1.Advances in peptide antibiotic LL-37
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(03):-
LL-37 is the only member of the cathelicidin family known to exist in human acting as an endogenous antibiotic. After removal of the highly conserved N-termini of precursor hCAP18,a 15 000 C-terminal fragment called LL-37 bearing all of the known biological acivity hitherto is liberated by proteinase.LL-37 is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negtive bacteria. Its antibacterial activity depends on the formation of ?-helical conformation. The cytotoxic activity of LL-37 is inhibited by apolipoprotein A-Ⅰ(apoA-Ⅰ) in the plasma, thereby it can function as a scavenger of LL-37 and prevent host cell damage. In addition to its microbicidal activity,LL-37 has several other functions such as chemotactic, angiogenic action and the ability to bind and neutralize the endotoxin.
2.Effects of alpha-lipoic acid on serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and high sensitive-C reactive protein in patients with early diabetic nephropathy
Clinical Medicine of China 2012;28(1):32-34
ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of alpha-lipoic acid on serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and high sensitive-C reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in patients with early diabetic nephropathy (DN).MethodsA total of 61 patients with early DN were randomized into treatment group (n =31 ) and control group ( n =30 ).The two groups were both treated with dietary control and oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin.Meanwhile, the treatment group was additionally given alpha-lipoic acid 300 mg/d by intravenous infusion for 20 days. The levels of sICAM-1 and hs-CRP in each group were detected. Results The levels of sICAM-1 and hs-CRP were decreased significantly in alpha-lipoic acid treatment group after 20 days of therapy ( [ 198.03 ±23.67] μg/L vs [271.17 ±34.66] μg/L,[5.16 ±0.43] mg/Lvs [7.95 ±0.88]mg/L,P <0.01 ).Conclusion alpha-lipoic acid may decrease the expression of slCAM-1 and hs-CRP,and that may be one of the mechanisms to postpone the progress of early DN.

5.EFFECT OF EXOGENOUS HORMONES ON LYMPHATIC STOMATA IN OVARIAN BURSA AND LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE IN MICE
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the effect of steroid hormones on lymphatic stomata of ovarian bursa and fluid adsorption. Methods The lymphatic adsorption was traced by trypan blue, and the ultrastructure of the lymphatic stomata and estrogen receptor level of mesothelial cells on ovarian bursa was observed by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and immuno-colloid golden technology. Results The absorption and opening area of lymphatic stomata were enhanced in estrogen group mice, and decreased in androgen group as compared to control group mice.Estrogen receptor was first identified in the nuclei of mesothelial cells on the inner layer of mice ovarian bursa and the level was down-regulated by estrogen and slightly up-regulated by androgen. Conclusion The absorption and the opening area of lymphatic stomata can be regulated by steroid hormones in mice, and the machanism may be related to the expression levels of estrogen receptor in the nuclei of mesothelial cells.
6.Animal model of neuropathic pain and its application to research on pain mediated by P2X receptors
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(11):-
Neuropathic pain is the clinically common disease and does great harm to physical and mental health.Because its pathogenesis is still unclear and there aren′t effective therapeutic tools and the course of chronic pain lasts a long time, the study of neuropathic pain has become the hot spot and the focal point of pain research area. This article reviews various kinds of animal models of neuropathic pain, which can repeat neuropathic pain symptoms of mankind and may be effective ways to make research.By acting on P2X receptors,ATP is the signal of an important transmitting pain.By utilizing animal models of neuropathic pain,it shows that P2X receptors have an important role in the formation, transmission and regulation of pain and may be a new target of neuropathic pain therapy.
7.Advances in genetics of intracranial aneurysm
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2016;24(8):760-764
Intracranial aneurysm is an abnormal bulging of intracranial artery wall. Its rupture can lead to subarachnoid hemorrhage. About 50% of patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage will die or have poor outcomes. At present, intracranial aneurysm is considered as a complex disease associated with genetic and environmental factors. Although the etiology of intracranial aneurysm is not completely clear, a lot of evidence has shown that the genetic factor plays an important role in the processes of its occurrence, development and rupture. This article reviews the advances in gene linkage research, genome wide association studies, and gene expression research in intracranial aneurysm in recent years.
