Since its discovery, the retinoblastoma (RB) tumor-suppressor protein has become a focal point of caner and cell cycle research, and subsequently discovered members(pRB,p107,p103) of the RBfamily have been proved to play a important role in the cell cycle and the development of cancer. RB regulates the cell growth, development and differentiation via the interactions with E2f and some other cytokines, and its alternation even make the tumor formation. In comparison with some other tumors, colorectal cancer(CRC) has the different expression of RB.We may assume that the different causes of CRC and some unique functions of RB in CRC lead to the alternation.

Objective Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) can induce infection in multiple organs, including genitouri-nary system, central nervous system and liver. It can even lead to serious defects and death. China, as a high-incidence area of HCMV, need employ early treatment. However, the sensitivity of present HCMV diagnosis is not satisfied. Methods In the present study, we focused on transcription level of HCMV IE and pp67 mRNA using real-time quantitative PCR. Results IE mRNA was positive even in a portion of patients who were regarded as negative by traditional DNA diagnosis method. On the other hand, pp67 mRNA that were normally expressed at the late stage of HCMV infection was 100%posi-tive in the first-visit patients who were regarded as positive using traditional DNA diagnosis method. Conclusion The pres-ent study indicated that mRNA detection based on PCR method was more sensitive compared with DNA detection for assess-ing HCMV virus infection. Finally, different treatment should be performed upon mRNA transcription profile at different in-fection stages.

BACKGROUND: The inheritance tendency and immunity imbalance of atherosclerotic brain infarction (ABI) have attracted the attention of many scholars at home and abroad, which suggests that immune mechanism plays a key role in ABI development. It has been found that ABI is related to polymorphism of human immune inheritance gene (HLA), particularly HLA-DR gene.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the correlation between HLA and ABI immune heredity.DESIGN: Single sample and single factor analysis.SETTING: Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University; Neurological Department of the First Hospital of Harbin City.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 31 patients in experimental group and 30 healthy people in control group, whose three generations were of the Han Nationality in north China and who had no blood relation, were selected from Department of Neurology in First Hospital of Harbin between January 1998 and December 2000.METHODS: The experiment was conducted in the Blood Research Center of Department of Neurology in First Hospital of Harbin between June and December 2003.5 mL peripheral blood in both groups was taken to extract genome DNA with the previous method. Human HLA gene map had been described at gene bank in the Internet, in which mono-nucleic acid obtained from HLA of the sixth chromosome were retrieved. Each DR and DQ allele, sense primer and antisense primer were composed selectively. Amplification of DNA fragment was checked respectively and specifically. The primer was provided by Shanghai Gene Research Institute. PCR instrument (4 800) and its related reagents produced by PE Company (the US) were used. Fourfold table exact probability method was used to calculate the relative risk (RR) and P value.which was obviously higher than that of other sites (P < 0.05). However, associated with the ABI susceptible gene of the Han Nationality in north China.

AIM To investigate the expression of pep-tide transporter (PEPT)2 mRNA in the lungs of ratswith lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced acute lung inju-ry. METHODS Health male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into 5 groups: normal control, cheally) given groups. Lung histopathological changes were observed under light microscope. Lung wet-to-dry weight (W/D) ratios, total protein concentration in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and lung my-eloperoxidase(MPO) activity were measured. The ex-pression levels of PEPT2 mRNA were evaluated by semiquantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS Typical pathological inflammation changes in the lungs, including alveolar congestion, hemorrhage, edema, infiltration of neutro-phils in the air space or vessel wall, thickness of the alveolar wall, and hyaline membrane formation, were observed in LPS groups. The lung W/D ratios in LPS 2, 4 and 8 h groups (4.72±0.18, 5.06±0. 17 and 5.12±0.16) were significantly higher than those innormal control and saline groups (4.12±0. 15 and 4.14±0.11). Compared with normal control and sa-g-1 wet tissue], MPO activity increased obviously in LPS2,4 and 8 h groups[(1.96±0.15), (2.23±protein concentration in BALF in LPS 2, 4 and 8 hgroups [ (36.6±2.9), ( 86.9±3.5 ) and (92.2±There was no statistical difference in PEPT2 mRNA levels in the lungs of rats among all groups. CON-CLUSION PEPT2 mRNA level does not change sig-nificantly in the acute injured lung tissue induced by LPS.

Objective To probe into the relationship of the cumulative effect of childhood trauma types and symptoms of depression and anxiety among pregnancy women. Methods A total of 276 cases of pregnancy women were investigated by using Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ- SF), the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Results The cumulative number of childhood trauma types were positively correlated with the scores of EPDS, state anxiety and trait anxiety (r=0.245, 0.262 and 0.292, P<0.01);the scores of CTQ-SF, EPDS, state anxiety and trait anxiety of multi-CTQ group were higher than that of non-CTQ group, as well as the positive rate of depression symptom and anxiety symptom (P<0.05 or 0.01);Logistic regression analysis showed that the cumulative number and accumulation group of CTQ may be predictors or risk factors of depression and anxiety of women during pregnancy, and existed cumulative effect. When the cumulative number of childhood trauma types more than two types, it increased 2.37 and 3.12 times likelihood of depression and state anxiety comparing to non-CTQ group. Conclusions It suggested that childhood trauma experience may be a risk factors of depression and anxiety during pregnancy, and exist cumulative effect.
