Objective To evaluate the efficacy of the continuation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following transportation to the emergency department in a Chinese hospital after unsuccessful emergency medical services (EMS) CPR. Methods From January 2002 to December 2007, emergency records of non-traumatic patients who were transported to a tertiary teaching hospital after unsuccessful EMS CPR were reviewed. Results Eigty-five patients were included, and 13 patients (15%) accomplished restoration of spontaneous circulation in our emergency department. Resuscitative possibility reached zero at around 23 minutes. One patient was discharged with a favourable neurologic outcome. Conclusions This study shows that the continuation of CPR is not futile and may improve outcomes. The outcomes should be re-evaluatad in the future when prehospital information can be combined with in-hospital information.

Objective To study the consistency and complementarity of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS),white light endoscopy (WLE) and magnifying endoscopy (ME) in diagnosis of ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods We collected 125 cases of UC patients diagnosed by WLE and EUS (including 51 cases of WLE + ME + EUS).According to UC mucosal morphology under WLE and crypt openings under ME,we divided all the cases into several groups and analyzed intestinal wall thickness (TWT) under EUS in each group.Results According to the results of UC inflammation degree under WLE,all patients were divided into four groups: 16 severe cases,46 moderate cases,44 mild,and 19 remission stage.TWT results were (5.903 ± 1.551 ) mm,(4.673 ± 1.235 ) mm,(3.756 ± 1.322 )mm and ( 3.464 ± 0.970) mm,respectively.Differences were significant between any two groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ),except for that between mild and remission groups.According to the results of UC inflammation degree under ME,all patients were divided into six groups: 9 cases of villous-like structure,9 cases of typical coral reef-like structure,8 severe coral reef-like structure,13 regular crypt opening,6 epithelial minimal defect and 6 small yellow spot (SYS).TWT results were (5.701 ±0.941 )mm,(5.518 ±0.581 )mm,(5.181 ±0.751 )mm,(3.763 ±0.659) mm,(3.587 ±0.461 )mm and (2.505 ± 0.330 )mm,respectively.Differences were significant between any two groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ) except for those between epithelial minimal defect and regular crypt opening,typical coral reeflike structure,villous-like and severe coral reef-like structure.EUS results showed SYS (6/6) and regular crypt opening ( 10/13 ) were mostly located in mucosa,while lesions of severe coral reef-like structure (8/8) invaded the muscularis propria.Conclusion EUS shows high consistency with WLE and ME in diagnosis of UC inflammation degree and invasive depth.It could assist and even substitute ME for evaluation.

Two-dimensional electrophoresis(2-DE) is an important technique in proteomics research.The 2-DE system for proteome of Monascus ruber was established by comparing and analyzing the infection caused by different kinds of mediums,lysis buffer and the condition of rehydration.By cultivating the Monascus ruber with YES for 6 days,extracting total protein by TCA-acetone,lysis buffer with 8 mol/L urea,2 mol/L thiourea,4 % CHAPS,1 % DTT and 2 % Bio-lyte,an ideal 2-DE map with higher resolution and better legibility was obtained,which laid a foundation for the further studies on proteome of Monascus ruber.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is the gem of Chinese culture,while TCM culture the root and driving force for its development.Higher learning institutes,one of whose main missions is innovating and inheriting culture,are playing the unique roles in promoting world-wide recognition of TCM culture through international cooperation due to the abundant resources in TCM academy,talent,clinical study and international education.Taking Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine as an example,this paper has made constructive exploration and study on how to promote the international communication of TCM culture to allow the international community for better understanding and the application of TCM based on the analysis of current situation and experience summarization with literature investigation and case study.Effective measures that have been put forward include establishing TCM experiencing center,promoting the construction of Confucius Institute,proactively building TCM library,improving the standardization of TCM translation,optimizing approaches of TCM international communication,and speeding up the cultivation of TCM international communication talents.

Objective To compare the efficacy of alfentanil and remifentanil in minimizing the propofol injection pain. Methods A total of 175 adult female patients undergoing gynecological procedures with general anesthesia were randomly divided into four groups.Patients received alfentanil 1mg(2 mL,AL group,n=43),remifentanil 0.01 mg(2 mL,REM1 group,n=43),remifentanil 0.02 mg(2 mL,REM2 group,n=45) or normal saline(2 mL,control group,n=44) 30 seconds prior to propofol administration.Visual analogue scale(VAS) was employed to evaluate the subjective feelings of pain due to propofol injection,and adverse effects were recorded. Objective To explore optimal initial the best screening time for newborns with different delivery methods using AABR.Methods A total of 550 newborns who were born from August 1, 2016 to October 31, 2016 at our hospital participated in the study.AABR was used to accomplish the initial hearing screening.The newborns were divided into 2 groups according to the delivery methods.There were each 100 neonates born in vaginal during <24 h, 24~48 h and 48~72 h after birth, respectively.The numbers of neonates delivered by cesarean section during the 3 separate periods were 50, 100 and 100, respectively.The newborns who failed the preliminary hearing screening proceeded to the re-screening and diagnostic procedures.Results There were 300 newborns were born in vaginal, and the pass rate in 24~48 h after birth group was significantly higher than that in 24 h group (93.00% vs 83.00%,x2=4.735,P=0.03<0.05), but it was not significantly different from that of 48~72 h group (95.00% vs 93.00%,x2=0.355,P=0.56>0.05).There were 250 newborns in cesarean section, the pass rate of 24~48 h after birth group was significantly higher than that in 24 h group (83.00% vs 68.00%,x2=4.437, P=0.04<0.05), and significantly lower than that of 48~72 h group (94.00% vs 83.00%,x2=5.944, P=0.02<0.05).Conclusion Taking into account of hospitalization time, the screening time for the vaginal delivery newborn hearing screening can be advanced to 24~48 h after birth with the application of AABR, but not for the cesarean section group.

Apoptosis and autophagy are common life phenomenon in various cells, which widely involve in physiological and path-ological processes, and interact with one another by many factors and multiple pathways. This intricate relationship runs through a vari-ety of cardiovascular diseases, and plays an important role in the occurrence, development and prognosis of many cardiovascular disea-ses. The effects of apoptosis and autophagy and their interrelationship in cardiovascular diseases were reviewed and summarized in this paper.

_ Objective_ To observe the effect of vaspin on the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in rats and its potential mechanism. Methods Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells( BMSCs) from 4 weeks aged rats were isolated and cultured. The BMSCs were treated with osteogenic induction medium and different concentrations of vaspin and Wnt signaling pathway inhibitor DKK1. The proliferation was detected by CCK8 method at 24, 48, 72 h. After 7 days, the mRNA expressions of ALP, Runx2,β-catenin were detected by realtime qPCR. The expression levels of Runx2 and β-catenin protein were detected by Western blot. After 21 days, alizarin red stained mineralized nodules and quantitative detection were performed. Results Vaspin had no effect on the proliferation but promoted the expression of osteogenic differentiation gene ALP, Runx2, and also increasedβ-catenin mRNA and expression of Runx2 and β-catenin protein. Mineralized nodules were brown and increased, OD value of vaspin group was higher than control group. After adding the DKK1, the expression of ALP, Runx2,β-catenin mRNA and Runx2, β-catenin protein were significantly decreased(all P<0. 05). Conclusion Vaspin can promote BMSCs into osteogenic differention through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
