2.Updates in the research of Roux stasis syndrome
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2015;14(7):593-597
Roux-en-Y procedure has widely been used for digestive tract reconstruction after distal or total gastrectomy, and the Roux stasis syndrome is one of the most common complications. The symptoms of Roux stasis syndrome include abdominal pain, abdominal distention, nausea, vomiting and anorexia.Abdominal movement of the intestinal loop and reversed peristalsis cause delayed passage of gastric contents, which is the main cause of the Roux stasis syndrome.Prokinetic agents and electronic stimulation have been investigated as potential nonsurgical treatment methods for Roux stasis syndrome.Uncut Roux-en-Y anastomosis has been found to be effective in preventing Roux stasis syndrome. In the future, precise evaluation of the psychological changes of the digestive tract after the Roux-en-Y anastomosis and understanding the mechanism of Roux stasis syndrome would be more effective to help the surgeons to resolve the problems.
3.Clinical Study on Treatment of Obesity of Gastrointestinal Excessive Heat by Puncturing Acupoints of Stomach Meridian
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2007;5(4):224-229
To investigate the function of the acupoints of the stomach meridian in the treatment of obesity of gastrointestinal excessive heat. Methods: Fifty-one cases of the patients with obesity of gastrointestinal excessive heat were randomly allocated into two groups. The acupoints of the stomach meridian were mainly selected for the treatment group (A), and the combination of Back-Shu and Front-Mu points were used for the control group (B). The treatment was given once every other day, with one month as a course, 3 courses in total, to observe the changes in the symptoms and signs of the patients and to determine the obesity index before and after treatments and the experimental indexes such as leptin, blood lipids, blood sugar and ACHE. Results: In comparison of the control group, various obesity indexes could be significantly reduced (P<0.01), hyperleptinemia and fat metabolic disturbance could significantly improved (both P<0.05) and the imbalance status of the parasympathetic hyperfunction could be significantly reversed (P<0.05) in the patients with obesity in the treatment group. Conclusion: The stomach-meridian acupoints can function on many rings in the occurrence and development of obesity and are key and effective acupoints for obesity of gastrointestinal excessive heat.

Chinese Journal of Behavioral Medicine and Brain Science 2015;24(10):912-914
Objective To investigate the association of α-synaptophysin A53T gene polymorphism with parkinson's disease(PD) in Chinese people. Methods The conventional polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the α-synaptophysin A53T gene polymorphism in 224 sporadic PD patients(PD group)and 154 healthy individuals(control group).According to the Hoehn-Yahr(H-Y) classification standard, PD patients were divided into H-Y ≥ 3 group(n=172) and H-Y ≤ 2.5 group(n=52).Each genotype and alleles frequencies as well as the A53T gene expression and their relation to the severity of parkinson's disease were analyzed with Chi-square test of SPSS19.0.Results The frequency of the A53T genotype of A/A were 40(17.9%) and 10(6.5%) (x2 =10.267, P=0.001, OR=3.13,95% CI =1.514-6.473) in the PD group and control group, respectively. The frequency of the allele A was 160(35.7%) and 70(22.7%) (x2 =14.543, P=0.000, OR=1.889,95% CI =1.359-2.625) in the PD group and control group, respectively. The frequency of the A53T genotype of A/A was 30(17.4%) and l0 (19.2%) in the H-Y ≥ 3 group and H-Y ≤ 2.5 group, respectively, with significant difference (P=0.003,0.007) as compared to the control group. The frequency of the allele A was 122(35.5%) and 38(36.5%) in the the H-Y ≥ 3 group and H-Y ≤ 2.5 group, respectively, with significant difference (P=0.000,0.006) as compared to the control group. There was no statistically significant difference of the A53T genotype of A/A and the allele A between the H-Y≥3 group and H-Y≤2.5 group (P=0.768,0.841).Conclusion The A53T gene polymorphism is the risk factor of Parkinson's disease in Chinese people, but it isn't correlated to stage of sporadic parkinson' s disease.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Traditional Medical Formulae 2009;(7):74-76
Objective: To investigate the effect of astragalus on the serum levels of hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), renal function and the damage of renal morphology in ischemic acute renal failure (IARF). To study the protective mechanism of astragalus in IARF. Methods: The rats were pretreated with astragalus or vehicle for 3 days. IARF was induced by left renal artery clipping for 60 min, after the right kidney was removed. Biochemical parameters for serum HGF,blood urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine(Cr) were measured and histological analyses of the kidneys were performed by tubular grading. Results: There have no significant difference between the serum HGF levels of I/R controls and the levels observed in sham-operated group (P > 0.05). Serum HGF levels in astragalus treated group was significantly increased than those of I/R control group(P < 0.01) .After 4 h of I/R, serum levels of BUN and Cr were increased in I/ R control rats compare with Sham-operated rats(P < 0.01). Astragalus treatment reduced the levels elevation(P < 0.05). Simultaneously,. I/R-induced severe damage in renal morphology were significantly ameliorated by astragalus treatment(P < 0.01). Conclusions: Astragalus pretreatment can alleviate the damage of renal function in IARF. It is may be one of the mechanisms of astragalus for protecting renal tissue in IARF that astragalus can induce the expression of HGF.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2015;31(11):1567-1578
Angiopoietin-like proteins are a family of proteins that are closely related to lipid, glucose and energy metabolism, as well as angiogenesis. To date, eight Angptls have been discovered, namely Angptl1 to Angptl8 that play key roles in metabolic regulation and marker assisted selection. In this review, we summarized current progress on the structure, signaling pathways, upstream regulatory genes and metabolic network of Angptl1-8. Finally, in combination with our work, the status and problems of animal breeding as well as the future prospects for Angptls were discussed.

Journal of Integrative Medicine 2004;2(2):135-7
OBJECTIVE: To determinate the catalpol contents in dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu Decoction containing rehmannia root with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). METHODS: Catalpol was separated on a YWG-C18 column using water-acetonitrile (99.4:0.6) as mobile phase and detective wavelength at 210 nm. RESULTS: The linear curve of tested catalpol concentration within the range of 0.0536-5.3600 microg/microl was ideal (n=5, r=0.999 7). The average recovery rate of the dried rehmannia root and Taohong Siwu decoction was 98.7% (RSD=0.48%) and 98.2% (RSD=1.29%) respectively. CONCLUSION: HPLC method is accurate and valuable for the quality control of Radix Rehmanniae and Taohong Siwu Decoction.
