BACKGROUND: Glomerular filtration rate(GFR) is an important parameter for the evaluation and monitoring of renal function. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the relative 1 hour uptake of (99m)Tc-DMSA renal scan(DMSA- %uptake, TRUR) and GFR which was estimated by (99m)Tc-DTPA, serum creatinine and 24 hour-urinary creatinine excretion. METHODS: Between January 1998 and March 2001, 65 patients had undergone (99m)Tc-DMSA renal scan, (99m)Tc-DTPA renal scan, serum creatinine and 24 hour-urinary creatinine excretion. Of them, 42 patients had moderately or severely reduced renal function(DTPA-GFR

Korean Journal of Blood Transfusion 2014;25(1):18-27
BACKGROUND: For a rapid transfusion, pressure is sometimes applied to packed red blood cells during the operation. However, there are neither standard guidelines nor reported data regarding adequate change interval of transfusion kits. The aim of this study is to present relevant data by simulating a surgical situation. METHODS: Each unit of packed red blood cells was mixed with 50 mL of normal saline. Pressure (250 mmHg) was applied to the mixed red blood cells. Each filtration time was measured without change of the transfusion kit. The weight of the mixed red blood cells was measured before and after administration. The passed blood was examined microscopically for detection of possible microaggregation. Eight transfusion sets were tested with 70 packed red blood cells. RESULTS: International guidelines have recommended replacement of the transfusion set if flow rate decreased to less than 100 mL/min. The flow rate of five transfusion sets was recorded as less than 100 mL/min. The flow rate of the third packed red blood cells decreased to less than 100 mL/min. No microaggregate was detected. CONCLUSION: Therefore, we recommended replacement of the blood filter after filtering two units of packed red blood cells with pressure under operation room circumstances.

5.Correlation between microleakage and screw loosening at implant-abutment connection.
The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics 2014;6(1):35-38
PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between microleakage and screw loosening at different types of implant-abutment connections and/or geometries measuring the torque values before and after the leakage tests. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Three different abutment types (Intenal hex titanium, internal hex zirconium, morse tapered titaniuim) with different geometries were connected to its own implant fixture. All the abutments were tightened with a standard torque value then the composition was connected to the modified fluid filtration system. After the measurements of leakage removal torque values were re-measured. Kruskal-wallis test was performed for non-parametric and one-way ANOVA was performed for parametric data. The correlation was evaluated using Spearman Correlation Test (alpha=0.05). RESULTS: Significantly higher microleakage was found at the connection of implant-internal hex zirconium abutment. Observed mean torque value loss was also significantly higher than other connection geometries. Spearman tests revealed a significant correlation between microleakage and screw loosening. CONCLUSION: Microleakage may provoke screw loosening. Removing torque values rationally decrease with the increase of microleakage.

The high-pass filter which is designed to overcome the polarization voltage in the ECG measurements can affect the measurement of the ST-segment; but the accuracy of the ST-segment will have an impact on the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases. This paper used the ECG detection platform to test the effect of the high-pass filter at different frequency and studied the effect of the high-pass filter on the ST segment to ensure proper use of different application modes.
