg), saline group and sham operated group. The paw withdrawal response to thermal stimulation was tested throughout the 35 d following nerve injury. Results Ondansetron administration before nerve injury had no effect on thermal pain threshold in rats of experimental neuropathic pain. ondansetron administration on the 7th day after nerve injury attenuated the descending of thermal pain threshold but did not alter its descending trend in subsequent time period. Daily administration of ondansetron for 35 d attenuated and further delayed the descending of thermal pain threshold significantly in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion Continuous administration of ondansetron can prevent or at least delay the descending of thermal pain threshold of rats with experimental neuropathic pain after constriction injury.

Objective To investigate the expression of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?) and intracellular adhesion molecular-1(ICAM-1) in brain tissue after experimental intracerebral hemorrhage in rats. Methods Experimental intracerebral hemorrhage model was maded by injection autologous blood using stereotactic method. The expression of TNF-? and ICAM-1 in cerebral tissues at different time were detected by using immunohistochemitry techniques. Results TNF-? expression raised obviously at 6 h and peaked at 48 h.ICAM-1 expression raised obviously at 12 h and peaked at 72 h.There was obvious difference between each intracerebral hemorrhage group and controls(all P

To establish a sensitive and specific method for simultaneous determination of gestodene, etonogestrel and ethinylestradiol in plasma by LC-MS/MS, plasma samples were extracted and derivatized before injection. An ESI ion source was used and operated in the positive ion mode with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). Norgestrel was chosen as internal standard and performed on a C18 (100 mm x 2.1 mm, 5 microm) column. The concentrations of gestodene, etonogestrel and ethinylestradiol were measured, using step-gradient mobile phase and step-gradient flow rate. The method was validated over the concentration range of 0.1-20 ng x mL(-1) for gestodene and etonogestrel and 0.01-2 ng x mL(-1) for ethinylestradiol, and showed excellent linearity. The intra- and inter-assay accuracy and precision were below 10.0% and recovery was 93.6%-110.9% over the three concentration levels evaluated. The method was applied in pharmacokinetic study of the compound gestodene patch and the compound etonogestrel patch in rabbits. The LC-MS/MS method was selective, accurate and sensitive, especially the LOQ were 100 pg x mL(-1) for gestodene and etonogestrel and 10 pg x mL(-1) for ethinylestradiol. The method was successfully applied in pharmacokinetic study for contraceptives.

Twelve cases of colon carcinoid were treated by laparoscopic resection combined with colonoscopy from January 2003 to November 2009 in the First Huai'an Hospital. The tumors presented as submucosal lesions in colonoscopy with the size of 1.5 - 3.0 cm in diameter, which were difficult to be found by laparoscopy. All tumors were locally resected under laparoscopy with the assistance of colonoscopy successfully. Patients were followed up for 6 - 72 months, one case died 30 months after operation due to liver metastases. Colon carcinoid tumors with diameter from 1.5 - 3.0 cm often have muscular invasion and lymph node metastasis. The results indicate that laparoscopic resection combined with colonoscopy is a safe and effective procedure for colon carcinoid tumor.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
Manganese-oxidizing microorganisms are able to oxidize soluble Mn(II) into insoluble Mn oxides. Such microorganisms are very useful in treatment of Mn-contaminated water. In this research, a Mn(II)- oxidizing bacterium Bacillus sp. MK3-1 was isolated from Mn-contaminated soil. This bacterium has high MnCl2 resistance with a MIC of 20 mmol/L. The results showed that it is able to oxidize and remove more than 96% of Mn(II) in the culture medium. The immobilized solid-embedding Bacillus sp. MK3-1can re- moved 87.12% of manganese contaminated water. The final concentration of MnCl2 after the treatment reached the national discharge standard level. Scan electron microscope observation showed that the pro- duced Mn oxides located on the cell surfaces of Bacillus sp. MK3-1. Energy dispersive spectrdmeter analy- sis indicated that the content of manganese of cell surfaces of Bacillus sp. MK3-1 was 19.60% (W/W). At last we amplified a 903 bp multicopper oxidase gene mnxG encoding the putative Mn(II)-oxidizing protein. The product of mnxG showed 86% identity to the reported multicopper oxidase.

As a vital component in an overall laboratory animal care and use program , development of a disaster plan plays a critical role for every research institution .Currently, most of domestic institutions would draw up an“emergency operation plan , EOP”, but ignoring a practicable “business continuity plan , BCP” in establishing a disaster plan.In this article, we will discusse about the definition of disaster , how to set up an EOP, and how to establish a thorough BCP , in order to show an integrated and professional disaster plan in laboratory animal care and use program .
