1.Treatment of 29 Cases of Fasciitis of Back Muscles by Acupuncture plus Movable Cupping

Twenty-nine cases of fasciitis of back muscles were treated by acupuncturing the main acupoints, including Ashi acuponit, Jianjing (GB 21), Tianzhu (BL 10) and Tianzong (SI 11), plus cupping on the painful part of back. After 2 courses of treatment, 26 cases were cured and 3 cases improved.
2.Effects of nutritional support on serum amino acid spectrum and neurological function in acute stroke patients

Objective To investigate serum amino acid spectrum in patients with acute stroke in response to different nutritional support strategies and its effects on neurological function.Methods A total of 60 cases of acute stroke with dysphagia were randomly distributed into two groups:enteral nutrition group (30 cases) and control group (30 cases) using simple randomized design.Serum amino acid spectrum,hemoglobin,total protein,albumin,prealbumin,immunoglobulins,complement,and infection rate were assessed at three time points:within 48 hours,(7 ± 1) days and (14 ± 1) days after admission,and neurological deficit and activities of daily living are scored according to National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Barthel Index (BI).Results (7 ± 1),(14 ± 1) days after admission,serum amino acid spectrum,hemoglobin,total protein,albumin,prealbumin,immunoglobulins,complement,and neurological deficit scores of enteral nutrition group patients were significantly better than those of non-enteral nutrition control group; and infection rate was lower than that of control group.Follow-up for a month,3 months,NIHSS of enteral nutrition group patients (9.0 ± 1.4,7.9 ± 1.3) were significantly better than nonenteral nutrition control group(11.1 ± 1.5,10.6 ± 1.4,F =46.042,P < 0.05).While BI score seemed to be not insignificant different between enteral nutrition group (50.1 ± 1.8,52.0 ± 2.4) and control group (49.0±2.1,51.3 ±2.8,F=2.707,P>0.05).Conclusion For patients suffering acute stroke with dysphagia,enteral nutrition support could reduce infectious complications,improve short-term neurological function and long-term prognosis by improving serum amino acids level and thus the whole body' s nutritional status.
3.Study on dexmedetomidine combined with remote ischemic postconditioning for enhancing cerebral protective effect

Objective To evaluate the the protectice effect of dexmedetomidine combined limb remote ischemic postcondition on alleviating focal cerebral ischemic reperfusion injury in rats .Methods 48 healthy adult male SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n= 12) :control group(C) ,limb remote ischemic postcondition group(R) and dexmedetomidine postconditioning group(D) and combination group(R/D) .The rat model of focal cerebral ischemic reperfusion injury was induced by middle cerebral artery oc‐clusion(MCAO) .The group C only received MCAO ,the left femoral artery was isolated without blocking ;the group R received 120 min brain ischemia ,the left femoral artery was occluded by 3 cycles of 10 min occlusion/10 min reperfusion before brain reperfu‐sion ;the group D received dexmedetomidine 3 μg/kg by intraperitoneal injection before brain reperfusion .The group R/D combined the above two kinds of processing method .The neurologic function was evaluated at 24 h of reperfusion and then the rats were sac‐rificed at 48 h of reperfusion .The brain was removed for determining the cerebral infarct volume .Results The neurologic function scores after 24 h reperfusion in the group D ,R and R/D were superior to those in the group C (P< 0 .01) .The rat cerebral infarct volume percentages after 48 h reperfusion in the group D ,R and R/D were significantly lower than those in the group C ( P <0 .01) .The infarct area volume percentage in the group R/D was significantly lower than that in the group R ,the difference showed statitistical significance(P< 0 .01) .The infarct volume percentage in group R/D was significantly decreased compared with the group D(P< 0 .05) .Conclusion Both dexmedetomidine and limb remote ischemic postcondition can attenuate the focal cerebral is‐chemic reperfusion injury in rats .Their combination can significantly reduce the cerebral infarction volume and has synergic protec‐tion effect .
4.LSY-2 is essential for maintaining the germ-soma distinction in C. elegans.

The mechanisms that specify and maintain the characteristics of germ cells during animal development are poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrated that loss of function of the zinc-finger gene lsy-2 results in various somatic cells adopting germ cells characteristics, including expression of germline-specific P granules, enhanced RNAi activity and transgene silencing. The soma to germ transformation in lsy-2 mutants requires the activities of multiple chromatin remodeling complexes, including the MES-4 complex and the ISW-1 complex. The distinct germline-specific features in somatic cells and the gene expression profile indicate that LSY-2 acts in the Mec complex in this process. Our study demonstrated that lsy-2 functions in the maintenance of the soma-germ distinction.
