1.The Biological Effects of Rape-pollen Collected from Honey-bees on the Growth Hematopoiesis of Mice
Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(02):-
The biological effects of rape pollen collected from the honey-bees were evaluated through the feeding experiments of the pollen to different species of mice.It was found that the young mice of pollen-fed group gained weight more evidently than those of the control taking ordinary food(P

Objective To study the curative effect of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on elderly patients with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) complicated with diabetes mellitus. Methods Eighty patients with OSAHS and diabetes mellitus were included and randomly divided into treatment group (n=40) and control group (n=40). The control group was given conventional treatment including diabetes diet and hypoglycemic drugs. The treatment group was given Futong ST-25 continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) ventilation besides the conventional treatment. The serum levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), two-hour postprandial blood glucose (2 hPG), insulin, sleep apnea hypop-nea index (AHI), low oxygen saturation (LSpO2) and the longest apnea time were monitored before and after treatment in two groups. Results After four-week treatment, values of FPG, 2 hPG, AHI and the longest apnea time were significantly lower in treatment group than those in control group (P < 0.01), but values of insulin, two-hour postprandial insulin and LSpO2 were significantly higher in treatment group than those in control group (P<0.01). Conclusion CPAP therapy can effec-tively decrease blood sugar level and improve AHI, LSpO2 and the longest apnea time in elderly patients with OSAHS compli-cated with type 2 diabetes.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1988;0(06):-
Thirty-four cases out of 830 children with diarrhea were confirmed to be positive of fecal cryptosporidial oocysts with IFA technique and monoclonal antibodies in a period of 2 years. These 34 cases could be diagnosed as cryptosporidial enteritis. Their age ranged from 4 months to 7. 6 years with an average of 2. 5?1. 7 years. The stool was frothy and watery in appearance. High incidence occurred form June to September. Determination of PHA skin test, LBT and serum Ig was performed on 27 patients before, during and after the treatment of Astragalus membranaceus Bunge and Sophora flavescens Ait ( 2 traditional Chinese herb medicines). It was found that diarrhea lasted 10. 9?7. 1 days and oocyst shedding lasted 21. 5? 12. 3 days. Before treatment) PHA skin test showed an erythema of 7. 9?2. 4 mm in diameter, and LBT value was 48. 7%?10. 1% and they returned to normal after treatment. It is suggested that hot safrain-methylene blue stain and modified acid-fast stain of the stool be performed in those children with diarrhea of unknown etiology as a routine screening for cryptosporidial oocysts. The 2 Chinese herb medicines may have a repelling effect on the parasites and be. helpful to the cell immunity of the patients. Asymptomatic carriers of cry-tosporidial oocysts may be the source of infection.

BACKGROUND:Volar locking plate is the dominant treatment of distal radial fractures, but it is difficult to judge the distance between the plate position and the carpal articular surface, thus leading to screw penetration of the articular surface. Arthroscopy or operative perspective has their pros and cons, there is no simple and effective method of positioning the plate.
OBJECTIVE:To find the optimal position of Volar LCP in distal radius fractures and explore the role of computer simulation in this treatment.
METHODS:The CT data of the wrists in 20 adult patients were col ected to calculate 3D models of the radius by MIMICS software. 3D model of the LCP was calculated by UG in working station. The distance between the plate and the distal radius joint was measured by computer simulation, and the mean value was calculated. A total of 33 Patients with distal radial fractures were divided into two groups:conventional treatment group (regular X-ray and CT) and computer simulation group (preoperative plan based on the computer-measured data).
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The safe distance between the screw center and the articular facet was 11.13 mm in males and 10.97 in females. The number of radiation and operating time were shortened significantly in computer simulation group (P<0.05). Experimental findings indicate that, computer simulation is a powerful tool to find the optimal position of volar LCP in the distal radius fractures. The time of the operation and X-ray fluoroscopy are also shortened significantly.
