1.Professor Xu Fu-song's traditional Chinese medicine protocols for male diseases: A descriptive analysis.
National Journal of Andrology 2015;21(4):342-344
OBJECTIVETo analyze the efficacy and medication principles of Professor Xu Fu-songs traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) protocols for male diseases.
METHODSWe reviewed and descriptively analyzed the unpublished complete medical records of 100 male cases treated by Professor Xu Fu-song with his TCM protocols from 1978 to 1992.
RESULTSThe 100 cases involved 32 male diseases, most of which were difficult and complicated cases. The drug compliance was 95%. Each prescription was made up of 14 traditional Chinese drugs on average. The cure rate was 32% , and the effective rate was 85%. Professor Xu Fu-song advanced and proved some new theories and therapeutic methods.
CONCLUSIONProfessor Xu Fu-song's TCM protocols can be applied to a wide range of male diseases, mostly complicated, and are characterized by accurate differentiation of symptoms and signs, high drug compliance, and excellent therapeutic efficacy.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between apoE gene polymorphisms and gallstone. Methods We included all the published studies on the association between apoE gene polymorphisms and gall-stone. A meta-analysis was employed to summarize all these studies, calculate the pooled OR and its 95% confidence interval (95% CI) , and test the overall effects. The Egger's publication bias analysis and sensitivity analysis were carried out to evaluate the reliability and stability of the meta-analysis. Results Eleven association studies between the apoE gene polymorphisms and gallstone fulfilled our inclusion criteria. There were 1248 patients with gallstones and 1660 controls. Remarkable heterogeneities were discovered in the allele ε4 and genotype E3/E4 of apoE between gallstone and control subjects in these studies (P<0. 05). Their ORs and 95%CIs were 1.32 (1.01, 1. 71), 1. 60 (1. 04, 2. 46), respectively (P<0. 05). The results of sensitivity analysis and publication bias analysis showed the reliability and stability of this meta-analysis. Conclusion apoE gene polymorphisms are associated with gallstone. Those with the alleleε4 or genotype E3 /E4 had a higher risk of suffering from gallstone.

Chinese Medical Ethics 1995;0(03):-
The residual crown and root has very important physiological significances, but there are many problems in the clinical treatment, such as overtreatment and defensive treatment, etc. This article analyze the background and causes of these problems, and provids some corresponding ways to solve them.

Multilocus sequence typing (MLST) is a molecular genotyping method based on nucleotide sequencing. The procedure of this method characterizes isolates of bacterial species using the DNA sequencing of multiple housekeeping genes(usually seven). For each housekeeping gene, the different sequences present within a bacterial species are assigned as distinct alleles. For each isolate, the alleles at each of the loci define the allelic profile or sequence type (ST). MLST has the advantages of being robust (based on genetic data) and electronically portable to generate data that allow rapid and global comparisons between different laboratories. In this paper, the principle, method, data analysis, application, advantages and flaws of MLST are introduced.

ObjectiveTo investigate the long-term outcome of urethral reconstruction using colonic mucosa grafts for the treatment of long-segment,complex urethral strictures and to identify clinical factors that impact long-term outcomes. MethodsForty-six patients underwent colonic mucosal graft urethroplasty from October 2000 to September 2009 were retrospectively reviewed. The mean age was 39 years ( range,17 -70).The patients underwent an average of 2.7 prior unsuccessful repairs and the mean length of urethral strictures was 15.2 cm (range,10.0 to 20.0).The voiding status of all patients was evaluated postoperatively. Some of the paitents underwent uroflowmetry.urethrography and urethroscopy.Successful repair was defined as voiding well with urinary peak flow greater than 15 ml/s without the need for any post-operative procedures, such as dilatation. ResultsUrethral reconstruction was done with colonic mucosa grafts 11.0 -21.0 cm long (mean 15.4).One patient was lost to follow-up.Mean follow-up in the remaining cases was 62 months ( range 20 - 120 ).Complications related to urethroplasty developed in four patients (8.9%).Of these patients, meatal stenosis developed in three patients at 3,8 and 24 months respectively.Anastomotic site stricture occurred at the neourethra and proximal urethra in one patient at 29 months. In another two patients, recurrent strictures unrelated to urethroplasty were found. ConclusionsColonic mucosa graft urethroplasty could be an effective technique for the treatment of complex urethral strictures or panurethral strictures. The factors that impact long-term outcomes are meatal stenosis and stenosis at the anastomosis.

The article introduces a new method for three-dimensional reproduction of edentulous dental casts, and wax occlusion rims with jaw relation by using a commercial high-speed line laser scanner and reverse engineering software and evaluates the method's accuracy in vitro. The method comprises three main steps: (i) acquisition of the three-dimensional stereolithography data of maxillary and mandibular edentulous dental casts and wax occlusion rims; (ii) acquisition of the three-dimensional stereolithography data of jaw relations; and (iii) registration of these data with the reverse engineering software and completing reconstruction. To evaluate the accuracy of this method, dental casts and wax occlusion rims of 10 edentulous patients were used. The lengths of eight lines between common anatomic landmarks were measured directly on the casts and occlusion rims by using a vernier caliper and on the three-dimensional computerized images by using the software measurement tool. The direct data were considered as the true values. The paired-samples t-test was used for statistical analysis. The mean differences between the direct and the computerized measurements were mostly less than 0.04 mm and were not significant (P>0.05). Statistical significance among 10 patients was assessed using one-way analysis of variance (P<0.05). The result showed that the 10 patients were considered statistically no significant. Therefore, accurate three-dimensional reproduction of the edentulous dental casts, wax occlusion rims, and jaw relations was achieved. The proposed method enables the visualization of occlusion from different views and would help to meet the demand for the computer-aided design of removable complete dentures.
