There are some methods to treat the phalangeal fractures. The objective of this study is to see effective treatment of phalangeal fractures by open reduction during Kirschner wires. This study was conducted at the traumatology and orthopedics department, Hue hospital, from May 2002 to May 2003. The follow up period was 3 months to 8 months after surgical treatment of 31/43 patients. Results: Hand function following open reduction: excellent: 10 cases (26.32%), good: 11 cases (28.95%), fair: 13 cases (34.21%), bad: 4 cases (10.52%). Complications: complications of K-wire fixation of this study had a low rate; the postoperative recovery was still limited. Conclusions: this technique is effective, safe, and inexpensive with low morbidity.

Fracture of the lateral Condyle of the Humerus in children accounted for 18.1% of total fractures of the regional elbow. During a 11 year-period, we operated 36 cases with fracture of the lateral Condyle of the Humerus. Our purpose is in papers: (1) determining diagnosis and classifying fracture of the lateral Condyle, (2) remark surgical technique and results. We used Kirschner wire for fixation of the fragment. We believe that a minium of two wires are necessary to prevent rotation. The fracture is usually sufficiently stable to allow wires removal by 6 to 12 weeks and to allow the patient to begin protected active range of motion of the elbow. 46 patients with occult fracture on middle third of tibia shaft due to many causes were surgical treated by intramedullary fixation with Küntscher nail: 37 patients were treated at Viet Duc Hospital from January 1996 to July 1999 and 9 patients were treated at Hospital No 103 from April 1993 to July 1999. Outcomes: very good 27 cases (84.37%), good 5 cases (15.63%). Advantages of this procedure were firm fixation; early rehabilitation that helping bone union; easy to use so that it can be used at all hospitals; dissection of periosteum in this procedure is less than fixation with screw that making less vascular damages and better healing. Disadvantages were higher risk of infections, slower bone union, and this procedure can’t be used for fracture of upper or lower third of tibia shaft

Nowadays, patients with mandibular, fractured usually be treated under 2 methods: surgical operation and orthopedics. From 1997-2004, there were 35 cases of mandibular angle fractures being treated by fixation technique with wire at Viet Tiep Hospital Hai Phong. The injuries was adjusted for right centric occlusion, operation fixed by steel thread and monitored within 24 weeks fewer than 6 steps (right after treatment, 2, 3, 8, 12 and 24 weeks). The results as followed: regard to anatomy respect, good 100% of cases; functionally, good 97%, average 2.9%; aesthetically, good 88.6%, average 8.6%, bad 2.8%. These results suggested that the treatment of mandibular angle fractures by fixation technique with wire is the good method if was suitably indicated.

Posterior lumbopelvic fixation with iliac screws is the most commonly used method for unstable spinopelvic injuries. It has certain limitations including inability to use distraction along the spinopelvic rod as an indirect reduction maneuver, need for complex 3-dimensional rod contouring and complications such as hardware prominence and soft tissue coverage. In the present case report, we described a surgical technique of lumbopelvic fixation with sacral alar screws for traumatic spinopelvic instability resulted from a unilateral Denis-III comminuted sacral fracture and the L5 burst fracture. On the opposite side of the sacral fracture, caudal screws were implanted into the pedicle of the S1, whereas on the side of sacral fracture, two sacral alar screws were placed parallel to the superior sacral endplate as well as the plane of sacroiliac joint. In addition, horizontal stabilization was conducted with cross-link connections to maintain the longitudinal traction. For sacral fracture associated with traumatic spinopelvic instability, this modified lumbopelvic fixation technique using sacral alar screws makes longitudinal reduction easier, requires less rod contouring, and reduces hardware prominence without compromising the stability.

Scapula fractures are rare and frequently occur secondary to high-energy trauma. Ninety percent of patients are often accompied with other potentially life-threatening injuries. Diagnosis of scapula fractures are often overlooked for the heavy injuries during the first diagnosing. Most patients can get satisfactory outcome by conservative treatment. However,the operative intervention should be considered for the patients who have displaced or intra-articular fracture in order to accelerat fracture healing and improve functional recovery. In this paper,we reviewed the diagnosis and treatment of scapula fractures.
