Objective To analyze the morphological matching rate with a digital image recognition system in pre-and post-orthodontic treatments,and to provide forensic dentistry evidence for individual identification.Methods High-resolution digital images of the palatal rugae were taken under particular conditions from each patient in pre-and post-orthodontic treatments.Features of each digital image were extracted using a digital image recognition system and collected in the palatal rugae database.Data of the palatal rugae werematched by MATLAB software system.Results From the matching results,the accuracy rate of individual identification of orthodontic patients was 100％.The accuracy rate in matching palatal rugae patterns in pre-and post-orthodontic treatments was 95.67％.The results were statistically significant with P＜0.05.Conclusion Palatal rugae pattern is highly individual-specific.The morphologyofpalatal rugaecould bechangedby theorthodontic treatment,however,these changes may not greatly influence individual identification in forensic dentistry,providing a new potential to individual identification.

Objective To evaluate the changes in the expression of aquaporin 1 (AQP1) and aquaporin4 (AQP4) in lung tissues during one-lung ventilation in patients undergoing pulmonary lobectomy.Methods Forty ASA physical status Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients,aged 30-64 yr,weighing 45-79kg,undergoing pulmonary lobectomy,were randomly divided into 2 groups(n=20 each):two-lung ventilation group (group T) and one-lung ventilation group (group O).Anesthesia was induced with iv injection of midazolam,fentanyl,vecuronium and propofol.In group T,the patients were intubated with a single-lumen endotracheal tube and two-lung ventilation was performed.In group O,double-lumen endobranchial tube was inserted,and two-lung ventilation was performed followed by onelung ventilation after chest opening.PET CO2 was maintained at 5.3-24.0 kPa and SpO2 was maintained ＞ 92％.Anesthesia was maintained with iv infusion of remifentanil,propofol and vecuronium.The normal lung tissues were obtained from the site near the pathologic changes for microscopic examination (with light microscope) and examination of the ultrastructure (with transmission electron microscope),and for determination of W/D lung weight ratio,the expression of AQP1 mRNA and AQP4 mRNA (by RT-PCR) and the expression of AQP1 protein and AQP4 protein (by Western blot).Results Compared with group T,W/D lung weight ratio was significantly increased,the expression of AQP1 mRNA and protein was down-regulated in group O (P ＜ 0.05),and no significant changes were found in the expression of AQP4 mRNA and protein in group O (P ＞ 0.05).Pathological changes were observed in group O.Conclusion Down-regulation of AQP1 expression may be involved in the acute lung injury induced by one-lung ventilation in patients undergoing pulmonary lobectomy,however,AQP4 has no such effect.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of lentiviral vector mediated herpes simplex virus-thymidine kinase/ganciclovir (HSV-TK/GCV) on graft- versus-host disease (GVHD) after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (allo- BMT) in mice.

METHODSDonor splenic lymphocytes from C57BL/6 which were infected by lentiviral vectors carrying HSV-TK were transplanted into 60Co gamma ray irradiated recipient mice with donor bone marrow cells. GCV 25 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1) was administered in 3 groups on day 0, +7, +12 respectively after transplant for 7 days by intraperitoneal injection. Survival time, severity of GVHD, incidence of GVHD, T lymphocytes immune reconstruction and of allogeneic chimerism ratio were detected after allo-BMT.

RESULTSThe average survival times for GCV 0 day, +7 day and +12 day group were (30. 10 +/- 5.21) d, (36.40 +/- 5.28) d and (28.20 +/- 4.82) d respectively, being significantly longer than that in the control group [(15.10 +/- 0.43) d] (P < 0.05). The 50 d-survival rate for TK/GCV + 7 day group was 60%. While for 0 day and +12 day group was 40% and 30% respectively. The incidence of grade III approximately IV GVHD in the control group was 100%, and the dead mice in experimental groups showed pathological changes of II approximately III GVHD. Long-term alive recipient mice only developed grade I approximately II GVHD after allo-BMT. The number of CD4+ lymphocytes in experimental groups was higher than that in control group (P <0.05), but CD8+ lymphocytes was lower on day +5, +10, +15 day (P <0.05). Allogeneic chimerism rate of recipient mice on +30 d was 100%.

CONCLUSIONSHSV-TK/GCV induced by the lentiviral vectors has a definite effect in prevention of GVHD after allo-BMT. GCV administrated from 7 days post-transplantation showed the best effects.

The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular diseases are very high, which has attracted more and more attention all over the world. Common treatment methods for clinical treatment of acute myocardial infarction include direct percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass grafting, which can quickly restore blocked coronary blood flow and reduce the infarct size. However, the inevitable ischemia/reperfusion injury will occur during the recovery of coronary blood flow, its pathological mechanism is complicated, and the Western medicine countermeasures are very limited. Among the current drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, traditional Chinese medicine has become a research hotspot due to its multiple targets, safety, and low side effects. Ginger is the fresh rhizome of Zingiber offici?nale Rosc., a perennial herbaceous plant in the ginger family. It is a dual-purpose resource of medicine and food. Ginger has the functions of relieving the appearance and dispelling cold, warming up and relieving vomiting, resolving phlegm and relieving cough, and relieving fish and crab poison. The chemical components of ginger mainly include volatile oil, gingerol, diphenylheptane, etc.. Among them, 6-gingerol, as the main active component of gingerols, has obvious phar?macological effects in myocardial protection, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, etc.. Studies have shown that 6-gingerol protects myocardium mainly through anti-oxidative stress, anti-inflammatory, inhibiting cell apoptosis, and preventing cal?cium influx. ① Anti-oxidative stress: oxidative stress is a state where oxidation and anti-oxidation in the body are out of balance, and it is also an important factor leading to myocardial damage. Many studies have confirmed that 6-gingerol has an antioxidant effect, and it is considered a natural antioxidant. 6-gingerol can significantly reduce the degree of oxi?dative stress and the level of reactive oxygen species caused by cardiomyocyte damage, and has a significant cardiopro?tective effect. ② Anti-inflammatory: inflammation can cause substantial cell damage and organ dysfunction, which is another important cause of myocardial damage. 6-gingerol can reduce the levels of inflammatory factors such as inter?leukin-6, interleukin-1β, and tumor necrosis factor-αin cardiomyocytes, and at the same time inhibit the TLR4/NF-κB sig?naling pathway, an important regulatory pathway of inflammation, showing that it may improve myocardial damage through anti-inflammatory effects. ③ Inhibition of apoptosis: apoptosis is a complex and orderly process in the autono?mous biochemical process of cells, and one of the main mechanisms of myocardial injury. This process can be roughly divided into three pathways: mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and death receptors. Among them, the mitochondrial pathway plays an important role, and Bcl-2 and Bax located upstream of this pathway can regulate the entire process of cell apoptosis by regulating the permeability of the mitochondrial membrane. Studies have found that the preventive application of 6-gingerol can reduce cell damage, reduce the number of apoptotic cells, reduce the activity of Bax and caspase-3, and increase the expression of Bcl-2. Therefore, 6-gingerol pretreatment can reduce the damage of cardio?myocytes, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of apoptosis.④Prevent calcium influx:calcium overload is involved in the pathogenesis of myocardial ischemic injury, which may be related to excessive contracture, arrhythmia, and mitochondrial Ca2+accumulation that impairs myocardial function. 6-gingerol inhibits the increase of intracellular Ca2+concentration by inhibiting L-type calcium current, thereby reducing extracellular Ca2+ influx, thereby avoiding calcium overload and playing a cardioprotective effect. In summary, 6-gingerol can effectively treat and improve myocardial isch?emia/reperfusion injury, and it has great development potential in the fields of medicine and health products.

Betel nut is the dry and mature seed of Areca catechu L., which is originated in Malaysia and cultivated in Yunnan, Hainan and Taiwan and other tropical areas of China. It is also known as big belly, binmen, olive seed, green seed and so on. Betel nut is a dual-use resource for medicine and food, which was first contained in LI Dang's Pharma?ceutical Record. Betel nut tastes bitter, pungent, warm in nature, and belongs to the stomach and large intestine meridian. It contains a variety of chemical components such as alkaloids, phenolic compounds, polysaccharides, fatty acids, amino acids, flavonoids, minerals, terpenoids, and steroids. It has the advantages of promoting digestion, lowering blood pres?sure, anti-depression, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-parasites, antibacterial and other activities. The content of total phenols in fresh fruits of areca nut was 31.1％, mainly including catechin, isorhamnetin, chrysopanthoxanthin, luteolin, tannin and other polyphenols. The commonly used methods for determination of polyphenols in areca are vanil?lin titration potassium permanganate titration and potassium ferricyanide spectrophotometry. The main activities and mechanisms of areca polyphenols include: ① Antidepressant effect: polyphenols bind to monoamine oxidase type A (MAO-A) receptors that inhibit the production of neurotransmitters, thereby increasing the content of amine transmitters in the brain and playing a therapeutic effect on depression. ② Antioxidant effect: polyphenols contain multiple adjacent hydroxyl groups, which are easily oxidized and can effectively remove superoxide anion free radical, hydroxyl free radi?cal, 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical, showing good antioxidant activity.③Bacteriostatic effect:polyphenols can spe?cifically bind to the surface of bacteria, thus achieving bacteriostatic effect. Studies have found that betel nut polyphenols have varying degrees of inhibitory effects on a variety of bacteria. ④ Inducing apoptosis of lymphocytes: polyphenols deplete the mercaptan in lymphocytes and make them unable to survive, thus inducing apoptosis of lymphocytes.⑤Anti-aging effect: polyphenols have the effect of anti-hyaluronidase and anti-elastase, so as to protect elastin fiber and pro?mote collagen synthesis.⑥Anti-allergic effect:studies have found that polyphenols can reduce ovalbumin induced aller?gic reactions.⑦Other functions:betel nut can freshen breath, eliminate bad breath, and resist the activity of cobra venom. At present, domestic and foreign scholars' research on betel nut mainly focuses on arecoline and its carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, effects on reproductive function, addiction and toxicity to the nervous system, and there are few studies on the positive effects of betel nut, especially on it. There is less research on phenolic ingredients. Therefore, this article reviews the polyphenolic chemical constituents of betel nut, and fully excavates its pharmacological activity to provide a reasonable basis for the scientific use of betel nut.

OBJECTIVETo observe the clinical significance of postoperative personalized antithrombotic therapy for patients with hemophilic arthritis (HA) patients after arthroplasty.

METHODSFrom September 2005 to October 2013, 11 cases of arthroplasty for hemophilic arthritis in hip and knee total operation 14 times,including 1 case of double knees (calculated as one operation), operation in left knees 6 times, operation in right knees 5 times, 2 in hip. All the patients were male and the age ranged from 23 to 57 years old,with an average of (36.1 ± 11.0) years old; the average weight was (64.1 ± 8.9) kg. All the patients were preoperatively diagnosed and classified as hemophilic arthritis with the radiological images and laboratory tests. According to the function of joints, the risk of postoperative venous thromboembolism (VTE), and dynamic observation of Factor VIII:C (FVIII:C) activity, patients were treated with personalized antithrombus by adjusting the dosage of recombinant human coagulation factor VIII (Kogenate FS). All the patients were orderly divided into postoperatively distal joints moving group and none-moving group to observe the coagulation function.

RESULTSThe enrolled patients had no postoperative complication of VTE and pulmonary embolism (PE). The APTT and D-2 were different between two groups in the postoperative early stage. Length of hospital day was shorter in the moving group than none-moving group.

CONCLUSIONBecause of the self-coagulation disorder, patients with HA tended to bleed. However it doesn't mean that there is no risk of postoperative thrombosis. Therefore,it's important to determine how to control the balance between postoperative antithrombus, hemostasis,and coagulation factor replacement therapy after arthroplasty for HA. Postoperative moving has proved helpful for HA, especially in reducing the risk of hemostasis and shortening the time in hospital.

Objective To evaluate the palatal rugae individual-specific properties and stability before and after orthodontic treatments for investigating the reliability of palatal rugae for individual identification of forensic dentistry based on the palatal rugae model ananlysis. Methods Maxillary models of 70 patients were obtained before and after orthodontic treatments respectively. Palatal rugae morphologic changes and individual identification were examined by model analysis including changes in number, orientation, shape, and length of palatal rugae, as well as mesial and distal endpoint displacement in the anterioposterior(AP) and mesiodistal (MD) direction. Furthermore, The examination of palatal rugae average match accuracy(%) was performed between the pre-treatment and post-treatment orthodontics models and post-treatment and duplicated post-treatment orthodontics models. Results ① The palatal rugae morphological changes were found and the incidence of palatal rugae changes were showed in length(28.6%), segmenta-tion(4.3%); unification(2.9%); orientation(1.4%) and shape(1.4%) after orthodontic treatment. Also the displacement of the distal endpoint of palatal rugae was 45.7% for anterioposterior indirection, 40% for mesiodistal indirection after orthodontic treatment, while the anterioposterior displacement of the mesial endpoint of palatal rugae was 32.9% and mesiodistal displacement was 17.1%. ② The identical palatal rugae patterns were not found both the pre-treatment and post-treatment groups. ③ The palatal rugae average match accuracy was 92.19% between pre-treatment and post-treatment groups, however, the rate had increased by 99.05% when matching the palatal rugae patterns of post-treatment groups to their duplicates. Conclusion Palatal rugae patterns have the high specific properties to each indivi-dual. Although there are some changes in morphology of palatal rugae after orthodontic treatment, it still can be used as a novel method for individual identification in forensic dentistry.

Visual endotracheal intubation technique was applied in the endotracheal intubation teaching for standardized resident training as a routine teaching appliance.The residents were divided into two groups,the anesthetic speciality group and the non-anesthetic speciality group.According to the different teaching targets,teaching periods and basic abilities,the differentiated teaching Settings were built and the different teaching schemes,evaluation index and teachers were applied for the two groups respectively for fulfilling the advantages of visual laryngoscope.Until now,more than a hundred residents were educated with the endotracheal intubation,and the teaching efficiency and quality were significantly improved,which also reduced the incidence of the complications related to endotracheal intubation.

The quality control of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)is the core issue to ensure the modernization,industrialization and internationalization of TCM.Compared with other detection methods,electrochemical analysis method has many advantages such as high sensitivity,fast detection speed and low cost,making it an important means of quality control for TCM and having broad development prospects.This article reviewed the research progress of electrochemical methods in quality control of TCM in recent years,discussed the application of electrochemical fingerprinting technique in identification of TCM,and comprehensively summarized the application of electrochemical technology in analyzing effective components and harmful substances in TCM,including flavonoids,alkaloids,quinones,glycosides,heavy metals and pesticide residues.Finally,the development prospects of electrochemical methods in the field of quality control of TCM were discussed.
