Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2009;28(2):109-112
Objective To explore the condition and the related risk factors for attention function damage in patients with mild Alzheimer'S disease(AD). Methods Continuous performance test (CPT)was performed in 100 healthy elder people and in 68 patients with mild AD before treatment and after 8 weeks'treatment.Mini-mental state examination(MMSE)and behavioral pathology in Alzheimer's disease rating scale(BEHAVE-AD)were used to assess the disease.Regression analysis was also used in this study. Resuits The omission rate, mistake rate, reaction time and coefficient of variation of most iterns(visual one objective continuous ear continuous performance test,VOT;visual successive objective objective continuous performance test,VST;ear continuous performance test,ET)of CPT inpatients with AD were abnormal, even after 8 weeks'treatment. These parameters were improved after 8 weeks'treatment although they were higher than those in control group. The parameters before treatment had correlation with the course of disease and the behavior and psychological symptoms of dementia(BPSD). Conclusions Attention function damage in patients with AD is wide and severe, and the parameters of CPT before treatment are correlated with the course'of disease and BPSD.

The advent of nanoscience and nanotechnology offers unprecedented opportunities in nanomedicine, such as increas-ing therapeutic efficiency and decreasing undesired side effects in cancer treatment. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a non-invasive pho-totherapy-based method that is applied in the treatment of cancer and other diseases and has important clinical value. PDT can be com-bined with other therapies to realize the synergistic treatment. The emergence of up-conversion nanomaterials provides a fundamental method to solve the problem of photodynamic therapy of deep tumors. Moreover, the versatile preparation and surface modification methods facilitate the fine-tuning of the emission spectrum of up-conversion nanomaterials and the improvement of the photosensitiz-er's loading capacity. This study reviews the development in design and application of up-conversion nanomaterials for PDT of cancer.

Objective To investigate the feasibility of serum cardiac troponin T(cTnT) as a marker of cardiovascular events and hemodialysis (HD) adequacy in maintainence hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Methods Forty-seven cases of MHD patients were randomly divided into two groups (group A and group B).Group A received intermittent HD 4 h thrice one week, and group B received intermittent HD 4 h twice one week plus high-flux hemodiafiltration(HDF) 4 h once one week.Serum examination for blood biochemical indicator,cTnT and echocardiogram was performed every three months and at the time of recruitment. All the patients were followed up until the occurrence of death or cardiovascular events. Results After 3 months treatment, serum cTnT deceased significantly in group B compared with group A,and maintained the lower levels throughout the follow-up.E/A and LVEF had been reduced since 3 months treatment in group A,but stable in group B,E/A was lower in group A after 18 months treatment than that in group B,LVEF was lower in group A after 12 months treatment than that in group B.There were positive correlations between cTnT and E/A or LVEF in 42 cases who accomplished the follow-up of 12 months (r =0.54,0.66,P <0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that the occurrence of cardiovascular events in patients with cTnT≥0.1μ g/L was higher than that with cTnT <0.1 μg/L in (28.5 ± 9.7) months' follow- up (Log-rank test: P =0.02).Both survival analysis and Cox analysis indicated that serum cTnT was a predictor of cardiovascular events in MHD patients. Conclusions Serum level of cTnT can be used as a marker of HD adequacy, and it is a predictor of cardiac events in MHD patients.Regular high-flux HDF increases the adequacy of HD treatment and improves the quality of life in MHD patients.

Objective To explore the effect of application of continue performance test (CPT) in screening of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder( ADHD ). Methods Thirty-five children with ADHD and65 normal children had been applied with CPT and Conner questionnaire test. Used rank sum test to examine the outcome, established receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, analyzed the most valuable index among various data, formulated abnormal critical value, and carried on a consistency check between CPT screening outcome and clinical diagnosis outcome. Results Each CPT index of 35 children with ADHD was obviously higher than those of normal children(P< 0.05 ). Most indexes' area under the ROC curve exceeded 0.7, reactive time of VST was the highest among each index which achieved 0.915. It was high conformity between CPT screening outcome and clinical diagnosis outcome (Kappa = 0.935 ). Conclusion CPT can be applied in ADHD screening.

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2017;48(15):3051-3055
Objective: To study the chemical constituents in the rare medicinal herb Oreorchas patens in Changbai Mountain for better utilization of the resource. Methods: The drug was used as crude material, the extract was obtained with 95% ethanol firstly, and then with ethyl acetate (EtOAc). The EtOAc extract was further isolated and purified with various chromatographic methods, including silica gel, ODS, and Sephadex LH-20 columns. Finally the isolated compounds were characterized with their physical chemical properties and based on their 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR data. Results: Eleven compounds were obtained from the EtOAc extract and identified as β-sitosterol (1), β-daucosterol (2), dioctyl phthalate (3), butyl-isobutyl-phthalate (4), diamyl phthalate (5), β-sitosterol acetate (6), dibutyl phthalate (7), dibutyl terephthalate (8), cirrhopetalanthin (9), pentacosane (10), and hexatriacontane (11). Conclusion: Compounds 3-11 are isolated from O. patens for the first time.
