Objective To observe the expression law of cytokine signaling suppressors (SOCSs) mRNA in burn rats with Staphylococcus aureus sepsis and investigate their potential role in the pathogenesis of postburn sepsis. Methods Wistar rats were inflicted with 20% TBSA Ⅲ? scald, followed by Staphylococcus aureus challenge. Then, the expressions of SOCS1, SOCS2 and SOCS3 mRNA and interferon-? (IFN-?) levels in the liver and lungs were determined. Results With Staphylococcus aureus challenge after burn, IFN-? levels in the liver and lungs were significantly elevated and reached peak at the 0.5th and 6th hours, respectively (P

Objective To explore the relationship between personality traits and facial emotion rec?ognition. Methods By opening recruitment,268 health undergraduates were measured using Eysenck Per?sonality Questionnaire and JACFEE facial emotion recognition test. Correlation analysis was administrated be?tween different gender, personality dimensions and facial emotion recognition ability. Results Female had better emotion recognition ability than male((44.18±5.83) vs (41.88±6.79), t=-2.976, P=0.003). There were significant differences among recognition frequency of no?expression picture to other basic facial emo?tions(χ2=37.877, P=0.004) . There were correlative relations between personality dimensions and facial e?motion recognition. Among choleric temperament personality,P dimension had negative correlation with fear emotion( r=-0.223, P=0.028). N dimension had negative correlation with fear emotion( r=-0.253, P=0.013) . Among sanguineous temperament personality,E dimension had negative correlation with contempt e?motion( r=-0.258, P=0.027) ,and P dimension had positive correlation with contempt emotion( r=-0.239, P=0.042).Among melancholic temperament,E dimension had positive correlation with fear emotion( r=0.283, P=0.023) ,and P dimension had positive correlation with amazing emotion( r=0.299, P=0.016) . A?mong phlegmatic temperament, there was no any correlation between personality dimension and emotion recognization. Conclusion Female has better emotion recognition ability than male. There is cognitive tend?ency between personality character and emotion recognition.

OBJECTIVETo study the clinical effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty in the treatment of fresh thoracolumbar fractures in the elderly.
METHODSFrom May 2004 to March 2009, among 29 patients (32 vertebras) with thoracolumbar fractures, 18 patients (21 vertebras) were treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and 11 patients (11 vertebras) were treated with percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP). The visual analogue scale (VAS) and mobility were evaluated 3 days before and after operation. During follow-up period, patients were observed and evaluated in terms of relief of back pain and regaining of living ability. Complications such as bone cement leakage were analyzed.
RESULTSAll the patients got successful operation. The average operation time was 38.6 minutes for the 18 patients (21 vertebras) with PVP performed, and 3.2 ml (2-5 ml) bone cement was injected. For the 11 patients (11 vertebras) with PKP performed, the average operation time was 43 minutes, and an average of 3.8 ml (2-6 ml) bone cement was injected. The VAS decreased from preoperative (7.5 +/- 0.7) to (2.2 +/- 0.5) at the 3rd day after operation; the mobility scores of the patients decreased from preoperative (2.4 +/- 0.6) to (1.2 +/- 0.3) at the 3rd day after operation; the vertebral height increased from an average of (52.4 +/- 9.7)% pre-operation to (85.2 +/- 10.6)% after operation; and the average kyphosis correction of Cobb angle was 11.2 degrees. During an average of 12.6 months follow-up, no patients reported vertebral pain. Review of X-ray films showed no significant loss of vertebral height. One patient died from complications of heart disease 5 months being discharged from hospital. Another patient died from the same cause at 6 months after opertaion. Paravertebral leakage of bone cement was also found in 2 patients. No serious complications occurred and patients were satisfied with the treatment.
CONCLUSIONPVP, PKP can be used to instantly reinforce vertebral injury, relieve pain, and improve the patient's mobility. For elder people with fresh thoracolumbar fractures, when health conditions are allowed, PVP or PKP surgery is the right treatment.

Objective To investigate the influence of nerve growth factor (NGF) on the ability of differentiation and proliferation of regulatory T cells (Tregs) induced by mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).Methods The MSCs were stimulated directly by NGF.IL-10,TGF-β and HLA-G were tested. The expression of CD4 and CD25 was detected by flow cytometry after co-culture.The expression of CD4,CD25 and Foxp3 was detected by flow cytometry after Transwell co-culture.Results As compared with control group, the expression of IL-10,TGF-β and HLA-G in NGF group was increased (P<0.05 for all). The number of Tregs was increased after the co-culture (P<0.05).The reduction in IL-10 and TGF-β could block the inducing function of NGF (P<0.05).Conclusion NGF can enhance the ability of differentiation and proliferation of Tregs induced by MSC,which is possibly associated with the increases in the expression of IL-10 and TGF-β.

Journal of International Oncology 2019;46(9):531-535
Objective:
To explore the independent predictors for disease-specific survival (DSS) rate in patients with stage N1-3 testicular seminoma (TS), and establish a nomogram to predict individual 5-year DSS.
Methods:
The data of N1-3 TS patients registered in the SEER database of National Cancer Institute (USA) from January 2004 to December 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. The 5-year overall survival (OS) rate and DSS rate were calculated using Kaplan-Meier method and the differences among different subgroups were assessed using log-rank test. Besides, the independent predictors of DSS were defined using multivariate Cox regression analysis, and nomogram was drawn using R software. Furthermore, the predictive performance of the nomogram was internally validated using the C-index and calibration plot.
Results:
TNM stage ⅢA (

As an important part of tumor microenvironment, neutrophils are poorly understood due to their spatiotemporal heterogeneity in tumorigenesis. Here we defined, at single-cell resolution, CD44-CXCR2- neutrophils as tumor-specific neutrophils (tsNeus) in both mouse and human gastric cancer (GC). We uncovered a Hippo regulon in neutrophils with unique YAP signature genes (e.g., ICAM1, CD14, EGR1) distinct from those identified in epithelial and/or cancer cells. Importantly, knockout of YAP/TAZ in neutrophils impaired their differentiation into CD54+ tsNeus and reduced their antitumor activity, leading to accelerated GC progression. Moreover, the relative amounts of CD54+ tsNeus were found to be negatively associated with GC progression and positively associated with patient survival. Interestingly, GC patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy had increased numbers of CD54+ tsNeus. Furthermore, pharmacologically enhancing YAP activity selectively activated neutrophils to suppress refractory GC, with no significant inflammation-related side effects. Thus, our work characterized tumor-specific neutrophils in GC and revealed an essential role of YAP/TAZ-CD54 axis in tsNeus, opening a new possibility to develop neutrophil-based antitumor therapeutics.
