[Objective] To explore the effects of mycocide and insecticide on indoor air quality in archives.[Methocls] The levels of camphor, formaldehyde and 2, 2-dichlorovinyldimethyl phosphate (DDVP) in indoor airwere determined in 17 archives. [Results] The average concentration of camphor in indoor air was 1.00mg/L inarchives applying synthetic camphor, 0.74 mg/m3 in archives applying commercialized mycocide (the main compo-nents were synthetic camphor and pyrethrin ), and 0.14 mg/m3, applying natural camphor. The concentrations offormaldehyde reached 0.297 mg/m3 at the 10th day after the co-fumigation by formaldehyde and DDVP. At thesametime, DDVP was not found in indoor air of archives.[Conclusion]The pollution of formaldehyde and camphorin indoor air of archives should be paid more attention to.

Objective:To investigate the migration and odontogenesis of rat dental pulp cells transfected with adenovirus vector enco-ding cadherin-11.Methods:The dental pulp cells were cultured and transfected with pDC316-mCMV-EGFP-Cadherin-11.Cad-11 protein expression of the cells was examined by immunohistochemistry staining.The odontogenic differentiation of the cells was studied by alizarin red staining and ALP staining.The adhesion and migration of the cells were tested.Results:Transfection of pDC316-mC-MV-EGFP-Cadherin11 promoted Cad-11 protein expression and ALP activity,increased calcified nodule formation(P <0.05),adhe-sion and migration of rat dental pulp cells(P <0.05).Conclusion:Cadherin-11 may promote the odontoblast differentiation and mi-gration of rat dental pulp cells.

Flow injection on-line sorption preconcentration and separation in a knotted reactor (KR) was coupled to cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometry for the determination of trace mercury in mineral water. Mercury was preconcentrated by on-line formation of mercury diethyldithiocarbamate complex (Hg-DDTC) and absorption of the resulting neutral complex on the inner walls of a knotted reactor. A 20%(V/V) HNO3 solution heated by electromagnetic induction heating technique was used as eluent to remove the absorbed Hg-DDTC from the KR, and then the vapor mercury generated by mixing the resulting solution and KBH4 was determined on-line by cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometry. The 20% HNO3 was employed as both the efficient eluent and the required acidic medium for subsequent mercury vapor generation in our work. Using 20% HNO3 instead of conventional organic solvent as eluent, the proposed method is simple, easy operational and environmentally friendly. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the sample throughput was approximatively 30/h with an enhancement factor of 35. The detection limit of mercury was 2.0 ng/L. The precision(RSD, n=11) was 2.2% at the 0.1 μg/L Hg2+ level.

Background and purpose: Death-associated protein kinase-1(DAPK) is a pro-apoptosis protein,and plays a important role in oncogenesis and development.This study is to investigate the expression of mRNA of DAPK1 and its association with apoptosis in papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).Methods:The expression of DAPK1 mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization in 45 cases of PTC and 45 cases of normal thyroid tissues next to tumors that consist of three part of tissue: normal thyroid tissue,nodular goiter and follicular adenoma.The apoptosis in corresponding issues was tested by TUNEL assay and the apoptosis index(AI) was evaluated.Results:The positive rate of DAPK1mRNA in PTC and para-PTC tissues were 37.78% and 71.11%,respectively.The positive rate of DAPK1 mRNA in counterpart thyroid issues was higher than that in tumor tissues(P0.05).Conclusions:As an apoptosis promoter,DAPK1 may function as an inhibitor of tumor,and low expression or loss DAPK1 gene may be involved in the oncogenesis of PTC.The detection of the expression of DAPK1 may be helpful for judging metastasis and prognosis of PTC.

Objective: To analyze influencing factors of in-stent restenosis after coronary artery stent implantation, to provide theoretical support for clinical prevention of restenosis. Methods: Clinical data of 123 patients, who received coronary artery stent implantation in our hospital from Mar 2011 to Sep 2013 and received coronary angiography follow-up one year after operation, were retrospectively analyzed. In-stent restenosis was regarded as stenosis of inner diameter of implanted stent≥50%, so patients were divided into restenosis group (n=35) and non-restenosis group (n=88). Multi-factor Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze influencing factors of coronary in-stent restenosis. Results: Compared with non-restenosis group, there were significant reductions in serum level of total bilirubin [(14.02±6.76) μmol/L vs. (10.90±4.51) μmol/L] and stent diameter [(3.06±0.86) mm vs. (2.87±0.44) mm] in restenosis group, P<0.01 both. Multi-factor Logistic regression analysis indicated that blood glucose level was independent risk factor for restenosis after coronary artery stent implantation (OR=2.545, P=0.035), while stent diameter and serum level of total bilirubin were its protective factors (OR=0.857, 0.850, P<0.05 both). Conclusion: Blood glucose level is an independent risk factor for restenosis after coronary artery stent implantation, while stent diameter and serum level of total bilirubin are its protective factors.

Course construction is the central part in the teaching innovation and an important indicator of the quality of a school teaching. Based on the emphatic course construction ,the department of immunology has carried out practices from the educational philosophy,teaching content,teaching methods,teaching staff and other aspects of the courses in the construction of immunology,and has got better results.

A 59-year-old female farmer presented with left painful swollen eye for 1 week after being stung by a rice black bug ( Scotinophara sp. ). It was associated with acute progressive blurring of vision. On examination of the left eye, there was a marked periorbital swelling with proptosis and complete ptosis. The extraocular movements were restricted in all the directions. The cornea was hazy with large epithelial defect. Fundoscopy showed combined features of both central retinal vein and artery occlusions with swollen optic disc and ischaemia of the macular area. CT scan and MRI of orbit and brain showed evidence of orbital soft tissue inflammation. Patient was diagnosed with left orbital cellulitis, keratouveitis and central retinal vein and artery occlusions. The periorbital swelling and proptosis were improved after treatment with systemic and topical antibiotics. However, the vision remained no perception of light(NPL)and limitation of ocular movements persisted. The potential ophthalmic insults by Scotinophara sp. Can be severe and permanent. Awareness of the debilitating insults by Scotinophara sp. To human eye should be instilled timely especially in its prone areas.

Background: Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disorder characterised by thrombosis and/or pregnancy morbidity in the presence of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) based on the Sydney criteria. We aimed to explore the clinico-laboratory features and treatment strategies of APS patients retrospectively. Methodology: The medical records of APS patients registered under Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (Kelantan state) between 2000 and 2015 were reviewed. Results: A total of 17 APS subjects (age 40.7 ± 12.8 years) including 11 primary (64.7%) and six secondary APS (35.3%) patients were identified. The follow-up period was 9.5 ± 6.7 years with male:female ratio of 1.0:4.7. Pregnancy morbidity was the most common clinical manifestation (11/14; 78.6%) followed by recurrent venous thrombosis (10/17; 58.8%). For other clinical features, menorrhagia was the most frequently observed manifestation (4/14; 28.6%) followed by aPLs-associated thrombocytopenia (4/17; 23.5%) and ovarian cyst (3/14; 21.4%). LA and aCL were positive in 94.1% (16/17) and 81.8% (9/11) of the patients, respectively. APTT value (76.7 ± 17.0 sec) was significantly high (p < 0.05). Low intensity warfarin alone was successful to maintain target INR (2.0 - 3.0) and prevent recurrence of thrombosis. Conclusion: The tendency of pregnancy morbidity in this cohort of Malaysian Kelantanese APS patients was high compared to other previously reported APS cohorts. Low intensity warfarin was successful in preventing recurrence of thrombosis, however, APS women receiving long-term anticoagulants should be monitored for possible occurrence of menorrhagia and ovarian cysts.
