2.Intestinal microorganisms and allergic diseases.
Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(5):351-355
According to the 'hygiene hypothesis', the intestinal microbes would not only regulate local immune status, but also affect systematic immune homeostasis, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases. This review will mainly focus on investigating the intricate relationships among intestinal microbes, immune system and allergic diseases. Multiple factors affecting gut microorganisms may influence the immune homeostasis directly and later become risk factors of allergic diseases. This point of view may pave the way for the design of new interventions to the diseases.

Chinese Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy 2009;09(4):280-282
Objective To investigate the antibiotic-resistant gene mecA and the prevalence of Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) gene, toxic shock syndrome toxin (TSST-Ⅰ) gene in S. aureus. Methods A total of 74 S. aureus were collected from clinical specimens. The mecA, PVL and TSST-Ⅰ genes were detected by PCR.Results PVL gene was identified in 22 S. aureus isolates. The prevalence of PVL was 29.7% in S. aureus, 36.6% in MRSA and 21.2% in MSSA. The difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05). The prevalence of MRSA was 55.4% in 74 S. aureus. The prevalence of TSST-Ⅰ gene was 6.8%. TSST-Ⅰ gene was not detected in MSSA.Conclusions MRSA strains show highly resistant to antibiotics. PVL- and TSST-Ⅰ-positive S. aureus are more pathogenic.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2013;27(23):1337-1338
The clinical and pathological data of eight cases of nasal solitary keratoacanthoma were analyzed and relevant literatures were reviewed. All of the cases were verified via pathological examination after local lesion excision, along with reconstruction of tissue defects in external nose. The patients were all primary healed. With a follow up from 8 months up to 7 years, only one case relapsed one year after first surgery, and given another operation, no recurrence happened thereafter. The other seven cases did not recur so far. The nasal solitary keratoacanthoma is a squamous tumor with potential malignancy, which manifests similarly with squamous cell carcinoma, and the correct diagnosis requires comprehensive judgment from both the clinical and histopathological characteristics. The disease shows favorable prognosis and low recurrence rate.

5.Problems and Suggestions for the Novelty Retrieval of TCM
Fengling LI ; Kunjie YANG ; Jun XU
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(4):362-363
The Document Retrieval Center of TCM, founded in 1992, plays an important role in the novelty retrieval of TCM scientific researching projects and clinic researches. But there are still some problems needed to be improved. The author suggests that relative governmental agents and staffs who engage in novelty retrieval should think highly of the novelty retieval of TCM to establish and consummate relative rules and regulations in order to provide the qualified services.
6.Renal inflammatory pseudotumor (report of 10 cases)
Qingyou ZHENG ; Xuehui YANG ; Fengling SUN
Chinese Journal of Urology 2000;0(12):-
Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of renal inflammatory pseudotumor (RIP). Methods 10 cases of RIP treated from 1970 to 1999 were reviewed and the diagnosis and treatment were discussed. Results The main clinical manifestation of RIP were fever, lumbago and hematuria.6 of 10 underwent nephrectomy because of the suspicion of kidney cancer whereas the other 4 were cured by antibiotics without recurrence on following up for 1~5 years. Conclusions RIP is rare, the diagnosis being based on clinical symptoms together with dynamic B ultrasound and CT scan.Needle biopsy is indicated to establish the diagnosis if necessary.Antibiotics is usually effective.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(4):243-245
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the clinical features and treatment of tuberculous otitis media and mastoiditis.
METHOD:
Thirteen patients with tuberculous otitis media and mastoiditis were retrospectively analyzed and the related literatures were reviewed. One case was treated by surgery only, and anti-tuberculosis treatment was given to another one patient, and surgical removal of disease lesions in combination with anti-tuberculosis treatment were given to 12 patients.
RESULT:
One patient received surgery only was found to recur after follow-up for seven months. The patient did not recur after seven months' follow-up after antituberculosis therapy, and other patients did not recur.
CONCLUSION
Although the regular anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy treatment was the main treatment for tuberculous otitis and mastoiditis, surgical treatment was helpful to achieved more rapid healing of the ear.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2016;30(3):235-237
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the clinical features and medication of unilateral idiopathic vocal fold paralysis.
METHOD:
Thirty-nine of medical treated patients with unilateral idiopathic vocal fold paralysis were retrospectively studied, and relevant literatures were reviewed.
RESULT:
After 4 to 19 days of medical therapy, 9 patients were cured, the vocal fold movement of 18 sufferers were improved, and 12 pantients were not healed.
CONCLUSION
Unilateral idiopathic vocal fold paralysis is common, and the treatment efficacy of medicine is almost the same with others. Unilateral idiopathic vocal fold paralysis is a disease with spontaneous recovery, which should be followed up.
