BACKGROUND: Currently, acid etching and bonding technology have been widely used in clinical stomatology. Data have indicated that the main content of inorganic elements (calcium and phosphorus) has a certain difference between the dental enamel and dentin of the young and adult permanent teeth. OBJECTIVE:To measure the content of main inorganic elements, calcium and phosphorus, in the dental enamel and dentin from young and adult permanent teeth with spectrophotometry and ethylene diamine tetraacetie acid titration method. METHODS:Each 20 adult and young permanent teethin vitrowere selected. Plaster stone and water was mixed; when it was nearly dried, the teeth were verticaly cast in the mixture and the tooth surface was exposed. The models were cut into the slices using syj-200 precision cutting machine, and then the slices were put into nitric acid and dissolved through heater to prepare standard solution. At last, the concentrations of calcium and phosphorus in the hard tissue of both young and adult permanent teeth were measured with spectrophotometric method and titration method. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The content of calcium and phosphorus and calcium/phosphorus ratio in the hard tissue of young permanent teeth were less than those of adult permanent teeth (P < 0.05), reflecting that the organic matter content was more than that in adult permanent teeth, but their mineralized degree was inferior to that of adult permanent teeth (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that the young permanent teeth are more acid proof than the adult permanent teeth; therefore, the acid etching time can be properly prolonged for young permanent teeth in clinical treatment, in order to achieve better effects.

Chinese Journal of Ultrasonography 2008;17(6):521-525
Objective To evaluate the value of ultrasound in diagnosing shoulder lesions. Methods Ultrasound images were obtained by two museuloskeletal sonologists in 111 patients suspected of having rotator cuff and non-rotator cuff lesions which were confirmed by following arthroscopic surgery. Results The arthroscopic findings demonstrated that there were two or more lesions in one patient in majority of patients, included 67 supraspinous tendon tears,5 infraspinous or subscapular tendon injuries,10 calcific tendonosis,2suprascapular notch cysts,34 subaeromial bursitis,1 intrabursa loose body,13 biceps longus tendon dislocation or disruption, and 21 lahrum injury. The accuracy of ultrasonogrpahy was 92% in diagnosis of supraspinous tendons tear,97% in subscapular tendon inj uries,96% in calcific tendonitis,1 00% in suprascapular notch cysts,88% in subacromial bursitis,100% in biceps longus tendon dislocation or disruption, and 81% in labrum injury. Conclusions Ultrasound can evaluate shoulder lesions effectively.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(3):632-636
Multilevel models are applicable to both the quantitative data and categorical variables. We used the methods, including the multilevel models, analysis of covariance and CMH chi-square test, to analyse different types of data, to explore the application of multilevel models in the analysis of the multicenter clinical trial center effect. The results showed that the analysis of covariance is more sensitive to find the center effect for quantitative data, while multilevel models are more sensitive to categorical variables. It can be seen that results with different analytical methods for center effect are not the same, and the most appropriate method should be selected in accordance with the characteristics of data, the objective of research, and the applicable conditions of the various methods in practical use.

Objective To investigate the effects of Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training combined with drop foot stimulator on gait function in patients with stroke. Methods Thirty-six stroke patients were randomly divided into control group (n=18) and observation group (n=18). Both groups received routine rehabilitation training. The control group accepted Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training, while the ob-servation group worn drop foot stimulator in addition. The training intensity was 30 minutes every day, five days per week for 6 weeks. Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Lower Limb (FMA-LL), Functional Ambulation Category (FAC) and footprint analysis were used to evaluate the motor ability of lower limbs, walking ability and gait before and after training. Results There was no significant difference in the scores of FMA-LL, FAC and gait parameters (walking speed, stride width, stride length difference) before training (t<0.765, Z=0, P>0.05). The scores of FMA-LL, FAC and walking speed improved, and the stride width and stride length difference decreased after training (t>2.190, Z>3.630, P<0.05). After training, the scores of FMA-LL, FAC, walking speed and stride length difference were better in the observation group than in the control group (t>2.030, Z=-2.560, P<0.05), however, there was no significant difference in stride width between two groups (t=0.570, P>0.05). Conclusion Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training combined with foot drop stimulator could improve the lower limb motor func-tion and gait ability in patients with stroke, and the effect might be better than using Lokomat robotic-assisted gait training only.

Objective:To analyze the ultrasonographic images and clinical characteristics of congenital mesoblastic nephroma (CMN), and to investigate the differential performances with Wilm′s tumor (WT).Methods:Twenty-one cases of CMN patients confirmed by pathology from December 2008 to December 2019 in Beijing Children′s Hospital, Capital Medical University were collected as the CMN group, and in the same criterion, 51 cases of WT patients were taken as WT group. Ultrasonographic images and clinical characteristics were collected retrospectively, and then the tumor size, site, echo and age were compared and analyzed between the two groups. ROC curve was used to evaluate the differential performance. Results:The difference analysis showed that except for echo ( P=0.694), there were statistically significant differences in tumor size, site and age between the two groups (all P<0.05). In prenatal, the incidence of CMN was significantly higher than WT (61.9% vs 3.9%, P<0.001), and the specificity was 96.1%. The median age (interquartile range) of CMN after birth was significantly earlier than WT( Z=-4.044, P<0.001). The area under the ROC was 0.949, the best cutoff was 112.5 days, with a sensitivity of 87.5% and a specificity of 93.9%. Conclusions:It is difficult to distinguish CMN and WT by echo, but the diagnosis performance can be improved through combining tumor size with site, especially age.

AIM: To investigate the association between HBV infection and HLA-DPB1 gene in population of Guangzhou Chinese. METHODS: 58 unrelated patients (test positive of HbsAg,HBeAg,HbcAb) and 75 unrelated healthy control individuals were typed by sequencing based typing (SBT) method in their HLA-DPB1 gene. RESULTS: The phenotype frequencies of HLA-DPB1 alleles of patients and control have no significant difference. CONCLUSION: These results indicate that there is no association between HLA-DPB1 gene and HBV infection.
