Objective To observe traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Huoxue Tongmai capsules (HXTMC) for the regulation of small molecule metabolites in plasma of patients with coronary heart disease and TCM blood stasis syndrome. Methods A prospective study was conducted in which 136 patients with coronary heart disease and blood stasis syndrome treated in Dagang district in Tianjin from January 2009 to December 2013 were selected and randomly divided into two groups:control group (68 cases) and HXTMC group (68 cases). The control group received the conventional oral therapy with nitrates, β receptor blockers, calcium antagonists, enteric coated aspirin, etc, and the HXTMC group received the conventional therapy and additionally oral administration of HXTMC, 4 capsules each time (each capsule 0.25 g), trice a day, 30 days constituting a therapeutic course, 3 courses in total. According to the standard of curative effect evaluation of angina pectoris in coronary heart disease, the clinic total curative effects of angina pectoris and electrocardiogram (ECG) were evaluated. The concentrations of copeptin, tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) in the plasma were tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the TNF-α/IL-10 ratio was calculated. Results The total clinical effective rates of patients and the ECG in HXTMC group were significantly higher than those of the control group [clinic total effective rates:89.71%(61/68) vs. 80.88%(55/68), ECG total effective rates:57.35%(39/68) vs. 48.53%(33/68), both P<0.05]. Concentration of copeptin and TNF-α/IL-10 ratio in the plasma after treatment of the both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the changes were more obvious in HXTMC group [copeptin (ng/L): 0.22±0.04 vs. 0.31±0.05, TNF-α/IL-10 ratio:0.49±0.11 vs. 0.65±0.09, both P<0.05]. Conclusion Addition of HXTMC to conventional therapy for treatment of patients with coronary heart disease accompanied by blood stasis syndrome can lower the plasma level of copeptin and TNF-α/IL-10 ratio, thus it may improve the clinical curative effects of the patients.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(16):2544-2549
BACKGROUND:Compared with smooth titanium, titania nanotubes cannot only induce mesenchymal stem cels osteogenic differentiation and promote bone integration, but also be used as drug nanocarriers. OBJECTIVE:To prepare dexamethasone-loaded titania nanotube system and to test its drug release characteristics. METHODS:Titania nanotubes were prepared by electrochemical anodic oxidation, and dexamethasone was dripped onto the prepared titania nanotubes. Subsequently layer by layer self-assembly technology was employed to fabricate gelatin/chitosan multilayered structure on the prepared samples. Scanning electron microscope and contact angle test were carried out during the process of building the gelatin/chitosan multilayered structure. The drug release was measured by a ultraviolet spectrophotometer. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Under the scanning electron microscopy, the fabricated titania nanotubes had integral structure with even tube size of about 70 nm and arranged regularly, and the nanotubes were completely covered and sealed by the gelatin/chitosan multilayered membrane. Contact angle test results showed that ever since the fifth layer, contact angles changed alternately and displayed a zigzag profile. Ultraviolet spectrophotometer test results showed that when cultured for 3 hours, the cumulative drug release was about 32.7% and demonstrated an initial burst folowed by sustained release. When cultured for 24 hours, the cumulative drug release about 52.3%. However, after cultured for 7 days, little drug release was detected. And there was about 8.0%-10.0% dexamethasone of initial loading preserved in nanotubes.

To study maternal and perinatal outcomes after cervical cerclage in both singleton and twin pregnancies,we retrospectively reviewed women undergoing cervical cerclage for cervical insufficiency at Tongji Hospital,Wuhan,China from January 1,2010 to July 31,2015 to evaluate primary and secondary outcomes for subgroups with cervical length (CL) ≤15,>15 to <25,and ≥25 mm.Of 166 patients who underwent cervical cerclage, after exclusion of patients with missed abortion and continuing pregnancy,141 patients (121 singleton and 20 twin pregnancies) were included in the analysis.Mean gestational age at birth was 34.22 and 28.27 weeks for singleton and twin pregnancies, respectively. There were 17 (14.05%) and 13 (33.33%) neonatal deaths in singleton and twin pregnancies, respectively.Mean age (31.60-±4.62 vs.31.22±4.63 years,P=0.39) and gestational weeks at cerclage (18.50-±4.62 vs.19.31±4.99,P=0.47) were similar for both groups.Mean gestational weeks at delivery (34.22±5.77 vs.28.27±6.17,P<0.001) and the suture to delivery interval (15.72±7.15 vs.8.96±6.70,P<0.001) were significantly longer in the singleton group. These variables indicate a linear negative correlation with the degree of CL shortening, with better outcomes in patients with CL ≥25 mm who underwent cerclage, both in singleton and twin pregnancies. No difference in mode of delivery existed between the singleton group and twin group. Our results indicate a high risk of preterm delivery in both groups, especially in the twin group.Patients with a history of preterm labor and CL >25 mm in the current pregnancy, possibly in a twin pregnancy, could benefit from elective cervical cerclage;however, cervical cerclage was inadvisable for twin pregnancies with a CL >15 and <25 mm.Our data emphasize the importance of re-evaluating the efficacy of cervical cerclage for twin pregnancies in well-designed clinical trials.

Objective To report the result of analysis of 72 cases of facial cutaneous sporotrichosis. Methods Seventy-two patients were included in this study. They were diagnosed as facial cutaneous sporotrichosis according to clinical mainfestations and fungal culture. Histopathological examinations were done in some atypical cases. The patients were treated with combined antifungal agents. Results The lesion forms were varied, in which lymphangitic cutaneous form accounted for 9.72% and fixed cutaneous form accounted for 90.28% respectively. Nineteen cases (26.4%) had a history of skin trauma before the cutaneous lesions. All of the patients were successfully treated with potassium iodide and/or itraconazole, terbinafine for 6-8 weeks. Conclusions The skin lesions and mycological examination are the important evidences for the diagnosis of sporotrichosis. The main form of the facial cutaneous sporotrichosis is the fixed cutaneous form. The misdiagnosis rate is 16% in primary level clinics. Potassium iodide is an effective and inexpensive medicine in the treatment of cutaneous sporotrichosis.

Objective:Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound (US) is increasingly being introduced in the clinic, both for diagnostics and image guidance.Although dedicated 3D US probes exist, because of its expensive cost,3D US can also be acquired with the still frequently used two-dimensional (2D) US probes. Methods:Obtaining 3D volumes with 2D US probes is a two-step process.First,a positioning sensor must be attached to the probe for 2D image matching;second,a reconstruction of a 3D volume can be performed into a regular voxel grid. Results:This paper presents a way to realize the 3D US in irled-based Image Guided Radiotherapy using a homemade 2D US.Conclusions:The experiments demonstrate a method of saving costs and having advantages in clinic application.
