Ketoprofen is widely used as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. A potential sustained release ketoprofen tablet formulation was designed by orthogonal experiment on formulations composed of differential common excipients and homemade polymerides, and was screened by dissolution in vitro. The dissolution rate (%) of the ketoprofen tablet in simulated intestinal fluid was 16.6, 26.7, 42.2, 63.6, 83.1, 93.4, at 30min, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 h, respectively. The plasma ketoprofen concentrations in six male volunteers were assayed after administration of a single oral dose (100 mg) of the sustained release tablet. It was found that the tablet formulation screened in vitro had sustained release effect in vivo too. This study suggests that there was a close correlation between the dissolution of sustained release ketoprofen tablet in vitro and the percent of dose absorbed in vivo, and the correlation coefficient was 0.9689. The influence of tablet hardness on the release rate of ketoprofen was also observed..

OBJECTIVETo compare shear bond strength (SBS) between two types of silicone soft liner and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) under the condition of heat curing and room temperature curing.
METHODSA total of 48 PMMA specimens (50 mm x 10 mm x 3 mm) were made by water-bath heating method, and randomly divided into four groups. By using Ufi Gel P (UGP) as soft liner material, group A1 was prepared under heat curing, and group A2 was prepared under room temperature curing. To form the other two groups, Silagum-Comfort (SLC) as soft-liner material was used. Group B1 was prepared under heat curing, and group B2 was prepared under room temperature curing. Shear bond strength (SBS) was tested by using the electronic universal testing machine. The adhesives layer and surface of silastic and PMMA were observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
RESULTSThe SBS of groups A1, A2, B1, B2 were (2.39 +/- 0.24), (1.74 +/- 0.27), (3.09 +/- 0.26), and (2.21 +/- 0.29) MPa, respectively. Significant differences were found between A1 and A2, B1 and B2, A1 and B1, and A2 and B2 (P < 0.05). Optical microscope showed numerous bubbles in the cured UGP, and no air bubbles in the SLC. The surface of PMMA was rough. SEM images showed that each group had continual consistent adhesive interface and a whisker hump on the adhesive layer of A2 and B2.
CONCLUSIONThe SBS ofUGP, SLC, and PMMA achieved minimum clinical standard of 0.44 MPa. The SBS of UGP and PMMA were higher than that of SLC and PMMA. The polymerization method of heat curing was higher than room temperature curing.

Objective To sum up our experience on the diagnosis and treatment of rare hepatic tumors. Methods The data of 25 patients with rare liver tumors admitted in our hospital from May 2005 to January 2010 were analyzed retrospectively. Results The final pathologic diagnosis of focal nodular hyperplasia was made in 6 cases, and the diagnosis of vascular leiomyoma, hilar neurilemoma, intrahepatic aneurysm, biliary cystadenoma, hepatic hamartoma, biliary villous adenoma, and hepatic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was established in one each case, respectively. The diagnosis of angiomyolipoma in 2patients, primary liver gastroimestinal stromal tumor in 2 patients, hepatoblastoma in 5 patients and liver undifferentiated sarcoma in 3 patients was established. Preoperative ultrasonography, CT and MRI were performed in 24, 22 and 6 patients respectively. Preoperative tentative diagnosis was finally confirmed by pathology in only 3 (16.7%) cases, all by CT report. Preoperative diagnosis was consistent with postoperative pathology in 5 patients (20%); All patients underwent liver resection including hemihepatectomy in 7 patients, hepatic lobectomy in 7 patients, segmentectomy in 9 patients and tumor enucleation in 2 patients; There was no recurrence after resection of benign, low malignant tumors and hepatic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma; Postoperative follow-up was made for all the 5 cases of malignant tumours, and there was recurrence in 3 cases. These 3 eases underwent second resection and there were no recurrences after reoperation. The two recurrent patients died with a mean survival of 4 months. Conclusions The preoperative correct imaging diagnostic rate for rare hepatic tumors is low. Surgery is the most effective therapy and reoperation should always be attempted for tumor recurrence in order to prolong survival.

The expensive production of bioethanol is because it has not yet reached the 'THREE-HIGH' (High-titer, high-conversion and high-productivity) technical levels of starchy ethanol production. To cope with it, it is necessary to implement a high-gravity mash bioethanol production (HMBP), in which sugar hydrolysates are thick and fermentation-inhibitive compounds are negligible. In this work, HMBP from an atmospheric glycerol autocatalytic organosolv pretreated wheat straw was carried out with different fermentation strategies. Under an optimized condition (15% substrate concentration, 10 g/L (NH4)2SO4, 30 FPU/g dry matter, 10% (V/V) inoculum ratio), HMBP was at 31.2 g/L with a shaking simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) at 37 degrees C for 72 h, and achieved with a conversion of 73% and a productivity of 0.43 g/(L x h). Further by a semi-SFF with pre-hydrolysis time of 24 h, HMBP reached 33.7 g/L, the conversion and productivity of which was 79% and 0.47 g/(L x h), respectively. During the SSF and semi-SSF, more than 90% of the cellulose in both substrates were hydrolyzed into fermentable sugars. Finally, a fed-batch semi-SFF was developed with an initial substrate concentration of 15%, in which dried substrate (= the weight of the initial substrate) was divided into three portions and added into the conical flask once each 8 h during the first 24 h. HMBP achieved at 51.2 g/L for 72 h with a high productivity of 0.71 g/(L x h) while a low cellulose conversion of 62%. Interestingly, the fermentation inhibitive compound was mainly acetic acid, less than 3.0 g/L, and there were no other inhibitors detected, commonly furfural and hydroxymethyl furfural existing in the slurry. The data indicate that the lignocellulosic substrate subjected to the atmospheric glycerol autocatalytic organosolv pretreatment is very applicable for HMBP. The fed-batch semi-SFF is effective and desirable to realize an HMBP.

Objective To explore the application of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) value in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of prostatic cancer. Methods Diffusion-weighted echo-planar imaging (EPI) sequences were performed in 46 patients, including 21 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), 9 cases of chronic prostatitis and 16 cases of prostate cancer. DWI were obtained with a b-factor of 800 s/mm2. According to the pathological results obtained by ultrasound guided biopsy, the peripheral zone of prostate was divided into six parts by orientations and they were divided into noncancerous, hyperplasia, prostatitis and cancerous groups. The ADC value of each region was measured and analyzed with one-way ANOVA and ROC analysis. Results Acceptable images for ADC measurement were obtained in all cases. The mean ADC values of prostatic peripheral zone, prostatic central gland, inflammatory area and cancerous area were (2.20±0. 29)×10-3 mm2/s, (1.66±0.14)×10-3 mm2/s, (1.95±0.34)×10-3 mm2/s and ( 1.24 ± 0.32) × 10-3 mm2/s, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in ADC values between the inter-groups (P<0. 01 ). With ROC cut point setting to 1.49 ×10-3 mm2/s, the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity for prostate cancer were 86. 8% and 94. 0%, the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0. 945±0. 010. Conclusions ADC value might be useful to evaluate prostate cancer. DWI has an important clinical application value in the diagnosis and differentiation of prostate cancer.
