1.The Efficiency of Water Treatment Procedures on Removal of Cyanobacterial Toxins in Drinking Water

To provide the human being with safe drinking water is one of the most important issues in public health. In response to the more and more serious pollution of algal toxins, growing concern has been attached to the water bodies contaminated with algal toxins and the effects posed on human health. Drinking water suppliers are confronted with the important problem of how to remove the toxins to the acceptable levels. Conventional water treatment procedures are not efficient in removing toxins. Activated carbon adsorption, membrane filtration, photocatalic process, ozonation and chlorination are effective in removing cyanobacterial toxins, but each has its limitation.
2.Effects of Achilles Tendon Lengthening on Talipes Equinus in Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy

Objective To evaluate the effects of Achilles tendon lengthening on talipes equinus in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods From December, 2013 to June, 2014, seventeen spastic cerebral palsy children with talipes equinus (34 feet) received Achilles ten-don lengthening. Ankle dorsiflexion range of motion (ROM) and surface electromyography from tibialis anterior and medial head of gastroc-nemius were measured before and 8 to 12 months after operation, respectively. ROM of passive and active dorsiflexion, root mean square (RMS) of tibia muscle group and co-contraction ratio (CR) when standing were compared. Results The ROM of ankle passive and active dorsiflexion increased (Z>4.867, P<0.001), while the RMS of gastrocnemius muscle decreased when ankle passively dorsiflex (t=4.31, P<0.001). RMS of tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius muscle changed little when standing (Z<1.291, P>0.05), while CR reduced (t=2.38, P<0.05). Conclusion Achilles tendon lengthening can improve the coordination of tibia muscle group to increase the ROM of ankle for chil-dren with talipes equinus after spastic cerebral palsy.
3.Application of gene chip joint pyrosequencing technology in the newborn genetic deafness gene mutation screening

OBJECTIVE To study the gene chip joint pyrosequencing technology in the newborn genetic deafness gene mutation screening, and provide a theoretical basis for the early diagnosis and prevention of genetic deafness. METHODS 2000 Neonatal EDTA umbilical cord blood was collected and genomic DNA (gDNA) was extracted. Microarray chip was used to detect four deafness gene at 9 mutation sites. And the positive result of gene chip detection was verified by pyrosequencing.RESULTS Among the GJB2 mutations, there were 1 case of 35delG mutation type, 3 cases of 176 del16 mutation type, 57 cases of 235del C mutation type, 9 cases of 299 del AT mutation type, 6 cases of GJB3 gene 538C>T mutation type. There were 5 cases of 1555A>G mutations and 1 case of 1494C>T mutations in mitochondrial 12S rRNA. There were 6 cases of 2168A>G mutation type and 23 cases of IVS7-2A>G mutations in SLC26A4. 103 cases of newborns carry the mutated gene in 2,000, the gene mutation rate is 5.15%. CONCLUSION All the four genes mutation at nine mutation sites are found in newborns with family history of non-hereditary deafness, and GJB2 gene mutation is common. The screening of genetic deafness in newborns is very important for early diagnosis and prevention of hereditary hearing loss. In particular, the diagnosis of mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene mutation can prevent the occurrence of deafness caused by drug use, for the genetic mutation of these carriers' health is of great significance.
4.Surface Electromyography of Calf Muscle in Children with Growing Pains

Objective To compare the differences of electrical activity in calf muscle of children with growing pains from normal children when standing and heel raising. Methods 32 children with growing pains and foot pronation were as growing pains group, and 32 normal children as control group. All the children were measure with surface electromyography (sEMG) of tibialis anterior, peroneus longus, medial gastrocnemius and tibialis posterior when standing and heel raising. Results The root mean square (RMS) of peroneus longus increased significantly in growing pains group when standing (P<0.01). The RMS decreased significantly in medial gastrocnemius (P<0.05) and increased significantly in tibialis posterior (P<0.01) when heel raising. Conclusion The characteristics of electrical activity in calf muscle is difference from the normal in the growing pains children with foot pronation during standing and heel raising.
5.Application of PCMC combined with PBL teaching mode in clinical practice teaching of gynecological oncology

Objective:To explore the application effect of problem-originated clinical medical curriculum (PCMC) combined with problem-based learning (PBL) teaching in clinical practice teaching of gynecological oncology.Methods:Fifty undergraduate medical students in the Department of Gynecology of Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Harbin Medical University were randomly divided into 2 groups (experimental group and control group), with 25 students in each group. The experimental group adopted PCMC combined with PBL teaching, and the control group adopted traditional teaching. Taking the students' scores of the subject examination, teaching satisfaction, and teaching effect scores as evaluation indicators. SPSS 22.0 was used for t test and chi-square test. Results:The theoretical scores of the experimental group and the control group were (97.840±1.930) points and (93.920±2.798) points, respectively. The experimental group was higher than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.001). The practical operation scores of the out-department examination were (96.840±1.930) points and (91.920±2.798) points, and the experimental group was higher than the control group, with significant differences ( P<0.001). The teaching satisfaction of the experimental group and the control group were 100% (25/25) and 76% (19/25) respectively, with statistical significance ( P<0.05). The teaching effect score of the experimental group (in improving learning interest, clinical operation ability, theoretical knowledge mastery, theory and practice combination ability, etc.) was significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0.05). Conclusion:In the clinical teaching of gynecological oncology, PCMC combined with PBL teaching has a significant effect, which can promote the all-around development of medical students.
6.Application of the teaching mode integrated with humanistic spirit in the clinical practice teaching of gynecology

Objective:To explore the application effect of medical humanity quality education teaching mode integrated with humanistic spirit in clinical teaching of gynecology.Methods:Taking 60 undergraduate interns in gynecology department of Harbin Medical University Cancer Hospital as the experimental research objects, they were divided into experimental group and control group, with 30 students in each group. In clinical practice teaching, the experimental group adopted a teaching mode of integrating humanistic spirit, and the control group adopted a traditional teaching mode. The assessment results, teaching satisfaction and teaching effects were compared among the two groups of students. SPSS 22.0 was used for statistical analysis.Results:The students in the experimental group had higher scores of gynecological theory examination [(98.90±0.85) points] and the practical examination [(98.80±0.81) points] than the students in the control group had [(93.43±2.22) points and (92.77±2.37) points] ( P < 0.01). The teaching satisfaction of students in the experimental group was 100.00% when they leaving the department, and the satisfaction of teaching in the control group was 83.3%. The satisfaction of teaching in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. After the internship, the experimental group was significantly superior than the control group in learning interest, problem-solving ability, self-learning ability, doctor-patient communication ability, and knowledge expansion ability ( P < 0.05). Conclusion:In the clinical teaching of gynecology, the implementation of personalized teaching and humanistic quality education mode has significantly improved the students' theoretical performance, practical performance and teaching satisfaction. The medical humanistic quality education model integrated with humanistic spirit plays an important role in clinical practice teaching.
7. Biological exposure limit of 1,3-butadiene occupational exposure

OBJECTIVE: To study the biological exposure limit of 1,3-butadiene occupational exposure. METHODS: A total of 139 workers who exposed to 1,3-butadiene in a rubber plant was chosen as exposure group,and 45 workers without 1,3-butadiene exposure were chosen as control group by judgment sampling method. Gas chromatography-flame ionization detection method was used to detect the level of 1,3-butadiene in workplace air,and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometric was used to determine the level of urinary dihydroxybutyl mercapturic acid( DHBMA) in end-of-shift workers. The correlation between 1,3-butadiene level and urinary DHBMA level was analyzed.The biological limit of 1,3-butadiene occupational exposure was assessed. RESULTS: The range of concentration-time weighted average( C_(TWA)) of 1,3-butadiene was from 0. 004 to 7. 609 mg/m~3,the medium was 0. 253 mg/m~3 in the exposure group,while the level of urinary DHBMA was from 0. 171 to 4. 235 mg/g Cr,and the medium was 1. 220 mg/g Cr. The range of C_(TWA)of 1,3-butadiene was below detection limit in the control group. The level of urinary DHBMA was from 0. 157 to 1. 808 mg/g Cr,and the medium was 0. 627 mg/g Cr in the control group. The level of urinary DHBMA in the exposure group was higher than that of the control group( P < 0. 01). The level of urinary DHBMA( y) of workers was related to the level of 1,3-butadiene( x) of the workplace air in the exposure group( y = 0. 349 x + 1. 082,P < 0. 01).CONCLUSION: DHBMA in urine could be used as a biomarker for 1,3-butadiene exposure in workers. The recommended biological exposure limit of DHBMA is 2. 900 mg/g Cr.
