Objective:To investigate the effect of Vitapex paste in the root canal for deciduous teeth with chronic apical periodontitis.Methods:200 children with chronic apical periodontitis were selected and divided into two groups.The observation group (108 cases)was given Vitapex paste.The control group (92 cases) was given Zinc oxide iodoform paste.The effect of Vitapex paste in root canal for deciduous teeth with chronic apical periodontitis was evaluated by filling quality after 1 month'treatment,the VAS scores before and after treatment,long-term curative effect were compared between two groups.Results:After 1 month'treatment,the suitable filling rate of observation group was higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05).There was no statistical significance in the VAS scores between two groups (P＞0.05).After 1 week'and 1 month'treatment,the pain feeling were alleviated in two groups and significantly lighter in the observation group(P＜0.05).After 6 months' follow-up,the success rate was 96.3％ in the observation group and 87.0％ in the control group,the success rate of observation group was higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05).Conclusion:The filling process of Vitapex paste was simple and easy,which had a good therapeutic effect on chronic apical periodontitis of deciduous teeth and could relieve the toothache of patients.

OBJECTIVETo study the imaging findings outcome of the percutaneous laser disc decompression (PLDD) and evaluate the middle-term safety and efficacy of PLDD.

METHODSThe imaging data of 22 cases suffered cervical spondylosis or lumbar spondylosis and treated by PLDD more than 3 years were retrospectively reviewed. To observe the intervertebral space of the invasive disc and the intervertebral disc hernia before and after the operation on the lateral projection of X-ray and the axial view of the MRI. To make a statistical analysis of the data.

RESULTSThere was no obvious change of disc height involving the anterior disc height, the intermediate disc height and the posterior disc height after the PLDD at the final follow-up (P > 0.05). At last time follow-up, the Sagittal Index (SI) are 0.10 - 0.54 and 0.06 - 0.39 before and after the PLDD in the treatment of cervical vertebra. The statistical difference were significant (P < 0.05). In lumbar vertebra, the SI is 0 - 0.71 and 0 - 0.48 disc before and after the PLDD. The statistical difference were very significant (P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONSThe PLDD will not destroy the intervertebral space of the cervical and lumbar vertebra obviously; moreover, it can effectively reduce the disk hernia. The PLDD is a safe and effective Mini-invasive surgery for cervical vertebra and lumbar vertebra diseases.

Objective To compare the safe zone and safe angles between males and females for screw placement on the medial iliosciatic plate for acetabular posterior column using 3D reconstruction technique.Methods Normal pelvic CT scans of 52 adults (27 males and 25 females;aged from 18 to 74 years,averaging 47.2 years) were obtained to create pelvic 3D models.After the acetabulum was thickened by 5 mm,the width (d) of the safe zone for placement of the medial iliosciatic plate was measured.After the vertical distance (w) between the vertex of the obturator canal and the greater sciatic notch was measured,the ratio (r) of d/w was calculated.The recombined innominatum model was cut through the center of the acetabulum with a plane perpendicular to the quadrilateral plate and the greater sciatic notch.The cross-section was marked as M.In males,4 points at distances of 1.0 cm,1.5 cm,2.0 cm and 2.5 cm anterior to the greater sciatic notch were marked.At the 4 points,the angulations (∠ a,∠b,∠ c and ∠ d) between the quadrilateral plate and the tangent line of the outer edge of the thickened acetabulum model were measured on the cross-section M.In females,3 points at distances of 1.0 cm,1.5 cm and 2.0 cm anterior to the greater sciatic notch were marked before ∠a,∠b,and ∠c were measured.The differences in the above parameters were compared between males and females.Results The width (d) of the safe zone for placement of the medial iliosciatic plate was 28.56 ±2.44 mm in males and 24.36 ±2.47 mm in females;the ratio (r) was 0.61 ± 0.07 in males and 0.54 ± 0.05 in females.The safe angulations for screw placement in males,∠ a,∠b,∠cand ∠d,were 88.04°±3.18°,77.81°±3.85°,68.01°±4.11°and56.81°±4.81° while those in females,∠a,∠b and ∠c,were 91.29°±4.52°,76.23°±3.82° and 62.79°±3.51°,respectively.There were statistically significant differences between males and females in values of d,r,∠ a and ∠ c (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions In fixation of acetabular posterior column fractures using medial iliosciatic plate,the differences between males and females should be taken into account.Besides,specific safe angles should be chosen according to the position of the plate.

To evaluate the efficacy and accuracy of photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) for myopia and myopic astigmatism .SVS APEX excimer laser with a wave length of 193 nm(Sumit Technology Inc. Waltham, Mass, USA) was applied. 316 myopic eyes of 168 patients were treated with PRK between September, 1996 and October, 1997, and 260 eyes (84%) of 150 patients were followed for more than three months, including male 68(116 eyes, 40.1%) and female 82(144 eyes, 59.9%). The preoperative spherical equivalent refractive errors ranged from -1.25D to -10.00 (mean -4.67±1.63D), and astigmatism ranged from 0 to -2.00D (means -0.33±0.45D). We divided the patients into two groups according to the referaction: group A (from -1.25D to -5.90D) and group B(from -6.00 to -10.00D). The number of eyes in the two groups were 220 and 40 respectively. In group A, on the 10th day, 68.9% has the uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) equal to or one line better or lower than the preoperative best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). In 1,3,6 and 12 months, 90%, 96%, 95% and 94% had the UCVA equal to or one line better or lower than the preoperative BCVA respectively. In group B, on the 10 th day, in 1,3,6 and 12 months, UCVA equal to or one line better or lower than the preoperative BCVA occurred in 35.9%, 83%, 87%, 86%, and 84% of the cases respectively. Most of the haze showed 0.5～1 grades except 3 eyes with the haze of 2 grade in 3 or 6 months and it changed to 1 and 0.5 grade respectively within one year. In 10 days and 1,3,6,12 months postoperatively, the corneal haze was noted in 32.9%, 84.8%, 62.8%,9.0% and 2.8% of the treated eyes respectively. We found that 193 nm excimer laser PRK was a predictable, safe, stable, and effective refractive surgery for correcting myopia up to -10.00D in Chinese patients, and the effect was better in myopia lower than -6.00D.

Objective To establish the platelet antigen panel for identifying the specificity of platelet antibodies which cause platelet transfusion refractoriness and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia and provide evidence for clinical therapy and platelet genotyping research.Methods Based on the frequency distribution of human platelet alloantigen (HPA)-1 to HPA-16 gene in China, the frequencies of HPA-1 to HPA-6,HPA-15 alleles in blood group O donors were genotyped by the polymerase chain reaction with sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP) method, and suitable donors were chosen to establish platelet-specific antigen panel.Using the established platelet-specific antigen panel, the specificity of platelet antibodies caused by alloimmune reaction was identified by using simplified sensitized erythrocyte platelet serology assay (SEPSA).Results Eleven ptatelet donors with blood group O were chosen to establish platelet-specific antigen panel which can identify specificity of HPA-1 to HPA-6, HPA-15 antibodies.One case of HPA-4b (Penb) and two cases of HPA-15a (Govb) platelet specific antibodies were detected in 1 120 samples.Conclusion Identifying the specific platelet antibodies using platelet specific antigen panel has profound significance on increasing the safety and effectiveness of clinical platelet transfusion and prevention of neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia.

Objective To approach the efficiency and feasibility of preserving the fertility for patients with placental site trophoblastic tumor ( PSTT ).Methods Totally 2 086 cases of gestational trophoblastic neoplasm ( GTN) patients registered in Peking Union Medical College Hospital between 1998 and 2013.Fifty-seven of them were PSTT patients , 40 cases of which suffered hysterectomy , the rest 17 PSTT patients who preserved their fertility were analyzed retrospectively.The computerized database of clinical and pathological reports was reviewed in this cohort.Results The clinical manifestation of PSTT was not specific compared to other types of GTN.The average age of the 17 patients was 29.5 years old (range 22-39 years).The most common antecedent pregnancy was term birth (8 cases), the others were spontaneous abortion in 4 case, artificial abortion in 3 cases and molar pregnancy in 2 cases.The baseline serum β-hCG was slightly elevated and 12 patients (12/15) were less than 1 000 U/L.In this cohort, nine of the patients were in stage Ⅰ, while the other eight cases were in stage Ⅲ .The patients suffered conservative surgery, including dilation and curettage of uterus in 7 cases, open abdomen uterine lesion excision in 4 cases, laparoscopic uterine lesion excision in 3 cases, hysteroscopic uterine lesion excision in 1 case, and pulmonary lobectomy in 2 cases.Two of the patients didn′t received chemotherapy , while the other 15 cases suffered combination chemotherapy.Compared with 40 patients who suffered hysterectomy during the same interval , fertility preservation group did not result in poor outcomes or high risk of relapse rate.Six subsequent pregnancies happened after the therapy , two of them were during their second-trimester, while four patients had healthy babies by vaginal delivery in two and cesarean section in two .The scar of the uterus was fairly well during the cesarean sections.Conclusions Reservation of fertility therapy could be considered in highly-selected patients for young women who strongly desired to preserve their fertility and with localized lesion.Exactitude follow-up after therapy should be recommended.Contraception should also be recommended for at least one year after the chemotherapy.Vaginal delivery could be an option for the future pregnancies.

Objective To survey the prevalence of hypertension in population of Keshan disease endemic areas, in order to provide a scientific basis for prevention and control of hypertension in rural areas of our country.Methods One hundred and twenty villages were selected as the survey places based on case-finding from 15 provinces including Gansu, Hebei, Henan, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shaanxi, Shandong, Shanxi, Hubei, Yunnan,Sichuan, Guizhou, Chongqing and Mongolia in 2009.The subjects were permanent residents in the survey places.Basic situation of all subjects was collected through the questionnaire survey and blood pressure was measured by a clinician.Diagnostic criterion for hypertension was based on the Chinese Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension.Results Totally 33 558 subjects aged 18 and over were surveyed, including 8 699 hypertension patients.The positive rate of hypertension was 25.9％ (8 699/33 558), among that 26.3％ (3 532/13 408) were males,and 25.6％ (5 167/20 150) were females.The positive rate of hypertension increased with age (x2 =3 348.325, P ＜0.05).In the classification of hypertension, the proportion of stage 1, 2 and 3 hypertension and isolated systolic hypertension was 31.8％ (2 770/8 699), 26.1％ (2 273/8 699), 17.2％ (1 492/8 699) and 24.9％ (2 164/8 699),respectively.Conclusions The positive rates of hypertension in Keshan disease endemic areas are higher than those of the national average (18.8％).Hypertension is a serious public health problem in Keshan disease endemic areas.The strategy of hypertension prevention and control should be formulated for remote rural areas.

Objective To investigate the relevance ratio of abnormal electrocardiogram (ECG) and describe the abnormal ECG index among the residents in Keshan disease (KD) area.To assess the KD illness severity and provide comparable quantitative indicators,provide the scientific basis for elimination of KD.Methods Non probability sampling method was used,and monitoring stations with the highest incidence of KD at the county level were selected in 2012.Clinical examination and 12 lead ECG was carried out.According to The KD Diagnosis Standard (WS/T 210-2011),eight common changes in ECG of KD were scored.According to age and sex group,check the abnormal rate of ECG detection of Keshan disease,while analysed the changes of abnormal ECG index score in latent KD patients and chronic KD patients.Abnormal ECG index to determine:If there was one change,the score was 1 and the abnormal ECG index was 1.And so on,the highest score was 8.Results Totally 61 831 residents were surveyed and 9 634 were found with abnormal ECG,and the relevance ratio of abnormal ECG was 15.58％;totally 3 862 residents had eight ECG changes of KD and the relevance ratio was 6.25％;totally 508 residents were diagnosed with KD and the relevance ratio was 0.82％.The relevance ratio of abnormal ECG among all age groups was statistically different (x2 =3 065.64,P ＜ 0.05).The relevance ratio of abnormal ECG in women was higher than that of men [3.91％ (2 419/61 831) vs 2.33％ (1 443/61 831),x2 =86.30,P＜ 0.05].Abnormal ECG index score was (1.06 ± 0.25) which was not statistically different between gender [men:(1.07 ± 0.27) vs women:(1.06 ± 0.24),t =1.41,P ＞ 0.05].The abnormal ECG index score in latent KD patients was lower than that of chronic KD patients [(1.09 ± 0.30) vs (1.60 ± 0.69),t =-4.87,P ＜ 0.05].In eight ECG changes,the most check out items were T wave and/or ST segment changes (2 816).Conclusions The relevance ratio of abnormal ECG in KD area is at a higher level.The abnormal ECG index can be used to assess the KD illness severity and provide comparable quantitative indicators,in order to provide a new train of thought for the evaluation of KD elimination.

OBJECTIVETo study the genotoxicity of carbon disulfide by detecting DNA damage in mice sperm with single-cell gel electrophoresis assay (SCGE).

METHODSSCGE was used to detect sperm DNA damage. The index of DNA damage, tail length and tail moment were used to evaluate the extent of DNA damage.

RESULTSIn three dosage groups, the rate of DNA damage (67.14%, 84.29% and 91.00%, respectively), index of DNA damage intensity (507, 656 and 745, respectively), tail length (5.87, 8.81 and 13.49 microm, respectively) and tail moment (1.30, 1.63, 2.66 microm, respectively) were significantly increased, while the percentage of head of the comet was significantly decreased (84.55%, 73.84% and 55.71%, respectively). A significant changes were clearly observed in all dosage groups compared to those of the control group (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONSCGE which is a quick and sensitive method to detect DNA damage induced by CS2 may be used to monitor carcinogen and mutagen.
