Objective To compare three kinds of double-dosimetry algorithms used in estimating interventional radiology worker's effective dose. Methods TLDs were put in the Alderson Radiation Therapy Phantom (ARTP) dressed with lead apron, lead cap and lead collar.TLDs were put on the front left chest inside the lead apron and on the left outside lead collar, respectively.Radiation scattering models,intensity-modulated radiotherapy body model at one time and CT dose detection model at another time, were put on the operating table. The ARTP was set at the major operator's position exposed to the Xray, mimicking the real interventional radiology operation.Effective doses were estimated on the basis of organ absorbed doses.Effective doses were also obtained by the use of three kinds of double-dosimetry algorithms. The later three effective doses were compared with the first one. Results Two groups of effective doses were obtained, with each including four data. For intensity-modulated radiotherapy body model, effective doses were 0.138 mSv for phantom method,0.097 mSv for NCRP algorithm,0.161 mSv for Niklason's algorithm and 0.173 mSv for Boetticher's algorithm, respectively. For CT dose detection model, effective doses were 0.018,0.013,0.019 and 0.026 mSv,respectively. The result obtained by using the Niklason's algorithm was the closest to that by using phantom method. Conclusions Niklason's algorithm is more accurate and more practical in eatimating interventional radiology worker's effective dose.

Objective To investigate effects and safety of dexmedetomidine on the prevention of abnormal mental in patients after liver transplantation. Methods 160 patients after liver transplantation were randomly divided into the two groups using the drawing method:midazolam group(n =80),dexmedetomidine group(n =80),compared the two groups of patients with general, mental abnormality and the occurrence of adverse reactions. Results There were no significant differences in the general situation (gender, age, postoperative ventilator time,ICU stay time,oper-ation time, blood FK506 concentration,APACHEII score 24 hours after operation)of the two groups of patients (P >0.05),the spirit of the abnormal rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P =0.009), incidence of hypotension and hypertension in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P =0.035,0.029).Conclusion Dexmedetomidine can effectively reduce the postoperative mental disorders in patients in the early stage after liver transplantation.

Objective To explore the association between the genetic polymorphism of hypoxia inducible factor 1 α (HIF-1α) G1790A and the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods A total of 189 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma treated with radical radiotherapy were followed-up for 3 years. The patients were divided into cured group with 135 cases and recurrence group with 54 cases by clinical follow-up results.PCR-RFLP was used to determine the mononucleotide genotypes of HIF-1α G1790A.Results The observed genotype frequencies of HIF-1α gene 1790 (G→A) for GG, GA and AA were 70.04% , 20.74% , 2.22% in cured group and 59.26% , 38.89% , 1.85% in recurrence group, respectively. The allele frequencies for G and A were 87.4% , 13.9% in cured groups and 78.7% ,21.3% in recurrence group, respectively, without significant difference in distribution of allele frequencies between the two groups(x2 =6.919, P =0.077).Conclusions The genetic polymorphisms of HIF-1α G1790A might be related with the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Starch a natural polymer that is characterized by cheap, regenerative, and good biodegradation is generally mixed with low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystryrene to prepare degradable materials. In order to relieve "white pollution" due to undegradability of plastic materials, starch is mixed with polyvinyl alcohol, polylactic acid, poly-hydroxybutyric acid, polycaprolactone, chitosan, derivatives, and other degradable polymers to prepare fully degradable biomaterials. With gradual exhaustion of petroleum and progressive depravation of environmental quality, starch that is regarded as a reinforcing agent is widely used in rubber industry. Starch is characterized by hydrophilicity, difficulty in processing, and poor compatibility to plastic materials, rubber, and other polymers, so starch is firstly modified and then mixed with polymers to make starch. This study was designed to summarize the application of starch in plastic materials, rubber, and other polymer blends and to investigate the latest research progresses of starch in polymer materials.

Objective To study the impact of psychological care and health education on patients with digestive tract cancer and abnormal emotion receiving chemotherapy. Methods A retrospective analysis was carried outin 245 patients with malignant digestive tract cancer from July 2005 to July 2009 treated in our hospital, 147 cases of these patients received psychological care and health education besides conventional therapy were set as the intervention group, 98 cases given only basic nursing care were set as the control group. The clinical efficacy was analyzed in the two groups before and after chemotherapy using anxiety and depression indexes as indicators. Results After chemotherapy, SAS and SDS scores were significantly lower, while the survival time was significantly higher in the intervention group than those of the control group. Conclusions Psychological care and health education can reduce abnormal emotion in patients with malignant digestive tract cancer receiving chemotherapy and prolonged their survival time.

Objective To discuss the clinical significance of anomalous origination of right gastric artery in interventional treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods The dynamic enhanced CT scanning of the liver with a 64-slice spiral CT unit was performed in 72 HCC patients. In arterial phase, maximum intensity projection(MIP) and volume reconstruction technique(VRT) were used to observe the origin of the right gastric artery and its relationship with the hepatic artery. The findings were compared with the angiographic results. Results Of the total 72 cases, the anomalous origin of the right gastric artery was found in 43(59.8%).The anomalous origins of the right gastric artery included proper hepatic artery(n=19),left hepatic artery(n=17),gastroduodenal artery(n=4),right hepatic artery(n=2) and common hepatic artery(n=1).The results obtained from three-dimensional reconstruction were in good accordance with angiographic findings. Conclusion The anomalously originated right gastric artery most commonly originates from the left hepatic artery.Three-dimensional reconstruction obtained from the 64-slice spiral CT scans can provide the clear and reliable images of the right gastric artery, which is very helpful for the interventional procedure.
