To explore the effect and mechanism of Guhong injection against cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury, SD rats were randomly divided into the sham-operated group, the model group, the nimodipine group, and high, medium and low-dose Guhong injection groups, with 10 rats in each group. The middle cerebral artery embolization (MCAO) model was established to observe neurological deficit symptoms, infarct volume, SOD activity, MDA content, GSH-Px and CAT activity in rats, as well as the contents of t-PA, PAI, TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1α in serum. The results showed that Guhong injection could obviously promote the recovery of neurological deficit symptoms, narrow the brain infarct volume in rats after surgery, significantlyincrease the activities of SOD, GSH-Px and CAT and decrease the content of MDA. Meanwhile, it also could obviously increase the contents of t-PA and 6-keto-PGF1α and decrease the contents of PAI and TXB2 in serum, indicating that Guhong injection have better antioxidant and antithrombus effects, as well as a significant protective effect against cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury in rats.

Objective To investigate the distribution, clinical diagnosis and treatment methods of the extrapulmo-nary complications in children with mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP). Methods The clinical data of 1 100 patients confirmed the diagnosis of mycoplasma pneumonia and with the positive serum MP-IgM test were collected in this study. The distribu-tion and clinical characteristics and MP-DNA detection rates were compared between 417 patients with extrapulmonary com-plications and 683 cases without complications. The occurrence of various complications in a four-year period was analyzed. Clinical data were compared between fiberoptic bronchoscopy lavage group and non-surgical group. Results The MP-DNA detection rate and the length of hospital stay were higher in patients with pulmonary complications than those of patients without complications. The most common types of extrapulmonary complications were liver damage, skin rashes and gastrointestinal reactions , but less severe. Encephalitis, nephritis and myocarditis were rare complications, but severe and occult. The fatal hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) was also visible in patients. Bronchoscopy lavage was conducive to the recovery of the disease. Conclusion MP pneumonia showed high incidence and risks of extrapulmonary complica-tions, which required careful clinical observation and inspection, the dynamic monitoring laboratory markers and comprehen-sive treatment as well.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic advantage of the ratio of ligamentum flavum(LF) thickness to oblique canal diameter(TODR)measured on CT images in patients with lumbar canal stenosis. Methods Seventy-one patients underwent CT and MRI examinations respectively, and they were divided into two groups, the positive group and negative group, according to the presence or absence of dural sac notch caused by the LF on bilateral parasagittal MR images.Meanwhile,50 volunteers without any symptom in the lumbar region or legs were examined by CT.TODRs were measured at the L3—S1 levels of the inferior margin of the intervertebral disc on transverse CT images, respectively. The results were further analyzed with the positive findings on MR images, clinical symptoms and physical examination,so as to find out the statistical correlation between them. Results LF thickness was(3.01?0.72)mm and TODR was 0.19?0.04 in the negative group,(3.94?0.84)mm and 0.28+0.06 in the positive group,and(3.16? 0.85)mm and 0.19?0.04 in the control group. There was significant difference between positive group and negative group or control group for LF thickness(P0.24, the sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive value were 74.8%,89.6% and 73.6% respectively. Positive correlation existed between LF thickness or TODR and clinical symptom(r=0.72,0.86,P

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) infection on the expression of survivin and cell cycle in human tongue squamous carcinoma TSCCa cells.
METHODSThe proliferation of TSCCa cells infected with NDV in vitro was evaluated by means of MTT assay, and survivin expression in the infected cells was detected using RT-PCR and Western blotting. Flow cytometry was performed to assess the changes in the cell apoptosis, cell cycle and cell proliferation index (PI) of the cells.
RESULTSNDV infection resulted in decreased survivin expression and increased apoptosis of TSCCa cells, with reduced cell percentage in G2/M and S phases and lowered PI of the cells, showing significant differences from those of the negative control cells (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONNDV infection can inhibit survivin expression, affect the cell cycle of TSCCa cells and induce their apoptosis.
