Objective To explore clinical characteristics of the digestive tract obstruction due to annular pancreas. Methods We reviewed retrospectively clinical features, operative findings and the autopsy of 5 children with annular pancreas. Results Neonate patients usually present complete upper gastro intestinal obstruction because most of them were complicated with duodenal atresia. Infants present chronic incomplete intestinal obstruction duo to annular pancreas. 35.8% of duodenal constriction was caused by annular pancreas. Conclusions All the symptomatic patients with annular pancreas should undergo exploration to restore the consecution of the digestive tract and to detect if there is a concurrent malformation such as intestinal atresia.

Objective To establish the animal model of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and investigate the immune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of cerebral palsy due to intrauterine infection. Methods Twenty-six mature pregnant Wistar rats were divided into experiment(n= 15)and control groups(n =11). LPS(0. 3 mg/kg) and distilled water were injected on 15 days of gestation to two groups respectively intraperitoneally. Objective To examine the effectiveness of HGF in blocking TGF-β1 induced α-SMA and extracellular matrix production in fibroblasts of the flexor tendon sheath. Methods Seven adult male New Zealand white rabbits (3.75-4.00 kg) were used for this study. Both of their front feet were sterilised and the middle digit flexor digitorum profundus tendon equivalents were identified and isolated. These specimens were used to establish primary cell cultures. Sheath fibroblasts were obtained from rabbit flexor tendons. After the cells reached confluence, cells were detached with trypsin/ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid. All experiments were performed using the cells at the third passage. At 70% confluence the medium was supplemented with 5 ng/ml of TGF-β1 along with increasing doses of HGF (10-40 ng/ml). After 72 hours incubation, the productions of α-SMA were assayed by Western-Blot. The productions of collagen Ⅰ and fibronectin in supernatants culture were examined using ELISA. Results Evaluation of protein expression revealed that TGF-β1 markedly induced α-SMA expression in cultured rabbit flexor tendon sheath fibroblasts. TGF-β1 treated fibroblasts expressed 1.8-fold more protein compared to non-treated fibroblasts (P ＜ 0.05). However, simultaneous incubation of HGF significantly abrogated TGF-β1 induced α-SMA expression in a dose-dependent manner (P＜ 0.05). Treatment with TGF-β1 significantly stimulated collagen Ⅰ and fibronectin production in flexor tendon sheath fibroblasts (P ＜ 0.01). Remarkably, the addition of HGF reduced productions of all components induced by TGF-β1 in a dose-dependent manner (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion HGF antagonizes TGF-β1 induced α-SMA, collagen Ⅰ, and fibronectin production in flexor tendon sheath fibroblasts. The findings provide a cellular and molecular basis for HGF's acting as a therapeutic agent for adhesions in flexor tendons.

Objective To compare the analytical result of different kinds of film dose analysis software for the same gamma knife,analyze the reasons of difference caused,and explore the measurements and means for quality control and quality assurance during testing gamma knife and analyzing its result.Methods To test the Moon Deity gamma knife with Kodak EDR2 film and γ-Star gamma knife with GAFCHROMIC(R) EBT film,respectively.All the validation films are scanned to proper imagine format for dose analysis software by EPSON PERFECTION V750 PRO scanner.Then imagines of Moon Deity gamma knife are analyzed with Robot Knife Adjuvant 1.09 and Fas-09 1.0,and imagines of γ-Star gamma knife with Fas-09 and MATLAB 7.0.Results There is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of radiation field size ( Full Width at Half Maximum,FWHM) and its nominal value between Robot Knife Adjuvant and Fas-09 for Moon Deity gamma knife (t = -2.133,P ＞0.05).The analysis on the radiation field' s penumbra region width of collimators which have different sizes indicated that the differences are significant (t = - 8.154,P ＜ 0.05 ).There is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of FWHM and its nominal value between Fas-09 and MATLAB for γ-Star gamma knife ( t = - 1.384,P ＞0.05 ).However,following national standards,analysis of φ4 mm width of collimators can obtain different results according to the two kinds software,and the result of Fas-09 is not qualified while MATLAB is qualified.The analysis on the radiation field' s penumbra region width of collimators which have different sizes indicates that the differences are significant ( t = 3.074,P ＜ 0.05 ).The imagines are processed with Fas-09.The analysis of imagine in the pre-and the post-processing indicates that there is no significant difference in the maximum deviation of FWHM and its nominal value ( t = 0.647,P ＞ 0.05 ),and the analytical result of the radiation field' s penumbra region width indicates that there is no significant difference as well ( t = -0.627,P ＞ 0.05 ).Conclusion The study shows that different kinds of film dose analysis software may have some differences in analysis of the same gamma knife validation film,and the results may lead to the different decisions in accordance with national standard.

Objective:To explore the differences in bacterial community structure between proximal colon cancer (PC), distal colon cancer (DC), and rectal cancer (RC), and the values of featured microbiota in differentiating PC with tumor markers.Methods:This case-control study enrolled 85 newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients, including 22 PC, 15 DC and 48 RC patients, and 8 colorectal adenoma patients from May 2019 to July 2022 at the Department of General Surgery, Anyang Oncology Hospital. The blood and fecal samples were collected before surgery and then subjected to biochemical tests for tumor markers and 16S rDNA tests, respectively. SPSS (27.0.1) was applied to perform the t-test, one-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, and Chi-Squared Test. Also, the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was plotted on tumor markers and/or f_Bacteroidaceae with SPSS software .Results:All groups had significant differences in the CA125 ( F=3.543, P<0.05), CA72-4 ( F=3.596, P<0.05), and serum tumor-associated materials (TAM) levels ( F=5.787, P<0.01). In PC group, the levels of CA125 [PC vs RC, (36.84±6.30) kU/L vs (12.73±4.21) kU/L, P<0.01] and CA72-4 [PC vs RC, (45.56±10.86) kU/L vs (3.30±7.63) kU/L, P<0.01] were significantly higher than that of the RC group, while the level of TAM was remarkably elevated in PC group than in RC group [PC vs RC, (124.84±5.19) U/ml vs (102.44±3.63) U/ml, P<0.001] and CRA group [PC vs CRA, (124.84±5.19) U/ml vs (95.39±8.42) U/ml, P<0.01]. The LEfSe analysis showed that the featured microbiota in the PC group included f_Bacteroidaceae, f_Neisseriaceae, f_Clostridiaceae_1, f_Spirochaetaceae, and so on. The largest area under the ROC belonged to the combination of TAM and f_Bacteroidaceae, which reached 0.845 (95% CI 0.747-0.944), with sensitivity being 0.857 and specificity being 0.815. Conclusions:There is heterogeneity in gut microbiota composition among PC, DC, RC, and CRA. The combination of gut microbiota and tumor biomarkers demonstrated good differentiating effects in proximal colon cancers.

Objective:To characterize the histopathological subtypes and their clinicopathological parameters of gender and onset age by common, rare and sparse primary esophageal malignant tumors (PEMT).Methods:A total of 272 437 patients with PEMT were enrolled in this study, and all of the patients were received radical surgery. The clinicopathological information of the patients was obtained from the database established by the State Key Laboratory of Esophageal Cancer Prevention & Treatment from September 1973 to December 2020, which included the clinical treatment, pathological diagnosis and follow-up information of esophagus and gastric cardia cancers. All patients were diagnosed and classified by the criteria of esophageal tumor histopathological diagnosis and classification (2019) of the World Health Organization (WHO). The esophageal tumors, which were not included in the WHO classification, were analyzed separately according to the postoperative pathological diagnosis. The χ 2 test was performed by the SPSS 25.0 software on count data, and the test standard α=0.05. Results:A total of 32 histopathological types were identified in the enrolled PEMT patients, of which 10 subtypes were not included in the WHO classification. According to the frequency, PEMT were divided into common (esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, ESCC, accounting for 97.1%), rare (esophageal adenocarcinoma, EAC, accounting for 2.3%) and sparse (mainly esophageal small cell carcinoma, malignant melanoma, etc., accounting for 0.6%). All the common, rare, and sparse types occurred predominantly in male patients, and the gender difference of rare type was most significant (EAC, male∶ female, 2.67∶1), followed with common type (ESCC, male∶ female, 1.78∶1) and sparse type (male∶ female, 1.71∶1). The common type (ESCC) mainly occurred in the middle thoracic segment (65.2%), while the rare type (EAC) mainly occurred in the lower thoracic segment (56.8%). Among the sparse type, malignant melanoma and malignant fibrous histiocytoma were both predominantly located in the lower thoracic segment (51.7%, 66.7%), and the others were mainly in the middle thoracic segment.Conclusion:ESCC is the most common type among the 32 histopathological types of PEMT, followed by EAC as the rare type, and esophageal small cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma as the major sparse type, and all of which are mainly occur in male patients. The common type of ESCC mainly occur in the middle thoracic segment, while the rare type of EAC mainly in the lower thoracic segment. The mainly sparse type of malignant melanoma and malignant fibrous histiocytoma predominately occur in the lower thoracic segment, and the remaining sparse types mainly occur in the middle thoracic segment.
