Objective To observe the effect of arthroscopic meniscectomy for symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus and the importance of early treatment. Methods Arthroscopic meniscectomy was performed on 29 patients (31 knees) with symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus. Partial meniscectomy was performed on 27 knees, subtotal meniscectomy on 4 knees with tear on the edge of meniscus. Results The operations on all 31 knees were successful without complications. Objective:To study the effect of portal vein occlusion on intestinal mucosal barrier in rats and the protection of ulinastatin to the injury,to present the experimental data for the clinical surgery.Methods:70 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into controlled group (n=10),operation group (n=30) and operation+medication group (n=30).The portal vein were occlused 40 min in the operation groups and operation+medication groups.2ml blood from portal vein,lymph nodes around appendix,1cm small intestine wall were taken for endotoxin levels,bacterial translocation and pathiology examinations in the all rats 280 mins after operation.The mocusal barrier and microscopic structure of intestine were observed.Results:Compared between the control group and the operation group,endotoxin levels,bacterial translocation rates rise greatly and gut structure change obviously in the latter.Compared between the operation group and operation+medication group,the former changes is also obvious.Conclusion:The occlusion of portal vein can leads the decrease of intestine mocusal barrier and the increase of its permeability.Ulinastatin has a good protective effect on the damages above.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the therapeutic effect of Yiqi Huaju Recipe (YHR) combined with routine therapy on the blood pressure, the blood pressure variability and other cardiovascular risk factors in hypertension patients complicated with metabolic syndrome (MetS).

METHODSTotally 43 hypertension patients complicated with MetS were recruited in this study and randomly assigned to the treatment group (22 cases, treated with basic routine treatment +YHR) and the control group (21 cases, treated with basic routine treatment + placebo). The treatment course was 12 weeks. Detected were parameters such as 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist to hip ratio (WHR), homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), fasting glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2 h postprandial plasma glucose (2 h PPG), fasting plasma insulin (FPI), serum lipid, etc.

RESULTSThe anthropometric parameters and plasma glucose levels (except HbAlc) were obviously lowered after treatment than before treatment in the treatment group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Besides, better effects were obtained in the WC, WHR, 2 h PPG, FPI and HOMA-IR (P < 0.05). The average blood pressure amplitude, the blood pressure variability, and blood pressure load at any time point were more obviously improved in the two groups after treatment than before treatment (P < 0.01, P < 0.05). Besides, partial indices were better in the treatment group than in the control group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSYHR combined with routine therapy exhibited better effect on reducing the blood pressure amplitude, the blood pressure variability, and the blood pressure load in hypertension patients complicated with MetS. It could also effectively decrease the risk of other vascular disease.

Objective To investigate the basis of ultrasound microbubble technology enhanced thermal ablation effect.Methods All 48 rabbits bearing hepatic tumors were averagely randomly divided into four groups:only laser group,sham,destruction + laser group,and blank group.The filling defect area changes of before and after treatment were observed and the differences between groups were compared.Results Pathology confirmed ablation of tumor tissue could produce coagulation necrosis for experiment group.The conventional ultrasound showed there was no significant variation in the maximum diameter and area in the pre and post treatment of experiment group and control group(P ＞0.05).There was no change for the control group.Ultrasound imaging showed an area of filling defect were:laser treatment alone group (0.83 ± 0.06) cm2,microbubbles false break combined with laser therapy group (0.65 ± 0.05) cm2,microbubbles break combined with laser therapy group (2.40 ± 0.16)cm2,blank control group (0.01 ± 0.01) cm2.The filling defect area of the treatment group,which was combined with ultrasound microbubble break technology and laser ablation was increased,there was significant variation in the each group (P ＜0.05).Conclusions Microbubble burst combined laser ablation could expand the single needle laser ablation area of rabbit VX2 liver tumor and increase the therapeutic effect.

AIMTo study the preconditioning effects and mechanism of action of sodium ferulate (SF) on primary cultured myocardial cell injury induced by anoxia/reoxygenation.

METHODSCultured myocardial cells of neonatal SD rats were randomly divided into ten groups: control group: without any treatment; anoxia/reoxygenation group (A/R), reoxygenation of 1 h following anoxia of 3 h; anoxia preconditioning group (AP), reoxygenation of 30 mins following anoxia of 30 mins, three times before the same procedure as group A/R; SF preconditioning groups, 20 mins of SF (1.68, 0.42, 0.105 mmol x L(-1) in final concentration) preconditioning followed by 10 mins wash out before A/R; K+ATP channel blocker group, NOS inhibitor group and PKC inhibitor group, adding gliberclamide, L-NAME, ploymyxin B at final concentration of 12 g x mL(-1), 50 micromol x L(-1), 50 micromol x L(-1), to culture medium respectively 10 min before the same procedures as SF preconditioning group (1.68 mmol x L(-1)). Myocardial cells pulse rate and rhythm, myocyte viability, the activity of LDH and CK in culture, the contents of intracelluar MDA, LD in myocardial cells, the activity of SOD and GSH-Px of the cultured myocardial cell were measured at the end of experiment.

RESULTSCompared with control group, anoxia/reoxygenation caused great increases of levels of LDH, CK, MDA and LD (P < 0.01), decreases of myocardial cells pulse rate, cell viability, SOD and GSH-Px (P < 0.01); SF preconditioning significantly attenualed these increases and decreases. Glib, L-NAME, and Ploy B partly abolished the effects of SF preconditioning.

CONCLUSIONSF preconditioning is effective in protecting myocardial cells from anoxia injury. The cardioprotective effect of SF preconditioning is produced by multiple factors.
