1.Hippocampal neuronal damage and its possible mechanism in status epilepticus

Objective To investigate hippocampal neuronal damage and dynamic change of α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionic acid (AMPA) receptor subunit GluR2 in status epilepticus, to find out whether GluR2/glyceral dehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) interaction has any change.Methods Male Wistar rats (62 cases) were induced to status epilepticus by using LiC1-pilocarpine.The 62 rats were divided into 1 h (6 cases),6 h (12 cases), 24 h (12 cases),72 h (12 cases)and 7 d (20 cases)after status epilepticus.At the same time, the healthy control group (12 cases) was established.Morphologic changes of hippocampus and the amount of apoptotic cells in healthy control and SE model groups at different time points (6 h, 24 h, 72 h, 7 d) (6 cases each group) after status epilepticus were quantified by adopting Nissl staining and terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP-biotin nick end-labeling staining respectively.Expressions of GluR2 in healthy control and SE model groups at 1 h,6 h,24 h,72 h and 7 d (6 cases each group) after status epilepticus were detected by using Western blot.Co-precipitation and Western blot techniques were used to investigate whether the GluR2/GAPDH interaction in the hippocampus was increased.Results Compared with the healthy control group, the number of nerve cells in the hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions was significantly reduced at all studied time points(F =30.866,24.043, all P <0.05).Apoptotic cells in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 regions were significantly increased at 24 h,72 h and 7 d after status epilepticus (F =84.762,52.574, all P < 0.01).GluR2 at 1 h,6 h after status epilepticus was equal to that of the control group (P > 0.05), but it was shown to be significantly down-regulated at other studied time points (F =76.506,P < 0.01);when compared with the healthy control group,the GluR2/GAPDH interaction was significantly up-regulated in the hippocampus at 72 h after status epilepticus (t =7.029, P < 0.05).Conclusions Status epilepticus can lead to neuronal damage in the hippocampus.Down-regulation of GluR2 and increase of the GluR2/GAPDH complex formation might be one of the mechanisms involved in hippocampal neuronal damage.
2.Investigation and Analysis of Nosocomial Infection of ICU in a class A tertiary general hospital in ZhuHai during 2013~2014

Objective To explore the causes of nosocomial infections in ICU as to provide scientific evidence for the corresponding intervention measures.Methods The retrospective survey was used to investigate and analyze the incidence of nosocomial infections in ICU from 2013 to 2014.Results The total of 1225 patients investigated,182 patients suffered from nosocomial infections and the nosocomial infections rate was 14.86%.The etiology of ICU specimen was 95.22%.Gram negative bacilli,Gram positive bacteria and fungi,which accounted for 69.16%,18.22% and 12.62% respectively.The main infection site were respiratory tract,blood and urinary tract,which accounted for 70.43%,11.30% and 4.78% respectively.Conclusion The hospital infection rate of ICU in our hospital is kept the same level of the hospital in the same area.Etiology specimens rate comply with national standards.Main pathogens are gram negative bacilli,and the main site of infection is respiratory.
3.Weight-reducing Drug-induced Adverse Drug Reactions:Analysis of 462 Cases

OBJECTIVE:To study the adverse drug reactions(ADRs)induced by weight-reducing drugs and to provide references for rational administration in clinics.METHODS:Classification statistic and analysis were conducted on462cases with weight-reducing drug-induced ADRs reported in62kinds of domestic and overseas medicinal periodicals published during the period of1980~2004.RESULTS:With pseudo-5-HTA appetite-suppressing drugs showing the high incidence of ADRs,which stood at36.36%of the total.Multi-systems were involved in ADRs,with the cardiovascular system showing the highest proportion(53.68%).The prognostic mortality accounted for18.61%of the total.CONCLUSION:ADRs induced by weight-reducing drugs were associated with many factors,to avoid the occurrences of which,medical workers should give more directions and monitoring on administration of drugs.
4.Combined treatment with probiotics and fructooligosaccharides in a mouse model of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and its possible mechanism

Objective To investigate the effectiveness of Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 combined with fructooligosaccharides (FOS) in the treatment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in a mouse model and to analyze the possible mechanism.Methods Fifty male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into five groups and respectively given normal diet (ND group), high-fat diet (HFD group), HFD containing Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 (HFD+L) (2.2×109 CFU/ml), HFD containing FOS (HFD+FOS) (4 g/kg per day) and HFD containing Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 and FOS for 16 consecutive weeks.Levels of triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and diamine oxidase (DAO) in serum samples from each group were measured.Expression of tight-junction proteins (Claudin-1 and Occludin), p38 and phosphorylated p38 (p-p38) in intestinal tissues were analyzed.Results Compared with the HFD group, the HFD+FOS+L group showed decreased levels of TC, TG, LDL, LPS and DAO in serum samples, but increased serum HDL level (P<0.05).Moreover, combined treatment with Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 and FOS alleviated liver lipid deposition, significantly increased the expression of Claudin-1 and Occludin in intestine and inhibited the phosphorylation of p38 (P<0.05).Conclusion Lactobacillus paracasei N1115 combined with FOS may increase the expression of Claudin-1 and Occludin through inhibiting the phosphorylation of intestinal p38, which is conducive to maintaining the intestinal mucosal barrier integrity and alleviating NAFLD.
5.Urban PM2.5 in Guangzhou induces apoptosis of PC-12 cells

Objective To investigate the toxicity of urban PM2.5 in Guangzhou on PC-12 cells.Methods PM2.5 was collected in Guangzhou city.PC-12 cells were cultured in vitro and divided into several groups,including the control group,PM2.5 groups with different concentrations and NAC pretreated group (pretreaed with 10 μmol/mL NAC followed with 100 μg/mL PM2.5 exposure).Cells were incubated with indicated stimulator for 24 h,then cell viability was checked with cell counting Kit-8 assay,the level of intracellular ROS was labeled using H2DCFDA fluorescence probe,cell apoptosis was measured by the flow cytometry and the expression of apoptosis-related proteins,including Cytochrome C,Caspase 9,Caspase 3 and PARP,were detected by Western Blot assay.Results PM2.5 has a strong toxicity on PC-12 cells when its concentration is over 25 μg/mL.After exposure for 24 h,the cell viability was markedly decreased.The results of flow cytometry and Western blot assay showed that PM2.5 enhanced the apoptosis of PC-12 cells with the upregulatios of Cytochrome C,Caspase 9,Caspase 3 and PARP.Pretreatment with NAC could significantly diminish PM2.5-induced PC-12 cell toxicity,decreased ROS generation and apoptosis of PC-12 cells,with the down regulations of apoptosis-related proteins.Conclusion PM2.5 can cause apoptosis of PC-12 cells by inducing oxidative stress,upregulating the Cytochrome C expression and activating Caspase9/3,which may be one of the mechanisms underlying PM2.5-induced neurotoxicity.
6.shinyChromosome:An R/Shiny Application for Interactive Creation of Non-circular Plots of Whole Genomes

Non-circular plots of whole genomes are natural representations of genomic data aligned along all chromosomes. Currently, there is no specialized graphical user interface (GUI) designed to produce non-circular whole genome diagrams, and the use of existing tools requires considerable coding effort from users. Moreover, such tools also require improvement, including the addition of new functionalities. To address these issues, we developed a new R/Shiny application, named shinyChromosome, as a GUI for the interactive creation of non-circular whole genome diagrams. shinyChromosome can be easily installed on personal computers for own use as well as on local or public servers for community use. Publication-quality images can be readily generated and anno-tated from user input using diverse widgets. shinyChromosome is deployed at http://150.109.59.144:3838/shinyChromosome/, http://shinyChromosome.ncpgr.cn, and https://yimingyu.shinyapps.io/shinyChromosome for online use. 7.Lymphoma mimicking Beh?et's disease:case report and literature review

Objective To study the clinical char acteristics and outcome of two lymphoma patients mimicking Beh?et's disease. Methods Lymphoma was diagnosed in two patients mimicking Beh?et's disease referred to our Department in 2015. A search on published similar cases in Chinese database and the Pubmed was also performed and then analyzed. Results Eight patients were indentified in this pooled analysis, six of which were non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). All of the eight cases presented with cutaneous lesion, seven cases with fever, seven cases with oral ulceration and six cases with orogenital ulceration, respectively. Ocular involvement was present in four of the eight cases, two were with a positive pathergy test. Among feverish patients, six were moderate or high fever, four were high fever, one was low-grade fever. Neutropenia was found in four patients, and lymphocytoponia in four of five patients with detailed data. All patients fulfilled the 2014 International Criteria for Beh?et's Disease (ICBD) with an average score of (5.8 ±1.5), ranging from 4 to 8. Survival period ranged from one month to 36 months, with an average of 8 months. Conclusion For patients diagnosed as Beh?et's disease are finally diagnosed as lymphoma. For patients with Beh?et's disease present-ation but also present with mediate to high fever, atypical deepseated ulcer, neutropenia or lymphocytoponia, malignancy especially lymphoma should be investigated.
8.Analysis of styryllactones from Goniothalamus cheliensis by UPLC-Q-TOF-MS.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the styryllactone components in Goniothalamus cheliensis Hu (Annonaceae).
METHODUPLC-Q-TOF-MS was used to identify the main styryllactone components in G. cheliensis. The chromatographic separation was performed on ACQU ITY UPLC BEH C18 column and eluted by actonitrile and 0.1% acetic acid in water gradiently. The mass spectrometer equipped with electrospray ionization souce was used as detector under the positive ion modes.
RESULTTwelve styryllactons were identified based on their MS data and published literatures, and the MS fragmentation regularity of the styryllactones was also proposed.
CONCLUSIONIt is an accurate and effective method to obtain the structural information of styryllactones.

9.Effect of the LEMON method in predicting patients with difficult airway

Objective To evaluate the effect of the LEMON method in predicting difficult air-way.Methods A total of 1 528 patients scheduled for elective surgery requiring tracheal intubation under general anaesthesia,680 males and 848 females,aged 18-83 years,ASA physical status Ⅰ orⅡ,were enrolled in the study.We used the LEMON method to assess airway conditions before an-aesthesia and recorded the scores.The primary end point was difficult tracheal intubation.The sec-ondary end point was difficult laryngoscopy.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve analysis and the area under the curve (AUC)were used to evaluate the clinical effect of the LEMON mothod. Results There were 37 cases with difficult tracheal intubation and 106 cases with difficult laryngosco-py.The incidence of difficult tracheal intubation and difficult laryngoscopy were 2.4% and 6.9%,re-spectively.The area under the curve of the LEMON method for predicting difficult laryngoscopy and difficult tracheal intubation were 0.884 (95% CI 0.867-0.899)and 0.934 (95% CI 0.921-0.946), respectively.Conclusion The LEMON method has good clinical effect in predicting difficult airway.
10.Anxiety and associated factors among medical college students during COVID-19 epidemic

Objective:
To analyze anxiety and its influencing factors of medical college students during the epidemic of COVID-19, so as to provide theoretical basis for targeted mental health promotion.
Methods:
Participants were selected through convenient sampling in 2 medical colleges, and general situation questionnaires, anxiety self rating scale(SAS), were csuected through questionnaire stars among to 6 276 medical college students anonymously through online platforms such as WeChat and QQ during the COVID-19 epidemic.
Results:
SAS scores of medical students was(38.52±7.76), anxiety detection rate was 8.9%. Anxiety detection rate varied significantly by gender, the frequency of protection alerting by the counselor, college level, residence, self reported health status, confirmed cases in the community, personal attention, disinfection, perceived risk of infection,as well as panic in the outbreak of COVID-19 (all P <0.05). Multivariate Logistic analysis showed that undergraduate( OR = 1.25 ), high perceived risk of infection( OR =1.71); extreme panic ( OR =2.75) were associated with high detection rate of anxiety. Female students( OR =0.62), rural residents( OR =0.80), moderate health status( OR =0.06), in good health( OR =0.11), in excellent health( OR =0.30); know or don t know there were COVID-19 patients in their residential areas( OR =0.67), close attention to COVID-19 1-2 times/d( OR = 0.47 ), or frequently( OR =0.38); moderate inevitable disinfection( OR =0.53), few inevitable disinfection ( OR =0.32) were associated with low detection rate of anxiety.
Conclusion
During the epidemic of COVID-19, anxiety among the medical college students was high, which varies by gender and college level. Psychological adjustment, appropriate attention and positive attitude towards COVID-19 should be promoted among medical college students. School counsellors should pay more attention and care to students while providing COVID-19 information through various ways.
