OBJECTIVE: To observation the effects of Glycosaminoglycan from Scallop Skirt (SS-GAG) on the production of vasoactive substance in the endothelial cells injured by hydrogen peroxide(H2O2). METHODS: In H2O2-induced en-dothelial cell oxidative damage model group which was established with human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC, ECV304) cultured in vitro, SS-GAG groups (at different concentrations) and the normal group, levels of 6-keto-PGF1a, Thromboxane-B2 and Endothelin (ET) in the culture fluid were detected by radioimmunity assay and the content of nitric oxide was determined by nitrate reductase method. AIM:To establish a fingerprint method of analyzing Xuefu Zhuyu Capsule(Semen Persicae,Radix Angelicae sinensis,Fruclus Aurantii,Rhizoma Chuanxiong,etc.) by HPLC. METHODS: A HPLC in combination with PDA detector was applied with a HiQ C_(18)(4.6 mm?250 mm,5 ?m) column by gradient elution using methanol-1.0% acetic acid solution as the mobile phase.The flow rate was 0.5 mL/min and the detection wavelength was at 260 nm. RESULTS: Thitrty-six common peaks were obtained in the fingerprint of Xuefu Zhuyu Capsule with good separation,six of them were identified as adenosine,paeoniflorin,naringin,hesperidin,neohesperidin and ligustilide by comparing chromatogram with control compounds. CONCLUSION: The HPLC method with good precision and reproducibility can be used for the quality control of Xuefu Zhuyu Capsule.

The incidence of open-angle glaucoma has been rising year after year in China, which has caught much at-tention from ophthalmologists.There are various methods to evaluate the disease progression of an open-angle glaucoma pa-tient.These methods can be divided into two classes:functional assessment and structural assessment.We survey these two classes of methods in this paper.

Objective To explore the relationship of coping style and social support with hope in maintenance hemodialysis patients.Methods A total of 177 maintenance hemodialysis patients were recruited from 3 dialysis centers in Guangzhou and were investigated with the self-designed questionnaire,the Herth Hope Scale,Simplified Coping Scale and Social Support Scale.Structural equation model was used to establish the model of relationship of coping style and social support with hope level.Results The average score of hope in maintenance hemodialysis patients was (31.83±3.69) points.The total score and all the sub-scores of social support were (42.24±4.09) points,(23.72±2.36) points,(10.82±2.26) points,(7.70±1.36) points respectively.And the average scores of positive coping style and the negative coping style were (2.15±0.28) points,(1.56±0.33) points,respectively.Social support had direct positive effect on hope level,and the positive and neg-ative coping style had indirect positive and negative effect on hope level respectively.Conclusions Social support has a direct effects on hope level in maintenance hemodialysis patients.Positive and negative cop-ing styles have indirect effects on hope level through social support.

To investigate the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome and short-term prognosis of ischemic stroke.

Objective To discuss incidence and related risk factors of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) after acute subcortical infarction (SI).Methods One hundred and eighty-two patients with acute SI were divided into two groups:VCI group (81 cases) and no-VCI group ( 101 cases) according to VCI diagnostic standard.Sex proportion,age,culture degree between two groups were compared,and correlation was analyzed between the quantity of risk factors and the incidence of VCI.Results The incidence of VCI after acute SI was 44.5％(81/182).According to age stratification,the incidence of VCI in the patients of 56-65 years was 35.4％ (23/65),in the patients of 66-75 years was 45.3％ (48/106),and in the patients of 76-85 years was 90.9％ (10/11 ).The age in VCI group was significantly higher than that in no-VCI group [(69.93 ±6.91) years vs. (67.62 ±5.56) years,P =0.014],and culture degree was significantly lower than that in no-VCI group (P =0.028).The sex proportion between two groups had no significant difference (P =0.876).The more accompanying risk factors,the higher incidence of VCI.Conclusions Along with the increase of age,the incidence of VCI after acute SI is higher.The more accompanying risk factors,the higher incidence of VCI.

Objective: To study the effect of ?- carotene(?-C) on lipid peroxidation and RBC-membrane fluidity of rats inflicted with alloxan. Methods: Forty-four 2mo-old Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups and fed with basal diet (group A and B), basal diet + vitamin E (200 mg/kg) (C) and basal diet+? carotene (200 mg/kg) (D) for 4 w respectively. Then, alloxon (3%) was injected intraperitoneally except group A, which was injected with normal saline. After 48 h the rats were killed and a series of indices were examined. Results: After injected with alloxan, Na +,K +-ATPase and GSH-Px activity, RBC-membrane fluidity in rats fed with diets C,D were markedly increased while MDA levels were decreased. Conclusion: ?-C and V E can decrease lipid peroxidation and increase the stability of RBC-membrane in rats inflicted with alloxan.

MMP-9 is one of the family of matrix metalloproteinases, which degrades extracellular matrix. MMP-9 is induced by many inflammatory factors, including IL-1?,IL-8 and TNF-?. Meanwhile, MMP-9 potentiates inflammatory factors by aminoterminal processing. The signal transduction by which inflammatory factors induce MMP-9 is also an important part in recent research. This review will give a summary in all these fields.
