Journal of Endocrine Surgery 2009;3(3):167-169
Objective To observe the effect of the first iodine-131 ablation of thyroid remnants in pa-tients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) and discuss factors that may be influential in the treatment. Meth-ods All DTC patients confirmed by pathology received iodine-131 therapy after necessary preparation. Accord-ing different operation procedures, time interval between operation and iodine-131 treatment and dose of iodine - 131, the patients were divided into different groups. Therapy effects were observed in different groups. Results Ablation successful rate was 88.5% in total thyroidectomy group, compared with 44.4% in subtotal thyroidecto-my group. 92.7% ablation rate was seen in the group of I-2 months time interval between operation and iodine - 131 treatment, while in the group of over 1 year time interval, only 50% ablationrate was achieved. Ablation successful rate was 47.6% in the group of low dose of iodine-131 (2.96GBq), compared with 82.8% in the high dose group (4.44GBq). Conclusions Total thyroidectomy and cervical lymph nodes dissection should be recommended for the patients with DTC. The better interval time between operation and iodine-131 ablation thy-roid remnants is 1~2 months. The high dose of iodine-131 shows better result than low dose of iodine-131 treatment.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(9):1603-1606
OBJECTIVETo prepare matrine double-sensitive colon-specific pellets and study the factors affecting its quality and evaluateing the colon-specific effects of preparation.
METHODMatrine enzyme-sensitive pellets core were prepared by carboxymethyl konjac glucomannan as the main carrier material, and coated the core by acrylic resin II and III to prepare matrine double-sensitive colon-specific pellets. The prescription and technology of the matrine colon-specific pellets were studied by the single factor investigation, through the in vitro release test and coating rate determination.
RESULTThe optimized process conditions: FeCl3 concentration is 4.0 g x L(-1), chitosan concentration is 3.0 g x L(-1), carboxymethyl konjac glucomannan concentration is 20 g x L(-1), mixed gel solution pH value is 3. The release of matrine is less than 30% in the simulation of the upper gastrointestinal medium. The release of matrine is close to 100% in simulated full gastrointestinal medium, the coating weight is 7%.
CONCLUSIONThe prepared pellets have good colon positioning effect in vitro.

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2009;25(3):193-197
Objective To investigate the role of intraeellular Ca2+ and MERTK in the phagocytosis of human retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells, and reveal the relationship between MERTK and intraeellular Ca2+. Methods The euhured RPE cells were incubated with rod outer segments (ROS) at 37℃, the phagoeytosis was terminated at different incubation time points. The concentration of intraeellular Ca2+ was assayed by Fluro-3/AM loading methods combined with fluorescence microscope and CCD system, and the mRNA level of MERTK gene was measured by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Treating the RPE cells with stimulator (A23187)or inhibitor(verapamile)of intraeellular Ca2+ to observe the changes of MERTK gene expression. Results ROS adhered to hRPE cells at the 15th minute, and the ingestion saturated at the 24th hour. The concentration of intracellular Ca2+ increased at the 15th minute, and kept the high level in 24 hours. The level of MERTK mRNA increased at the 5th minute, and kept the high level duration the whole incubation. When RPE cells were treated by A23187, the expression of MERTK increased in a dose-dependent manner. After RPE cells was pretreated by A23187, the expression level of MERTK was higher in the proceeding incubation groups than which in the control group except at the 3rd hour. When RPE cells were treated by verapamil, the expression level of MERTK decreased in a dose-dependent manner. After RPE cells were pretreated by verapamil , the expression level of MERTK was lower in all the proceeding incubation groups than which in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion MERTK gene and Ca2+ play an important role in sustaining RPE cells phagoeytizing ROS. As an up-stream regulator, the receptor tyrosine kinase MERTK keeps RPE cells phagocytizing ROS by starting the intracellular Ca2+.

Objective To study the effect of propofol on vascular reactivity and plasma malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) in septic shock. Methods Forty male SD rats weighing 200-250 g were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 10 in each group) : group Ⅰ control; group Ⅱ septic shock; group Ⅲ septic shock + propofol and group Ⅳ septic shock + melatonin. The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal pentobarbital 40 mg?kg-1. The femoral artery and vein were connulated for MAP monitoring and drug administration. The animals were breathing spontaneously. Septic shock was induced by intravenous LPS 15 mg?kg-1 . In group Ⅲ a bolus of propofol 10 mg?kg-1 was given i.v. at 1 h after intravenous LPS followed by intravenous propofol infusion at 10 mg?kg-1?h-1. In group Ⅳ melatonin 10 mg was given intraperitoneally at 1h after LPS i.v. . Six hours after LPS administration 4 doses of phenylephrine (PE) 0.5, 1, 2, 2.5 ?g?kg-1 were given i.v. in succession. The next dose was given when MAP returned to the baseline level after previous PE. The percent change in MAP after each dose was recorded. Blood samples were taken at 6 h after LPS administration for determination of plasma MDA and NO concentrations. After the in vivo experiment the animals were sacrificed and thoracic aortas were removed and cut into segments of 3 mm in length which were bathed in Krebs buffer aerated with 95% O2 and 5% CO2 at 37℃. The aortic rings were stretched to a resting tension of 2.0 g. The segments were then exposed to increasing concentrations of PE (from 1 nmol?L-1 to 30 ?mol?L-1). The dose-response curves were obtained. Emax and EC50 were calculated. Results The percent increase in MAP induced by PE was significantly reduced by septic shock (groupⅡ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ) as compared with control group (Ⅰ), but was significantly larger in propofol and melatonin groups (Ⅲ,Ⅳ) than in group Ⅱ. In the in vitro experiment the maximum response to PE and EC50 were significantly reduced in rats with septic shock as compared with rats in control group (P

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;30(6):423,425-
Academe hash't got the same view about science attribute of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)up to now. This article demonstrates the scientific attribute of the traditional Chinese medicine from the nature of science, the seientific attribute of medical science and the relationship between the traditional Chinese medicine and medical science.TCM needs development. In order to develop the traditional Chinese medicine quickly,on the basis of inheriting tradition,we should make the best use of modem scientific technology. Not simply copy the theories and methods of western medicine but using the scientific measurement to build up the measurement of TCM symptoms, the relationship between symptoms and the change of the body, explore the process of physiology and pathology, and combine with western medicine to develop a mature science-medical science.
