Objective To investigate the interaction between uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) and host uroepithelial cells, define the role uroepithelial cells play in initiating and modulating the host response to infection with UPEC strain. Methods The human bladder transitional epithelial EJ cells were evaluated for their capacities to allow the adherence and invasion by UPEC132, a clinical strain isolated from Tianjin, China, and a cDNA microarray for 22 000 human genes was used to identify the gene expression differences between EJ cells infected with UPEC132 and uninfected EJ cells. Results Microscope observation showed that UPEC132 could adhere to EJ cells with the adherence rate of (73.20 ± 5.26)%. And visualization by confocal microscope revealed that this microorganism could be seen within the cells. EJ cells infected with UPEC132 changed mRNA expression of a total of 29 genes, including 28 genes up-regulated and 1 gene down-regulated. Of these, regulators of growth and proliferation, cytokines, and modulators of apoptotic responses were the most prominent. Conclusion The gene expression profiling of EJ cells is affected by the infection of UPEC strain. The differentially expressed genes may contribute to further investigate the interaction of UPEC and uroepithelial cells.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) for duodenal cysts. Methods Clinical manifestations, results of conventional gastroscopy and EUS, as well as follow-up, of patients with duodenal cysts were retrospectively analyzed. Results A total of 105 patients with duodenal cysts presented with no lesion-related symptoms, but displayed characteristic imaging changes under EUS, which could reveal the origin, size and nature of duodenal cysts, and differentiate it from other submucosal lesions.A maximum follow-up of 5 years showed no changes in duodenal cysts. Conclusion Duodenal cyst is a benign disease, and EUS plays a very important role in diagnosis of the disease.

Objective To introduce the experience of improved posterolateral mini-incision total hip urthroplasty(THA)in treatment of femoral neck fractures. Methods Of 199 patients(207 hips)treated with preliminary THA from October2002 to January 2005,them were46 patients(46 hips)with femoral neck fractures including31 fresh fractures and 15 old ones, which were then treated with posterolateral mini-incision THA.An observation was done on length of incision, operation time, volume of blood loss, drainage volume, hospital stays, postoperative complications, functional recovery and Harris score. Results All patients were followed up for 14-26 months(mean 17.2 months). The final Harris score during follow-up was(84.1±8.6)points in the fresh fracture group and(85.8±7.6)points in the old fracture group.Pestoperative X-ray showed sound position of the prosthesis. There was no statistical difference upon length of incision, operation time, blood loss, drainage volume and hospital stays between fresh fracture group and old fracture group(P>0.05).Dislocation occurred in one patient in each group. Conclusion Posterolateral mini-incision THA is proved to be successful in reducing surgical trauma, accelerating rehabilitation and decreasing blood loss and complications for patients with femoral neck fractures.

Objective To explore the effect of hiru doid combined far infrared ray on hemodialysis flow for hemodialysis fistula patients at first used .Methods Chosen 75 hemodialysis fistula patients and divied two groups.Traditional group (n=35) accepted the traditional hirudoid method after fistula operation , improved group (n=40) received hirudoid combined far infrared ray;research would compare the results of nursing care between two groups. Results The research showed the effective rate of nursing care was 95.00% in improved group, and was 48.57%in traditional group, the differences had statistical significance (χ2 =6.08,P<0.05);the vasal inner diameter and vasal thickness of improved group were (5.56 ±0.37)mm and (0.63 ±0.07)mm, and were (5.01 ±0.21),(0.54 ±0.04)mm of traditional group, the differences had statistical significance (t=2.65,2.71, respectively;P<0.05);hemodialysis flow 4 weeks after operation of improve group was (239.04 ± 35.43) ml , first used patients was(210.31 ±35.42)ml, the differences had statistical significance (t =3.85, P <0.05 ).Moreover, the improved group also contributed to the blood flow volume , angiostegnosis, hematoma. The rate of blood flow volume shortage , angiostegnosis, hematoma were 0.00%,5.00%,2.50%, comparing with 28.57%,20.00%,20.00%in traditional group, the differences had statistical significance (χ2 =4.03,3.96,3.99, respectively;P<0.05).However, the rate of thrombosis were 0.00% (improved group) and 8.57%( traditional group ) (χ2 =2.01, P >0.05 ).Conclusions Improved group advanced the hemodialysis flow by promoting fistula becoming mature , vasoactivity and fistula fibrillation , and reduced clinical complications and enhanced patients'the quality of life .

Objective:To investigate the relationship between prolonged PR interval and carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)in middle-aged and elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:A total of 537 middle-aged and elderly inpatients with T2DM in the Southern Branch of the Sixth People′s Hospital of Shanghai Jiaotong University from January 2019 to January 2021 were selected as the research objects. Color Doppler ultrasound was used to detect bilateral carotid artery intima-media thickness(CIMT). The subjects were divided into carotid atherosclerosis group(CAS group, n=352)and non-carotid atherosclerosis group(NCAS group, n=185). The difference in the PR interval of ECG between the two groups was compared. Pearson or Spearman rank correlation analysis was used for evaluating the correlation of PR interval and CAS lesions with various clinical index. The relationship between PR interval and CAS lesions was adopted by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results:The average PR interval of middle-aged and elderly patients with T2DM was(164.57±23.02)ms. The average PR interval in CAS group was significantly higher than that in NCAS group [(169.76±24.28) vs (154.70±16.42)ms, P<0.01]. The results of multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that age, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, serum osteocalcin, and PR interval were independent factors influencing the development of CAS lesions in middle-aged and elderly patients with T2DM( OR=1.079, 1.936, 0.879, 1.039, respectively, P<0.05 or P<0.01)where each 1 ms increase in PR interval was associated with a 3.9% increase in the risk of CAS in middle-aged and elderly patients with T2DM( OR=1.039, 95% CI 1.006-1.073, P=0.020). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that middle-aged and elderly type 2 diabetic patients with PR interval≥158 ms were 4.072 times more likely to have CAS lesions than those with PR interval<158 ms( OR=4.072, 95% CI 1.417-11.702, P<0.01). Conclusion:The PR interval of electrocardiogram is correlated with CAS lesions in middle-aged and elderly patients with T2DM. Middle-aged and elderly type 2 diabetic patients with significantly prolonged PR interval should be reminded to screen for CAS lesions early.
