Objective To investigate the distribution modes of NOS nerves and interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) in myenteric plexus of human fetal intestine. Methods Small intestine samples from 12 fetuses were collected for the preparation of whole mount preparations and cryo sections examined by immunocytochemistry for c kit receptor tyrosine kinase and histochemistry for NADPH diaphorase. Results ICCs associated with the myenteric plexus in the fetal small intestine were observed in the shape of spindle or ovoid with two to three slender processes forming an independent and complete cellular network. While NOS positive nerves, which constitute the main neuronal component of ganglia, connecting strands, and nerve fibers, were found within the circular muscle layer and myenteric plexus of the small intestine and the latter was especially rich of this kind of nerves. Most of these positive neurons were Dogiel I type neurons and they often gathered in cluster in the ganglia. Each ganglion contained several to dozens of NOS positive neurons. Although no colocalization of ICCs and NOS positive nerves was found by double staining of whole mount preparations and cryo sections, they were closely distributed. Conclusion Our results indicate that NO released by myenteric plexus, an inhibitory neurotransmitter, may possess the function of regulating ICCs and smooth muscle in late stage of the fetus.

Purpose To investigate the clinical and pathological features and differential diagnosis of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS).Methods The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed in 21 cases of ASPS. Histopathological and immunohistochemical changes of the tumors were also observed in the paraffin-embedded tissue samples. Results In 21 cases, 11 were male and 10 females. Ages of the patients ranged from 4 to 56 years old, with mean 25.9 years old.The lesions were mainly located in the deep soft tissues of legs.Microscopically, tumor cells with granular cytoplasm arranged in alveolar or solid structures, and were separated by sinusoidal vessels. There existed crystals in the cytoplasm of tumor cells after PAS staining.Immunohistochemically,10 cases were positive for MyoD1, 4 positive for desmin,9 positive for S-100,11 positive for NSE, and 11 positive for Vim. All of ASPS were negative for AE1/AE3,CK, EMA, SMA, MSA and Syn.Conclusions ASPS is a rare malignant neoplasm in adolescents and young adults. It is prone to early hematogenous metastases and a high recurrence rate after conservative surgical excision. Therefore, the prognosis of ASPS is poor. Careful analysis of the clinicopathological features and immunohistochemisitry will be helpful to reach an accurate diagnosis.

AIM: To investigate the pharmacological effects and mechanism of ethyl ferulate (EF). METHODS: The platelet congregate rate was observed by congregater TYXN-91 and the platelet intracellular calcium oscillation was observed by laser scanning. The acute liver injury model of mice was made by using the CCl 4 156 mg?kg -1, ip. Then the levels of ALT and AST were determined in serum and the levels of MDA and SOD in the liver. RESULTS: The inhibition rate of the platelet congregate were 26.3%? 3.3%, 33.4%? 2.4%, 73.4%? 3.1%, and 94.9%? 2.7% (n=8) in different concentration( 0.1, 0.5, 1.5, and 3.0 mmol?L -1)of ethyl ferulate, respectively. It was higher than those in the same concentrations of ferulic acid. The change of the fluctuation of calcium (?FI 4.6? 1.7) in EF group was much lower than the rest level ( 10.3? 2.6) (n=8,P

Objective To investigate the regulation effect of promoter methylation of deathassociated protein kinase (DAPK) on mRNA and protein expression of DAPK in tissue of primary gastric cancer (GC). Methods The cancerous and noncancerous samples from 62 patients with GC were determined by RT-PCR for mRNA expression of DAPK. The DAPK promoter methylation was detected by methylation-specific PCR. The protein expression of DAPK in 34 patients with methylation was determined by Western blot. Results mRNA and protein expre.ssions of DAPK in cancerous tissues were reduced significantly compared to noncancerous tissues (0. 2863d±0. 2027 vs 0. 57364±0. 1968,0. 2616±0. 0913 vs 0. 65294±0. 1808, P<0.01). Methylation frequency of DAPK in cancerous tissues was higher than that in noncancerous tissues (54.8% vs 17.7%, P<0.01). Furthermore, DAPK mRNA expression was decreased in methylation group compared to unmethylation group (0.1399±0. 0835 vs 0. 46404±0. 1569, P<0. 01). Moreover, a significant correlation was demonstrated between the TNM stage and DAPK promoter methylation (P = 0. 04). Conclusion Expression of DAPK is down-regulated in cancerous tissues at mRNA and protein levels. Low expression of DAPK is associated with hypermethylation of the promoter of DAPK gene.

Abstract
Long-term use of levodopa in the treatment of Parkinson's disease can cause motor complications, which seriously impair the patients'motor function, reduce the quality of life, and aggravate the functional disability. Since there has been no effective treatment for motor complications, clarifying the influencing factors and prevention methods are conducive to reducing the risk of incidence and improving the quality of life of the patients. This paper summarizes the types and mechanism of motor complications of Parkinson's disease, the influencing factors ( levodopa dose, onset age, Helicobacter pylori infection and high protein diet ) and preventive measures ( psychological intervention, low protein diet, rehabilitation exercise and drugs ), so as to provide reference for the prevention and control of the disease.
