Objective To investigate the protective effect of agmatine (AGM) against peritoneal inflammatory response and neutrophil (PMN) infiltration induced by zymosan (ZYM) in mice. Methods Thirty-six adult male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into sham group, model group, and AGM treatment group. Peritonitis model was reproduced by intra-peritoneal injection of 1 mg/mL ZYM (0.5 mL), while equivalent phosphate buffer saline (PBS) was given to sham group. 200 mg/kg AGM was injected into peritoneal cavity after ZYM challenge in AGM treatment group. Six mice in each group were sacrificed at 2 hours and 6 hours, respectively, after reproduction of the model. Blood sample and peritoneal lavage fluid (PLF) were collected. The levels of keratinocyte-derived chemokine (KC), macrophage inflammatory protein 2 (MIP-2), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukins-6 (IL-6) in serum and PLF were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The number of leukocytes and PMN in PLF were determined by hemocytometer and flow cytometry, respectively. Results Compared with sham group, all serum and PLF levels of KC, MIP-2, TNF-α and IL-6 were greatly elevated at 2 hours after ZYM injection in model group, while AGM treatment could dramatically reduce the levels of the above-mentioned cytokines in serum and PLF as compared with those of the model group [serum KC (ng/L): 990.7±137.9 vs. 2 053.2±262.7, MIP-2 (ng/L): 642.2±124.4 vs. 1 369.7±146.5, TNF-α (ng/L): 608.6±38.1 vs. 1 044.7±101.0, IL-6 (ng/L): 1 058.2±129.1 vs. 1 443.3±190.1; PLF KC (ng/L): 7 462.3±839.6 vs. 12 723.5±1 515.7, MIP-2 (ng/L): 1 570.8±193.4 vs. 3 471.4±384.7, TNF-α (ng/L): 1 115.8±156.7 vs. 1 499.2±231.2, IL-6 (ng/L): 2 646.5±223.2 vs. 3 126.7±291.4; all P < 0.05]. The expressions of KC, MIP-2 and TNF-α at 6 hours were significantly lower than those at 2 hours in model group and AGM treatment group, but IL-6 levels were further increased. The levels of KC and MIP-2 in serum and PLF at 6 hours were decreased to the levels of sham group. At 6 hours after the reproduction of the model, the number of total inflammatory cells and PMN of PLF in the model group was significantly higher than those of the sham group. In contrast, AGM notably lowered the number of inflammatory cells and PMN in peritoneal fluid after ZYM attack [total inflammatory cells (×109/L): 14.7±1.1 vs. 2.0±0.4, 10.1±1.2 vs. 14.7±1.1; PMN (×109/L): 11.37±1.22 vs. 0.18±0.05, 7.69±0.57 vs. 11.37±1.22, all P < 0.05]. Conclusion AGM can effectively alleviate acute peritoneal inflammatory injury induced by ZYM, mainly through reducing the secretion of inflammatory mediators and chemokines, and inhibiting the infiltration of leukocytes and neutrophils.

Objective:To investigate the effects of rosuvastatin and lfuvastatin on patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) combing impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).
Methods: A total of 215 consecutive ACS patients combing IGT treated in our hospital from 2009-05 to 2011-05 were studied. The patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, Rosuvastatin group, the patients received rosuvastatin10mg/day, n=108 and Fluvastatin group, the patients received fluvastatin 40mg/day, n=107. The total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels before and at 6, 12, 24 months after medication, fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2-hour postprandial glucose (2hPBG) and the number of new-onset of diabetes patients were compared between 2 groups.
Results: After treatment, the TC, LDL-C levels were decreased (6, 12, 24 months) and the HDL-C level (12, 24 months), 2hPBG (24 months) were increased in both groups. Compared with Fluvastatin group, Rosuvastatin group had decreased TC and LDL-C (6, 12, 24 months), and increased LDL-C (24 months). With 6, 12, 24 months treatment, the blood lipids reached the standard were more in Rosuvastatin group than those in Fluvastatin group as 35.3%vs 26.1%, 36.4% vs 22.0%, 43.1% vs 31.8% respectively, all P<0.05. With 12 and 24 months treatment, the new-onset diabetes patients in Rosuvastatin group were 11 and 18, in Fluvastatin group were 12 and 17. With 12, 24 months treatment, FBG, 2hPBG levels and the number of new-onset diabetes patients were similar between 2 groups, P>0.05.
Conclusion: Compared with lfuvastatin, the conventional dose of rosuvastatin could better reduce the blood lipids level in ACS patients combing IGT, the effects for preventing ACS patients from IGT to diabetes were similar for both drugs.

Objective:To understand the status of life quality related to cough in lung cancer patients after video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and to explore its influencing factors based on enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS).Methods:By using the convenience sample way, a total of 140 patients in lung cancer who were admitted to the VATS from Chinese Academy of Medical Science, Cancer Hospital were selected as study objects from June to August 2020. Mandarin Chinese version of the Leicester cough questionnaire(LCQ-MC) was used to measure the status of life quality related to cough in lung cancer patients after surgery. The influencing factors were analyzed by single factor analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis. Results:The score of LCQ-MC of patients after VATS (15.83±1.93) was significantly lower than before (19.03±1.64) ( t value was 17.149, P<0.01) . In terms of physiology, psychology and society, the score of LCQ-MC after VATS (4.88±0.84, 5.25±0.71, 5.70±0.73) was also apparently lower than before (6.23±0.77, 6.20±0.84, 6.60±0.72) ( t values were 14.816, 11.338,11.276, P<0.01).The single factor analysis indicated that life quality related to cough had some connections with age( F value was 3.274), cough condition before surgery ( t value was -2.174), operation methods ( F value was 2.837), the time of chest tube retained ( F value was 3.690) and drinking ( t value was -3.033) after VATS( P<0.05). The multiple-factor result showed that age, cough condition before surgery and the time of chest tube retained were the independent factors affecting the life quality related to cough in lung cancer patients after VATS( P<0.05). Conclusion:The lung cancer patients after VATS cough obviously, and their life quality is lower. At the same time, it has some effect on physiology, psychology and society to a certain extent. Medical staff should pay more attention to the elderly and who cough obviously and develop individual interventions before the surgery. After that, in order to remove the chest tube as early as possible, the guidance of pulmonary rehabilitation and mental nursing should be suggested to patients to improve their life quality.

Chinese Journal of Clinical Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2024;31(09):1288-1293
Objective To investigate the current status of control preference in the surgery of lung cancer patients and explore its correlation with perceived social support. Methods General information questionnaire, control preference scale, and perceived social support scale were used to investigate the lung cancer patients who underwent surgery in Beijing Cancer Hospital from February to May 2022. Results A total of 360 survey questionnaires were distributed, and 344 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective rate of 95.6%. The expected participation style of patients was passive in 145 patients (42.2%), while the actual participation style was more inclined to be active in 154 (44.8%) patients. The compliance rate of patients’ expected and actual participation styles in the treatment control preference process was 61.9% (Kappa=0.437, P<0.001). The results of the analysis of influencing factors showed that the level of cultural education was an influencing factor in the actual participation of lung cancer patients in surgery control preference (P=0.029). The results of Spearman's correlation analysis showed that the actual participation of lung cancer patients in surgery control preference was positively associated with perceived social support (r=0.159, P<0.01), and its dimensions including family support (r=0.152, P<0.01), friend support (r=0.133, P<0.05), and other social support (r=0.142, P<0.01). Conclusion Patients’ expected control preference style is generally consistent with their actual control preference style, which is influenced by their cultural education and positively correlated with perceived social support. Medical and nursing staff should pay attention to the participation style of patients taking surgery decisions, develop decision aids according to different education levels, and develop individualized interventions from the perspective of improving social support initially, to improve patients’ treatment compliance and treatment care satisfaction.
