Objective To analyze the status and the distribution of causes of injuries as well as disease burden in children under 5 years old in Sichuan Province. Methods The death information cards of children who died because of injuries in Sichuan Province in 2012 were analyzed, and the years of potential life lost and working years of potential life lost were calculated to evaluate the disease burden. Results 22.87% (1 502/6 567) of children lost their lives because of injuries, the mortality of injury was 4.13‰,63.45% of children died at the age between l and 4,and most of the children died at home or on the road; The top 3 causes of children death of injuries below 5 years old were drowning, accidental suffocation and traffic accidents. The years of potential life lost and working years of potential life lost were 73.05 years and 58.30 years. Conclusion Injury is one of the most mainly risk factor of health and life of children, the government should further prevent and control children injuries.

Objective To investigate physical activities of preschool children by gender and to explore the effects of activity type on bone indexes. Methods During 2009 and 2010,397 preschool children of 3-5 years old were randomly selected from 4 kindergartens in Chengdu Province of China.Ultrasound bone analyzer was used to assess children's bone mass.A physical activity questionnaire was completed by parents to evaluate physical activities at leisure time.Student's t test and least square regression were used for data analysis. Results Concerning activity types, boys spent more leisure time on running and Wushu than girls did (t values were 1.94 and 2.84,respectively ; both P < 0.05).However,girls spent more time on dancing (0.78 h),jumping rope (0.08 h) and manual labour (0.22 h) each day (t values were-9.50,-3.43 and-1.92,respectively; all P < 0.05).The weekly total exercise time and energy consumption per unit of body weight of girls vs.boys were 7.29 vs.6.51 h and 127.57 vs.113.85 kJ (t values were 2.63 and 2.04,respectively ; both P < 0.05).About per day time on sleeping and per week time on watching television, there were no significant difference between boys and girls (t =0.180,0.520;P >0.05).But boys spent more time on electronic game and computer than girls (t =0.760,2.510;P < 0.05).The normalized correlation coefficient for bone mass and moderate physical activities or jumping was 0.184 and 0.275,respectively (both P < 0.05).Conclusions Our data suggest that preschool children's bone volume may be positively correlated with moderate physical activities and jumping activities.Introducing some moderate physical activities or activity appliance, toys and playing fields as well as increasing professional training might be helpful.

Objective To compare the skills level before and after pediatric advanced life support course and analyze the effect of the training. Methods The pediatric advanced life support was used as the textbook. The skills were got through attending theory classes, watching demonstrations and taking part in the simulator training. The questionnaires were filled strictly and the data was analysed. Results The test scores were increased after the training (P<0. 01). There were only 8.7% of the trainees had used the rescue equipments and 61.3% had never seen the rescue equipments before training. More than 80% of the trainees were satisfied with the training about the utility and novelty. Conclusion pediatric advanced life support course can successfully deliver a large number of healthcare providers with international unique pediatric emergency treatment skills ,and raise the participants abilities of rescuing critical children.

Objective To analyze the maternal mortality in Sichuan province from 2015 to 2016 for the purpose of providing reference for the department of health and family planning, medical and health care institutions to take measures to reduce maternal mortality. Methods The death assessment panel reviewed 163 cases of maternal mortality data in Sichuan province from 2015 to 2016 in accordance with "twelve grid method" of the World Health Organization(WHO).The findings were descriptively analyzed. Results Provincial level had completed 163 cases of maternal death review, and it suggested that obstetric hemorrhage, pregnancy induced hypertension, venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, heart disease, amniotic fluid embolism were the five leading causes of maternal mortality in Sichuan province.Among the 163 evaluated death cases, death could be avoided in 124 cases(76.07%) and death was unavoidable in 39 cases(23.93 %).According to the first influencing factors, among 124 cases of avoidable deaths in medical records, the death of 67 cases(54.03%) was caused by medical staff knowledge and skills, ranking first, including the county(37.90%) and township(5.65%);the death of 57 cases was caused by the personal family, accounting for 45.97%.Conclusion It's important for the reduction of maternal mortality in Sichuan province to strengthen standardized management of high-risk pregnant women, ensure the timely supply of blood resources in remote areas, and enhance the training of emergency medical knowledge for obstetric medical personnel.

OBJECTIVETo study the mortality of children under five and the causes of death together with related trend of dynamics, from 2001 to 2013 in Sichuan province.
METHODSUsing the Children Death Monitoring Network under five in Sichuan province to obtain basic data. Descriptive statistics and chi-square were used to describe the mortalities in children and infants as well as the causes of death, in both rural and urban areas of Sichuan province.
RESULTSIn Sichuan province, the mortality of children under five decreased from 35.30‰ in 2001 to 11.77‰ in 2013. In 2013, mortality in the rural areas was 2.37 times more than that in the urban area. The proportion of neonatal deaths among the mortality in children under five was 44.72%. Pneumonia, congenital heart diseases and premature or low birth weigh were the top three causes of death for children under five. Among them, the top three causes of death for urban area were congenital heart disease, drowning, and premature or low birth weight/birth asphyxia. Meanwhile, the top three causes of death in rural areas were pneumonia, premature birth/low birth weight and birth asphyxia. Overall, the mortality rates of birth asphyxia, pneumonia and low birth weight gradually decreasd but drowning, diarrhea and traffic accidents fluctuated.
CONCLUSIONThe mortality of children under five in Sichuan province was 13‰, which had already met the goal set for the year 2020. However, reducing the mortality in rural areas, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas seemed the main part of the future endeavor while focus of prevention should be adjusted according to the causes of death.

Incorporation of multiple functions into one nanoplatform can improve cancer diagnostic efficacy and enhance anti-cancer outcomes. Here, we constructed doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded silk fibroin-based nanoparticles (NPs) with surface functionalization by photosensitizer (N770). The obtained nanotheranostics (N770-DOX@NPs) had desirable particle size (157 nm) and negative surface charge (-25 mV). These NPs presented excellent oxygen-generating capacity and responded to a quadruple of stimuli (acidic solution, reactive oxygen species, glutathione, and hyperthermia). Surface functionalization of DOX@NPs with N770 could endow them with active internalization by cancerous cell lines, but not by normal cells. Furthermore, the intracellular NPs were found to be preferentially retained in mitochondria, which were also efficient for near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence imaging, photothermal imaging, and photoacoustic imaging. Meanwhile, DOX could spontaneously accumulate in the nucleus. Importantly, a mouse test group treated with N770-DOX@NPs plus NIR irradiation achieved the best tumor retardation effect among all treatment groups based on tumor-bearing mouse models and a patient-derived xenograft model, demonstrating the unprecedented therapeutic effects of trimodal imaging-guided mitochondrial phototherapy (photothermal therapy and photodynamic therapy) and chemotherapy. Therefore, the present study brings new insight into the exploitation of an easy-to-use, versatile, and robust nanoplatform for programmable targeting, imaging, and applying synergistic therapy to tumors.
