AIM: To investigate the effect of canstatin on cultured rabbit vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMC). METHODS: By means of cationic liposome mediated method, canstatin RNA was transferred into cultured VSMC. The proliferation quantity of VSMC were determined by the cell counting method and thymidine(-TdR) incorporation. RESULTS: Canstatin RNA could be effectively transferred into cultured primary rabbit aortic smooth muscle cells by the cationic liposome-Dosper and could markedly inhibit VSMC proliferation. CONCLUSION: Transfection of canstatin RNA could inhibit the growth of VSMC in vitro.

Objective To understand the status of depression and quality of life in the patients with advanced gastric cancer , and to explore their relationship .Methods The depression self rating scale (SDS) and the Chinese Scale of World Health Organiza‐tion Quality of Life Scale‐Brief Form Questionnaire (WHOQOL‐BREF) were adopted to conduct the questionnaire investigation on 131 patients with advanced gastric cancer ,then the results were compared with those of the health population .Results Among 131 patients with advanced gastric cancer ,the prevalence rate of depression was 47 .33% ,and the average SDS score was 45 .99 ± 15 .47 ,which were higher than those of the health population .The scores of quality of life were 61 .61 ± 12 .66 for the physiologic health domain ,59 .54 ± 12 .49 for the mental health domain ,64 .95 ± 14 .16 for the social relation domain and 52 .93 ± 14 .07 for the surrounding environment domain .There was a significant correlation between the depression score with the four domains scores of life quality ,in which the correlation with the mental health domain was strongest (r= -0 .636 ,r2 =0 .405) .Conclusion High depression level and poor quality of life exist in the patients with advanced gastric cancer ,and there is a correlation between them , in which the correlation between depression with the mental health domain is strongest .

A new cadinane-type sesquiterpenoid, pogocablene P (1), and a new natural product with cyclohexanone skeleton, pogocablone A (2), were isolated from the EtOAc soluble fraction of the aerial parts of Pogostemon cablin by several chromatographic methods, such as silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, ODS and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and so on. Their structures were identified by means of mass spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. In addition, the absolute configuration of compound 2 was determined by electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculation. However,50 mg(1/7 d)regimen has better compliance than 25 mg(1/3 d).

Objective To investigate the role of CD4~+CD25~+ Treg cells on the pathogenesis of ankylos- ing spondylitis(AS), and to study the machanism of tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-?blocker on the treatment of AS by detecting the number of CD4~+D25~+ Treg cells before and after the treatment. Methods The diagno- sis of 10 AS patients was made based on the 1984 modified New York criteria. The patients received subcuta- neou injection of recombinant human tumor necrosis factor receptor-Fc fusion protein(rhTNFR-Fc)(etaner- cept)50 mg weekly for 8 weeks and 10 heathy subjects were enrolled for control. The mononuclear cells were isolated from peripheral blood in beth patients and controls. The number of CD4~+CD25~+ T cells and CD4~+ CD25~(high)T cells and the expression of CTLA-4. were detected by flow cytometry. Objective Using Intelligence Scale of Mini Mental State Estimated (MMSE) as the gold standard to determine the relevance of International HIV-associated Dementia Scale (IHDS)in minority ethnic areas in Guangxi populations with different cultural values.Corresponding boundary value related to the authenticity and reliability on IHDS were also evaluated.Methods 200 patients with HIV infection were randomly selected from the minority ethnic groups in Guangxi.For each infected person,MMSE and IHDS blind scale were tested at the same period.Using the results from MMSE scale test as the gold standard,ROC curve and IHDS scale in Guangxi minority populations with different education levels which related to the diagnosis of dementia-HIV values were determined.The value of a specific sector under the IHDS sensitivity,specificity,and internal consistency coefficients was also evaluated.Results When considering the infected person did not differ on their educational level,the IHDS scale diagnostic cutoff appeared as 8.25,while 1HDS sensitivity as 0.925,specificity as 0.731 and Kappa as 0.477 (P＜0.001).When considering the extent of cultural differences did influence the prevalence of infection,the different education groups showed different IHDS diagnostic cutoff values.People with high school,secondary school or higher education levels,the IHDS diagnosis appeared to be 8.25,when sensitivity was 0.917,specificity was 0.895 and Kappa was 0.722 (P＜0.001).People with only primary education level,the IHDS appeared to be 7.25.When sensitivity was 0.875,specificity was 0.661 and Kappa was 0.372 (P＜0.001).Conclusion The IHDS diagnostic sector in Guangxi minority groups was lower than the internationally recommended level of diagnostic cutoff value (IHDS≤ 10 points).When using IHDS to perform the HIV related dementia screening program,in the minority areas of Guangxi,culture context,the degree and difference of HIV infection should be considered,especially in using IHDS diagnostic cutoff values.

Objective To evaluate the effect of application of clinical nursing pathway to treatment of acute ST--Elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).Methods A total of 60 STEMI patients were divided into two groups.Experimental group were received treatment and care according to the designed STEMI clinical pathway table.Control group were treated and nursed with the conventional emergency mode.Results The time of emergency PCI of the experimental group was less than teat of control group(P<0.05)treatment success rate was higher than the control group.Total hospital costs,medicine costs and hospital days were significantly lower in experiment group,while health education and satisfaction were significantly higher(P <0.05).Conclusions The application of clinical pathway in the STEMI could win precious time of their treatment for patients,reduce medical costs and improve quality of care.It is in line with the current demand of China's health system and therefore is worth to promoting.
