1.Research advances in cell surface ATP synthase
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2009;29(6):741-743,761
Mitochondria ATP synthase is a key enzyme in cellular energy interconversion. It is generally believed that ATP synthase is strictly confined to mitochondria. However, it has been demonstrated that ATP synthase also occurs on the extracellular surface of vascular endothelial cells, tumor cells and adipocytes, instead of normal cells. Based on this characteristic, many functional researches have been conducted on the angiogenesis, tumor inhibition and lipid metabolism, and the mechanism on which this enzyme works has been preliminarily elucidated. The research advances in cell-surface ATP synthase are reviewed in this paper.

Objective To evaluate the effects and safety of PercuSurge distal protection device(DPD) in coronary intervention in patients with acute myocardial infarction. Methods From December 2003 to December 2005, 174 acute myocardial infarction patients who received primary coronary intervention were included into this study. Patients were divided into the DPD group (n=78) and the control group (n=96) according to whether Percusurge DPD was attempted during emergency PCI. The basic clinical characteristics, angiographic results, and follow up data before discharge were compared. TIMI flow grades and myocardial blush grades were performed in all cases after emergency PCI. Results Success application was achieved in 72 out of 78 patients with PercuSurge DPD with varies extent of material collected from the basket. There was no significant difference between the two groups in basic clinical characteristics and angiogram before PCI. Post-PCI TIMI flow grades (94.9% vs 79.2%) and myocardial blush grades (2.65?0.68 vs 2.22?0.94) were significantly higher in the DPD guoup than in the control group(P

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(38):185-187
BACKGROUND: Observation and comparison about space-occupying lesions due to herniated nucleus pulposus, as well as nerve root compression in lumbosacral disc herniation and manipulative therapy are easily available; however, there is still lack of related quantitative research regarding the internal pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus.OBJECTIVE: To observe the influence of the internal pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus on nerve root compression in patients with lumbosacral disc herniation.DESIGN: Case control study.SETTING: Bone Setting Therapeutic Center, the Air Force General Hospital of Chinese PLA.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 30 patients with lumbosacral disc herniation received operation in the Orthopedic Department of the Air Force General Hospital between October 2002 and December 2003; meanwhile, 15 patients with lumbosacral disc herniation received manipulative therapy in the Bone Setting Therapeutic Center of the same hospital.ing positive group and negative group according to the results of straight leg raising test. The pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus was detected during operation, and the straight leg raising height was also recorded beThe size of intervertebral disk herniated nucleus was presented by the maximum vertical distance from the intervertebral disk herniating apex to the posterior edge of vertebra on CT and/or MRI transverse section.raising height.RESULTS:Totally 30 patients received operative treatment whereas 15The pressure in lumbosacral disc herniated nucleus andthe size of herniated nucleus pulposus: as for patients who received operation, the pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus was obviously higher in positive group than in negative group [(2.119±0.753), (0.483±0.420) kPa, P < 0.01]. However, the size of herniated nucleus pulposus was not significantly different between positive group and negative group [(4.688±1.991), (4.857±2.033) mm,nipulative therapy, their straight leg raising height was obviously increased compared to that before operation [(54.000±16.388)°, (72.668±15.338)°,P < 0.01], but the size of herniated nucleus pulposus was proved not obviously changed by CT or MRI examination after manipulative therapy (P > 0.05).cleus pulposus on nerve root is related to the iuternal pressure of herniated nucleus pulposus; higher internal pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus would limit straight leg raising height while lower internal pressure has less effect. However, the compression of herniated nucleus pulposus on nerve root has no obvious relationship with the size of herniated nucleus compression by reducing the internal pressure in herniated nucleus pulposus, which may not only depend on changing the space-occupying of herniated nucleus pulposus.

Chinese Journal of Gastroenterology 2014;(9):554-556
Background:The incidence of duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia is low and the etiology and pathogenesis has not yet been clarified. Aims:To investigate the relationship between duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia and Helicobacter pylori( Hp ) infection. Methods:A total of 96 patients with duodenal Brunner ’s gland hyperplasia diagnosed by pathological examination from October 2005 to December 2013 at People’s Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region were enrolled in this study, and 270 cases without duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia were served as controls. Hp infection was detected by 14 C-urea breath test( 14 C-UBT). The relationship between duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia and Hp infection was analyzed. Results:In the duodenal Brunner ’s gland hyperplasia group,75 patients were Hp positive, the proportion of Hp infection was 3. 57( 75/21 ). In the control group,110 cases were Hp positive, the proportion of Hp infection was 1. 45(160/110). The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(χ2 =10. 97,P=0. 001). Hp infection was a risk factor of the genesis of duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia( OR=2. 46, 95% CI:1. 44-4. 19). Conclusions:Hp infection may be related with the genesis of duodenal Brunner’s gland hyperplasia.

This study investigated the role of glucose in the biogenesis of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). Mouse primary peritoneal macrophages were harvested and maintained in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) containing glucose of various concentrations. The cells were divided into 3 groups in terms of different glucose concentrations in the cultures: Control group (5.6 mmol/L glucose), high glucose concentration groups (16.7 mmol/L and 30 mmol/L glucose). ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) mRNA expression in the macrophages was detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR 24, 48 and 72 h after glucose treatment. The results showed that ABCA1 mRNA expression in the 16.7 mmol/L glucose group was not significantly different from that in the control group at all testing time points (P>0.05 for each). In the 30 mmol/L glucose group, macrophage ABCA1 mRNA expression was not changed significantly at 24 h (P=0.14), but was substantially decreased by 40.4% at 48 h (P=0.009) and by 48.1% at 72 h (P=0.015) as compared with that in the control group. It was concluded that ABCA1 is of vital importance for HDL-C biogenesis. High glucose may hamper HDL-C biogenesis by decreasing ABCA1 expression, which contributes to low HDL-C level in diabetes.
