Objective To investigate the detection rate of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) for iso-echo liver cancers, and to evaluate the application of CEUS in treating iso-echo liver cancers with radiofrequency ablation (RFA). Methods A total of 27 patients with liver cancers (31 lesions in total) were enrolled in this study. Of the 27 patients, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was seen in 11 (11 lesions) and hepatic metastasis in 16 (20 lesions). In all patients the diagnosis was detected by contrast-enhanced CT or contrast-enhanced MRI and was clinically confirmed. Under real-time CEUS guidance, RFA was carried out for all the 31 lesions. The ablated extent was evaluated by CEUS, and CEUS findings were used to guide the further treatment. Results All 31 lesions were detected by CEUS and were treated with RFA. No serious complications occurred after RFA. Both CEUS and CECT performed one month after RFA showed that complete tumor necrosis was seen in all the 31 lesions. After RFA the serum AFP levels in all 11 HCC patients fell to normal range, and the serum CEA, CA-199 as well as CA-153 levels in patients with hepatic metastasis decreased significantly(P<0.01). Conclusion CEUS can markedly increase the detection rate of iso-echo liver cancers. Besides, CEUS plays an important role in guiding the performance of RFA for iso - echo liver lesions.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of curcumin on proliferation of neural stem cells (NSCs) of rats and the mechanism. METHODS NSCs derived from the forebrain of rat E15 embryos were cultured in vitro and identified by neuroepithelial stem cell protein ( nestin and SOX2) staining. NSCs were treated with curcumin 0.1, 0.5, 2.5, 12.5 and 62.5 μmol.L-1 for 24 h, respectively. The cyto-toxicity was estimated by measuring the release of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH). Cell viability and prolif-eration were analyzed respectively by MTT and BrdU assay. The mRNA expression levels of glucocorti-coid receptor (GR), Stat3, Notch1 and p21 were detected by qRT-PCR. The protein expression levels of total GR, Stat3 and phosphorylated Stat3 were measured by Western blotting. RESULTS The primary neural stem cells were identified as NSCs. Curcumin 12.5 and 62.5 μmol.L-1 had cell cytotoxicity( P<0.05). Cell viability assay indicated that curcumin 0.5 and 2.5 μmol.L-1 enhanced NSCs viability( P <0.05), but in 62.5 μmol.L-1 group the cell cytotoxicity was inhibited(P<0.05). Curcumin 0.1, 0.5 and 2.5 μmol.L-1 increased NSCs proliferation ( P < 0. 05), whereas 12. 5 and 62. 5 μmol.L-1 caused a decrease in NSCs proliferation(P<0.05). The mRNA expression level of GR in 0.5 μmol.L-1 group was significantly reduced( P<0.05). Western blotting analysis revealed that the protein expression of GR, Stat3 and p-Stat3 was inhibited by curcumin in 0.5 μmol.L-1 group(P<0.05). CONCLUSION Curcumin stimulates NSCs proliferation, possibly by inhibiting GR mRNA and related protein expression.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of c-CBL overexpression on activation of astrocytes in the spinal cord of rats with neuropathic pain and the relationship with Kindlin-1.Methods:Eighteen clean-grade healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 10-12 weeks, weighing 250-280 g, were divided into 3 groups ( n=6 each) using a random number table method: sham operation group (S group), neuropathic pain group (NP group) and c-CBL overexpression group (c-CBL group). The model of neuropathic pain was developed by chronic compression of the sciatic nerve in anesthetized rats.On 1 day before operation, c-CBL overexpression vector 10 μl was intrathecally injected in group c-CBL, while blank vehicle 10 μl was intrathecally injected in S and NP groups.The mechanical paw withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal paw withdrawal latency (TWL) were measured on 1 day before operation (T 0) and 1, 4 and 7 days after operation (T 1-3). The rats were sacrificed by decapitation after measurement of the pain threshold at T 3, and the spinal cord of L 4-6 was taken for determination of the expression of Kindlin-1, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and interleukin-1beta (IL-1β) (by Western blot) and co-expression of Kindlin-1 with c-CBL (by co-immunoprecipitation). Results:Compared with group S, the MWT was significantly decreased and TWL was shortened at T 2, 3 in group NP and group c-CBL, the expression of Kindlin-1, GFAP, TNF-α and IL-1β was significantly up-regulated in group NP, and the expression of c-CBL was significantly up-regulated in group c-CBL ( P<0.05). Compared with group NP, the MWT was significantly increased and TWL was prolonged at T 2, 3, the expression of Kindlin-1, GFAP, TNF-α and IL-1β was down-regulated, and the expression of c-CBL was up-regulated in group c-CBL ( P<0.05). The results of co-immunoprecipitation showed that there was a protein interaction and co-expression relationship between Kindlin-1 and c-CBL in group NP, and the co-expression of Kindlin-1 with c-CBL was enhanced in group c-CBL when compared with group NP. Conclusions:The overexpression of c-CBL can inhibit activation of astrocytes by down-regulating the expression of Kindlin-1 in the spinal cord, thus reducing inflammatory responses and relieving neuropathic pain in rats.

Flash radiotherapy is a kind of radiotherapy method using ultra-high dose rate radiation. Compared with the traditional dose rate radiotherapy, it has unique radiobiological advantages. In this paper, the principle of flash radiotherapy, the process and results of biological experiments are summarized. At the same time, the advantages and challenges of flash radiotherapy are analyzed, and the future clinical application is prospected.

To study an automatic plan(AP) method for radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery based on TiGRT system and and compare with manual plan (MP). The dosimetry parameters of 10 patients and the evaluation of scoring table were analyzed, it was found that the targets dose of AP were better than that of MP, but there was no statistical difference except for CI, The V5, V20 and V30 of affected lungs and whole lungs in AP were lower than all that in MP, the Dmean of hearts was slightly higher than that of MP, but the difference was not statistically significant, the MU of AP was increase by 16.1% compared with MP, the score of AP evaluation was increase by 6.1% compared with MP. So the AP could be programmed and automated while ensuring the quality of the plan, and can be used to design the plans for radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery.

Image-guided radiation therapy using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a new technology that has been widely studied and developed in recent years. The technology combines the advantages of MRI imaging, and can offer online real-time tracking of tumor and adjacent organs at risk, as well as real-time optimization of radiotherapy plan. In order to provide a comprehensive understanding of this technology, and to grasp the international development and trends in this field, this paper reviews and summarizes related researches, so as to make the researchers and clinical personnel in this field to understand recent status of this technology, and carry out corresponding researches. This paper summarizes the advantages of MRI and the research progress of MRI linear accelerator (MR-Linac), online guidance, adaptive optimization, and dosimetry-related research. Possible development direction of these technologies in the future is also discussed. It is expected that this review can provide a certain reference value for clinician and related researchers to understand the research progress in the field.
