Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics of Candida parapsilosis septicemia of prematurity and provide a reference for both diagnosis and treatment. Methods The clinical data of 9 premature suffering with candida parapsilosis septicemia were retrospectively analyzed. Results All 9 cases (0.73 percent in the corresponding period) were premature infants with gestational age less than 37 weeks. The average weight of the patients was (1 621.00 ±372.22) g,among which 5 cases were of very low birth weight and 4 cases were of low birth weight. The average time of the fungi infection was (22.00 ± 7.58) d.Of the 9 cases,7 cases had been treated with broad spectrum antibiotics previously,9 cases were given nutrition intravenously,7 cases were treated with mechanical ventilation,7 cases adopted peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC) and 1 case received surgery. The symptoms included poor response, unstable serum oxygen saturation, jaundice, poor perfusion, abdominal distention, fever and no bodyweight increase.Laboratory tests results presented platelet decrease(6 cases),C-reaction protein increase (6 cases),high plasma (1-3)-β-D glucan level(9 cases) and white blood cells in the normal range(6 cases). All 9 infants recovered after receiving fluconazole and supporting treatment. Two cases failed to complete the hospital treatment but after discharge from hospital continued treatment by administering prescribed medicine, and through regular follow-up was done, the prognosis of all cases turned out to be good, and no case died. Conclusions Gestational age, birth weight, application of broad spectrum antibiotics, mechanical ventilation and peripherally inserted central catheter are common high risk factors of Candida parapsilosis septicemia in premature infants. The disease was featured with normal white blood cell, low platelet, high serum levels of C-reaction protein and (1-3)-β-D glucan.Anti-fungi therapy with fluconazole may be a good choice for it.

Objective To understand the development situation of the purified protein derivative of tuberculin (PPD) test ,the prevalence of tuberculosis(TB) among the school students in Guangxi and the related influence factors of strong positive result in order to provide the basis for establishing the physical examination system of student TB in Guangxi .Methods The PPD test was conducted in the students participating in the survey firstly ,then the students with strong positive PPD test results and the TB sus-picious symptoms and the suspected TB cases were performed chest X-ray and sputum smear examination .The related factors in the students with strong positive PPD test results and non-strong positive PPD test results were comparatively analyzed .Results To-tally ,53 217 students received the PPD test with the positive rate of 5 .74% (3 055 cases) and the strong positive rate of 1 .46%(775 cases) .The detection rate of active TB was 0 .03% (15 cases) .The χ2 test and the Logistic regression analysis showed that the age group and the regional distribution were the influence factors of strong positive PPD test result (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The preliminary screening by the PPD test and then conducting chest X-ray and sputum smear examination are the effective method for find TB in school and the TB clinic .At the same time the TB screening should be strengthened in the schools in high epidemic areas of TB ,especially the college students .

Objective To research the method and effect about the bronchoscopic lung volume reduction by ?-cyanoac- rylate in the therapy of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods The 14 patients had been examined bosoms by CT before the operation and determined the type of emphysema and the distributing of pneumatocele, had blood gas analyzed and pulmonary function checked. The operation was carried through trachea cannula and intravenous anesthe- sia. When the bronchoscope came to the goal bronchia,we infused the meglumine diatrizoate through the biopsy orifice and approved the location of pneumatocele forward。Then,we infused erythromycin and ?-cyanoacrylate in turn through the biopsy orifice by silica del tube. Results The 3 pneumothorax patients had been removed the drainage tube in 3 days af- ter the operation.8 cases had been counterchecked sternite in one week and the pneumatocele was just like before, among which,1 case developed exudation.1 case had shown pleural thickening in the right-up lung counterchecked sternite 9 months later.1 case been checked the pulmonary function, the FEV_1 enhanced from 24.7% pred before operation to 32. 9% pred after operation one week.3 cases felt polypnea improved greatly and 7 cases felt polypnea improved a little.Con- clusion The bronchoscopic lung volume reduction by ?-cyanoacrylate is a safe, effective and economical method in the therapy of COPD.

Star-shaped block polymers have recently attracted considerable attention owing to their unique properties and applicability in nanomedicine development.Compare to linear polymer and hyper-branched polymers,star-shaped block polymers have more advantages due to the unique structure.Star-shaped block polymer has become a desirable molecular biomaterial for delivery therapeutics and diagnostic agent to the diseased cells. This paper reviews the research about star-shaped block polymers and nanomedicine development in using them as drug and gene delivery carriers.

OBJECTIVETo investigate different treatment methods for stage-Is testicular mixed germ cell tumors (TMGCTs).
METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the clinical data about 3'cases of stage-Is TMGCTs (aged 26-39 years) treated in the 175th Hospital of PLA, reviewed relevant literature, and explored the clinical characteristics of TMGCTs.
RESULTSOf the 3 patients, 1 was treated by radical orchiectomy, 1 by radical orchiectomy + retroperitoneal lymph node dissection + BEP chemotherapy scheme, and the other by radical orchiectomy + radiotherapy. The pathological components of TMGCTs were immature teratoma, seminoma, spermatocytoma, chorioepithelioma, embryonal carcinoma, and yolk sac tumor. No recurrence or distant metastasis was found during the 24-month follow-up after surgery.
CONCLUSIONThe diagnosis of TMGCTs primarily depends on physical examination, ultrasonography, MRI, and measurement of serum tumor markers, while its confirmation necessitates pathological examination, and its treatment is basically radical orchiectomy.

Objective To explore the effects of extract of Gingko biloba leaves (EGb) on learning, memory and hippoeampal heine oxygenase-1 (HO-1) expression in diabetic rats. Methods The behaviors of streptozotoein-induced diabetic rats were observed by Morris water maze for learning and memory after 6 months of diabetes. The HO-1 mRNA expression and protein expression in hippocampus of diabetic rats were detected by RT- PCR and immunohistochemistry respectively. Results The escape latency time in Morris water maze of diabetic rats was prolonged markedly.HO-1 mRNA and HO-1 protein expressions in hippocampus of diabetic rats were increased (1.635?0.326 vs 0.978?0.214,7.2?1.7 vs 1.9?0.5,respectively,both P<0.01).The escape latency times in EGb (100,50 mg/kg) treated groups were shortened.HO-1 mRNA and HO-1 protein expressions in hippocampus were decreased at the same time as compared with diabetic group (100 mg/kg:0.954?0.144,2.0?0.8;50 mg/kg:0.988?0.154,2.5?0.6,all P<0.01).Conclusion EGb can significantly inhibit HO-1 expression in hippocampus and improve learning and memory dysfunction in diabetic rats.
