Chinese Journal of Trauma 2009;25(12):1106-1109
Objective To explore the role of myofibroblasts expressing α-smooth muscle actin (a-SMA) in hyperplastic scar formation. Methods Expression of α-SMA in normal skin and scar was examined by means of immunohistochemistry. The contents of myofibroblasts were measured and com-pared with that of hydroxyproline through cell culture. The contents of precollagen (pc β) , transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) and fibronectin in fibroblasts and myofibroblasts were assayed by ELISA.Results Vascular smooth muscle cells rather than other hypodermal cells expressed α-SMA in normal skin (P<0.01).The expression ofa-SMA was markedly increased up to 96.89% in hyperplastic scar tissues, with statistical difference compared with normal skin (P < 0.01).The contents of hydroxyproline (P <0.01) , pc (P <0.05) , TGF-β (P <0.01) and fibronectin (P <0.05) in myofibroblasts were significantly higher than those in fibroblasts. Conclusion Myofibroblasts play a key role in formation of hypertrophic scar.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2010;26(2):217-219
Objective:To explore the role of MVD, bFGF and VEGF in OMFS and the relationship between them. Methods: Immunochemistry streptavidin peroxidase method was used to detect the MVD and the bFGF, VEGF expressions in 57 cases of OMFS samples. Results: MVD, bFGF and VEGF expressions were different between OMFS and benign. The close correlations were found among the expressions of VEGF, bFGF and MVD. Conclusion: The expressions of VEGF and bFGF are associated with MVD which indicated that VEGF and bFGF may play important roles in angiogenesis.

Objective To explore the joint toxic effect of formaldehyde and benzene on testicles of the mice. Methods 78 Kunming male mice were divided into groups, in the formaldehyde treatment groups were exposed at dosage of 0.2 mg/kg,2 mg/kg,20 mg/kg, in the benzene treatment groups were exposed at dosage of 100.0 mg/kg,200.0 mg/kg,400.0 mg/kg and the in formaldehyde and benzene combined treatment groups were exposed at dosage of 0.1+50.0 mg/kg,1+100.0 mg/kg,10+200.0 mg/kg respectively. The treatments were conducted by peritoneal injection for five consecutive days, once a day, then killed on 6th day. The activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD),the contents of maleic dialdehyde(MDA),the contents of copper(Cu),zinc(Zn) in testicles of the mice were determined. Results Compared with those in the negative control groups, the activity of SOD and the contents of Cu, Zn in the testicles of the mice in each treatment group significantly decreased, while the contents of MDA significantly increased (P

Objective To study the effect of inhaling formaldehyde on learning and memory in mice. Methods 24 KM mice were randomly divided into four groups: the control group (clean air),the low dose group (1 mg/m3),the moderate dose group (3 mg/m3) and the high dose group (5 mg/m3). The mice were exposed to different concentrations of gaseity formaldehyde,2 h/day,for 14 consecutive days. Then their behavior of learning and memory were tested by step-down test, passive avoidance test and Morris water maze experiment. Results Step-down test showed that the mice in the moderate dose group and the high dose group made notable errors compared with the control group (P

Objective To preliminarily evaluate the effect of endoscopy in treatment of subcutaneous hematoma in the limbs. Methods From March 1998 to October 2001, endoscope techniques were ferformed in 7 cases of old subcutaneous hematoma, among which were 2 cases of subcutaneous hematoma on the lateral femur, 1 on the medial knee joint, 1 on the traumatic prepatellar bursa and 3 on the anterior tibia. The area of the biggest hematoma was 20 cm?5 cm and that of the smallest 4 cm?6 cm. Results All the patients were followed up with a time range of 3-16 months and got sound healing with no scar in the skin and deeper tissues, pain or dysfunction. Conclusions The endoscope for larger subcutaneous hematoma in the limbs has the advantages such as smaller incision, less scar, accurate manipulation, mild postoperative reaction and fast recovery. Therefore, it can not only obtain similar curative effect to that of the traditional open operation but also avoid the shortcomings of the traditional operation. Endoscope techniques should be the first alternative to hematoma of over 5 cm or hard subcutaneous hematoma in the limbs.

Objective To investigate the expression changes of paxillin and focal adhesion kinase(FAK) in scar tissues at different periods. Methods The expressions of paxillin and FAK of scar tissue samples from 30 babies at age of 3-12 months were detected by means of immunohistochemistry. Results The expressions of paxillin and FAK in the scar tissues at the 3th and 6th months were increased more significantly than that in normal skin tissues.Whereas, there was no significant difference upon the expressions of paxillin and FAK in the scar tissues at the 12th week compared with normal skin tissues. Conclusion Focal adhesion varies with change of composition, structures and mechanical properties of extracellular matrix(ECM) and with different intracellular framework.Different signal transmissions of ECM,integrin and focal adhesion compound may result in different changes of cellular function.

[Objective]To introduce the knowledge for the diagnosis of acute gout arthritis that attacked initially in the knee and improve its early treatment.[Method]Seventeen cases with acute gout arthritis in the knee were diagnosed and treated under arthroscopy since 2000.The experiences were analysed retrospectively and the therapatic results were observed through a follow-up of more than 6 months.[Result]Before arthroscopy, only 5 cases were considered as acute gout arthritis, the other 12 cases were given a misdiagnosis. All the patients were diagnosed and given a debridment simutaneously under arthoscopy. Then, the patients were given an postoperative systematic drugs therapy. The follow-up(ranged from 10 to 24 months)showed that all the patients acquired a short-term and long-term satisfactory therapeutic effect.[Conclusion]The acute gout arthritis attacked initially in the knee is rare and its misdiagnosis rate is very high. The significant improvement and extensive application of arthroscopic techniques will improve its diagnosis rate and provide a new way for its early surgical treatment.

As an important kind of plant secondary metabolites and widely distributed in the plant kingdom, triter-penoid saponins have a variety of biological activities. The constitution and content of triterpenoid saponin are deter-mined by some key enzymes and their expressing level in triterpenoid saponins biosynthesis pathway. So, it is very important to illuminate the molecular mechanism of triterpenoid saponins biosynthetic pathway. In recent years, illu-mination of the entire biosynthetic pathway especially the confirmation and cloning of the key enzymes, such as squa-lene synthase, squalene epoxidase, cytochrome P450 monooxygenase and UDP-glycosyltransferase, had become one of the hot spots by many scholars. In this paper, the entire biosynthetic pathway and some kinds of key enzymes in-volved in the synthesis of carbon skeleton, and its oxidation, and glycation were reviewed for further demonstrating the biosynthetic pathway of triterpenoid saponins and providing a theoretical basis for artificial biosynthesis.
