Case based study emphasizes on the training of students' practical clinical ability. With the development of computer technology, picture archiving and communication system was widely applied, providing bases for case based study. According to the characteristics of radiology, appli-cation of case based study in medical imaging practice teaching was believed to stimulate students' learning interest, improve their analytical ability and thinking capacity, make them combine theory with practice better and develop their clinical thinking ability.

AIM: To develop a method to detemine pinostrobin in Weitengning Talets (Lindera reflexae Hemsl.) by HPLC. METHODS:A C_(18) column was used,methyl alcohol-water(80∶20) was used as a mobile phase and the wavelength of UV detector was set at 290 nm. RESULTS:The linearity of this method was good with the average recovery of 97.9%,RSD was 0.74%(n=5). CONCLUSION:The methed is simple,reliable,sensitivity,and with good reproducibility.It can be used in quality control of Weitengning Tablets.

At present,the graduate teaching of medical imaging and nuclear medicine is still facing many problems,such as paying more attention to the academic research while ignoring ideological and moral reconstruction,teaching arrangement being unreasonable,poor students' clinical practice ability,lack of scientific training system,and no mature evaluation system and so on.Therefore,in clinical teaching ideological and political education is needed as the guide,to enable students to understand the present medical environment,enhance their doctor-patient communication ability.Besides,in the clinical and scientific research ability cultivation,graduate students' learning enthusiasm should be fully mobilized to promote them to actively explore scientific problems.Furthermore the perfect clinical evaluation method and index system should be combined to assess the quality of training.

Objective To investigate the value of 64-slice spiral computed tomography(CT)angiography in preoperative evaluation of spinal vascular intervention.Methods Seventeen patients with segmental injury of the spinal cord underwent the enhanced 64-slice CT scan of the spine.Thin-slice reconstruction was done,with the slice thickness of 0.625 mm and interval of 0.625 mm.The data were transferred to the work station ADW4.2 in DICM format.Image postprocessing technologies such as volume rendering(VR),maximum intensity projection(MIP)and multi-planar reformat(MPR)were used to conduct three-dimensional reconstruction and analyze the anatomical characteristics of radiculomedullary artery.Results Radiculomedullary artery could be found in the thoracolumbar segment of 16 patients(16/17,94%).Among them,one artery(1/17,6%)went into the vertebral canal through the left intervertebral foramen of T4/5,two(2/17,12%)through the left intervertebral foramen of T10/11,one (1/17,6%)through the left intervertebral foramen of T11/12,four(4/17,24%)through the left intervertebral foramen of L1/2,two(2/17,12%)through the left intervertebral foramen of L2/3,two (2/17,12%)through the right intervertebral foramen of T11/12,two(2/17,12%)through the right intervertebral foramen of T12/L1,two(2/17,12%)through the right foramen of L2/3 andl0(10/17,59%)through the left intervertebral foramen.Either CT scan or DSA examination found no radiculomedullary artery in one patient.All the above findings were in accordance with the results of DSA examination.Conclusions Spiral 64-slice CT scan can provide significant preoperative evaluation information for spinal vascular intervention,for it can accurately and visually show the anatomical features of the radiculomedullary artery such as open position,flow tendency,caliber size and spatial relationship with the surrounding vessels.

To improve the quality of practice teaching in medical imaging,we explored the teaching methods on the basis of quality-oriented education,combining the special nature of the medical imaging and the clinical medicine program.

Comparative imaging can be used to analyse and compare diseases in different respects,which can not only conduce to students’transversal contrast of knowledge they have learned, but also improve the teaching effect of medical imaging and the students’clinical skills,and at the same time,lay a solid foundation of the research for future.

AIM: To determine the expression level of Fas molecules on the T cells isolated from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. METHODS: The expression of Fas on T cells and the apoptotic rate of 36 patients with SLE in active phase and 18 normal people were determined with flow cytometry. The patients were treated with impact therapy of prednisone, methylprednisolone or cyclophosphamide, respectively, according to their conditions. Within 3 days after admission, immediately before discharging (the average days in hospital is 22.6 d), and 4 weeks after discharging, the amount of Fas molecules expressed on T cell surface was determined respectively with flow cytometry in each patient. Objective To investigate the characteristic and its clinical value of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α and its receptor, interleukin (IL)-1β and its receptor in serum and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF) in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and to determine the role of them in the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis. Methods The concentrations of TNF-α,soluble TNF receptor (sTNF-R) Ⅰ, IL-1β and IL-1 receptor were measured using sandwish ABC-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method in serum and BALF of 46 patients with active tuberculosis and 21 patients with inactive tuberculosis, and in the serum of 20 cases of healthy control. Meanwhile the above-mentioned cytokine levels in serum and BALF of 19 patients with active tuberculosis were followed up. Differences between groups were assessed for significance by t test. Results The TNF-α,sTNF-R Ⅰ, IL-1β and IL-1 receptor levels and TNF-α/sTNF-R Ⅰ ratios in BALF of active tuberculosis group were (286.2±96.3) pg/L,(2 431.5±1 124.6) pg/L,(58.6±3.2) pg/L,(162.4±17.1) pg/L and 0.06±0.01, respectively, which were all significantly higher than those with inactive tuberculosis group (t=3.36,3.25,2.95,2.27 and 3.12 respectively; P<0.05). The TNF-α,sTNF-R Ⅰ,IL-1β and IL-1 receptor levels and TNF-α/sTNF-R Ⅰ ratios in BALF of cavernous tuberculosis group were (381.4±106.4) pg/L,(2 824.7±1 318.5) pg/L,(66.4±4.6) pg/L,(176.4±18.7) pg/L and 0.07±0.01, respectively,which were all significantly higher than those of non-cavernous tuberculosis group (t= 3.46,2.37, 3.19, 2.99 and 3.22, respectively; P<0.05). After 2-month' antituberculosis treatments, among 19 cases, the TNF-α,sTNF-R Ⅰ,IL-1β and IL-1 receptor levels and TNF-α/sTNF-R Ⅰ ratios in BALF of 16 cases were significantly lower than those at the beginning of treatments (t= 3.26,3.17, 3.28, 2.92 and 3.12 respectively; P<0.01). Meanwhile, their clinical symptoms improved, sputum smear negative, lesions on chest X-ray resolved and the cavity shrinked or closed. Conclusions TNF-α, sTNF-R Ⅰ, IL-1β and IL-1 receptor are likely to be involved in the immunopathogenesis of tuberculosis. Detection of TNF-α, sTNF-R Ⅰ, IL-1β and IL-1 receptor levels in the serum and BALF is helpful to understand the activity of disease, determine the clinical pattern of disease,assess the prognosis of disease and monitor the therapeutic effect in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.

In order to investigate the protective effects of the overexpression of bcl-xl gene on local cerebral infarction in the transgenic mice subject to permanent occlusion of middle cerebral artery, the models of bcl-xl transgenic mice were established and subjected to cerebral infarction by intralu- minal occlusion of the middle cerebral artery. The infarct volume and the neurological scores were observed and comparison between the wild type mice and the transgenic mice was made. It was found that the infarct volume and the neurological scores in the transgenic mice were significantly decreased as compared with those in the wild type mice. It was suggested that the overexpression of bcl-xl gene in transgenic mice could reduce the infarct volume and improve the neurological function of the mice.

Objective To compare the diagnostic value of MR examination with fast imaging employing steady state acquisition (FIESTA) and single shot fast spin echo (SSFSE) sequences for normal fetal thymuses.Methods Totally 366 normal fetuses were examined using MRI with FIESTA and SSFSE sequences,and the anatomy and MR manifestations of thymuses were observed.Kappa analysis and x2 test were performed.The transverse area (TA) and transverse diameter (TD) were measured on the "three vessel" level,while the superoinferior diameter (SID) was measured on the sagittal level.The mean value of these parameters at different gestational were calculated,and the regression equations of each parameter and gestational age were fitted.Results Two doctors had good agreements with the images of FIESTA and SSFSE sequences (Kappa=0.745,0.802,both P＜0.01).The clear rate of FIESTA and SSFSE sequences was 86.34％ (632/732) and 37.70％ (276/732) respectively,and the differences were significant (x2 =367.520,P＜0.001).The thymic size increased with the gestational age,and the regression equations and correlation coefficients were:TA =-5.80 + 0.35 ×gestational (r=0.820,P＜0.01),TD=-14.59+1.63×gestational (r=0.817,P＜0.01),and SID=-9.63+1.44×gestational (r=0.778,P＜0.01).Conclusion The subtle structure and contour of fetal thymus showed with FIESTA sequence are clearer than those of SSFSE sequence.MRI can clearly show fetal thymus after 22 weeks of pregnancy.
