Objective To investigate the correlation between QRS amplitudes and left ventricular wall thickness in autopsy specimens of elderly men. Methods The data of autopsy cases in our hospital since 1990 were retrospectively analyzed. The cases with QRS duration≥0.12 s and the pacing electrocardiogram were excluded.QRS amplitudes of standard 12-lead electrocardiography in 3 months before death were measured and the correlation between QRS amplitudes and left ventricular wall thickness was analyzed in the elderly men. Results Correlations were found between the amplitudes of the R waves in leads V5 ,V6, Ⅰ ,aVL[(1.1±0.7) mV, (0.95±0.6) mV, (0.44±0.3)mV and(0.35±0.3)mV] and left ventricular wall thickness[(13.6±5.4)mm;r=0.22,0.14,0.22,0.23,all P<0.05], and between the combination of QRS amplitudes SV1 +RV5 or RV6(1.9±1.2) mV] and left ventrieular wall thickness [(13.8± 5.4) mm; r = 0.23, P < 0.05].The correlationbetween the combination of QRS amplitudes (SV1 + RV5 or RV6 ) and left ventricular wall thickness was the strongest in 60-79 years old cases (r=0.48, P<0.01) ,and was decreased in 80-89 years old cases (r= 0.23, P<0.05).There was no correlation between the combination of QRS amplitudes (SV1+RV5or RV6) and left ventricular wall thickness in 90-101 years old cases (r= 0.03, P> 0.05).Conclusions Electrocardiogram is a reliable method for diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy in elderly men aged < 90 years.

The modern literatures on the diseases treated with acupuncture at Shenmen (HT 7) were collected. Using literature statistical analysis in bibliometrics, the common compatibility of Shenmen (HT 7) and the disease spectrum were analyzed so as to provide the references of the diseases that can be treated with acupuncture at Shenmen (HT 7). It was found that 39 kinds of diseases and symptoms, mainly nerve system disedses, could be treated with acupuncture at Shenmen (HT 7), including insomnia, depression, anxiety and dementia. Shenmen (HT 7) was seldom used alone. Instead, it was commonly used along with Baihui (GV 20), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Neiguan (PC 6), Sishencong (EX-HN 1) and Taicong (LR 3).

5.Thinking about building a clinical syndrome differentiation system of acupuncture and moxibustion.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2008;28(8):551-553
Meridian and collateral theory is the core of acupuncture theory. Simple using the syndrome differentiation system of internal medicine of TCM in clinical practice of acupuncture and moxibustion is difficult to reflect the core of acupuncture theories and characters of clinical acupuncture treatment. The establishment of clinical syndrome differentiation system of acupuncture should base on characters and laws of acupuncture and take the syndrome differentiation according to meridian and collateral theories as main body, syndrome differentiation according to location as key, syndrome differentiation according to eight principles as guidance, syndrome differentiation according to zang-fu theory as complementarity, and pay attention to application of acupoint specificity in clinic, so as to reflect unique character of acupuncture theory and insure the veracity of syndrome differentiation of acupuncture and efficacy of acupuncture treatment.

Objective:To explore influence of health education on quality of life and compliance in community pa‐tients with coronary heart disease (CHD) .Methods :A total of 83 community CHD patients were selected and ran‐domly divided into routine treatment group (n=38 ,received routine treatment of CHD ) and health education group (n=45 ,received CHD health education based on routine treatment ) .Score of Seattle angina questionnaire (SAQ) after intervention ,therapeutic compliance and incidence rate of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) with‐in six months were compared between two groups .Results:Compared with routine treatment group after interven‐tion ,there were significant rise in each item score and total score of SAQ [total score ,(54.3 ± 7.2) scores vs .(65.4 ± 7.5) scores] ,P<0.05 all;and therapeutic compliance also significantly rose (good rate ,52.6% vs .77.8% ) in health education group , P< 0.05. After six‐month follow‐up ,total incidence rate of MACE in health education group was significantly lower than that of routine treatment group (8.9% vs .26.3% ) , P< 0.05. Conclusion:Health education can significantly improve quality of life ,compliance and prognosis in community patients with cor‐onary heart disease ,which is worth clinical extending and use .

Objecttve To explore the value of electrocardiographic(ECG)Cornell criteria for detecting left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH)in elderly Chinese men. Methods Since 1990,244 autopsies were performed in our hospital in elderly men,LVH was determined in these autopsy hearts and correlated to EGG LVH signs recorded within 3 months before death according to Comer(Sv3+RIvL)and Sokolow-Lyon criteria(Svl+Rvs or RV6).The reference value of Comell criteria was obtained based on valUes from autopsied healthy hearts, the sensitivity and specificity of Cornell and Sokolow-Lyon criteria for detecting left ventricular hypertrophy in these eldedy men were talculated. Results There were significantly correlations between QRS amplitudes of Cornell and Sokolow-Lyon criteria and autopsy left ventricular wall thickness in tllese hearts. The reference value of Comer criteria(SV3+RaVL)was 2.9 mV.The sensitivity of Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell criteria for detecting LVH Wag 25.4%and 34.3%(P<0.05 vs Sokolow-Lyon criteria),respectively.Condusion Voltage(SV3+R.RavL)≥2.9 mV might be a suitable diagnostic value for detecting left ventricular hypertrophy in Chinese elderly men.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2008;9(5):363-370
We characterized yield-relevant characters and their variations over genotypes and environments (locations and years) by examining two rice varieties (9746 and Jinfeng) with high yield potential. 9746 and Jinfeng were planted in two locations of Shanghai, China, during 2005 and 2006. The results show that there was a large variation in grain yield between locations and years. The realization of high yield potential for the two types of rice was closely related to the improved sink size, such as more panicles per square meter or grains per panicle. Stem and leaf biomasses were mainly accumulated from tillering stage to heading stage, and showed slow decline during grain filling. Meanwhile, some photosynthetic characters including net photosynthesis rate (Pn), leaf area index (LAI), specific leaf area (SLA), fluorescence parameter (maximum quantum yield of PSII, Fv/Fm), chlorophyll content (expressed as SPAD value), as well as nutrient (N, P, K) uptake were also measured to determine their variations over genotypes and environments and their relationships with grain yield. Although there were significant differences between years or locations for most measurements, SLA at tillering and heading stages, Fv/Fm and LAI at heading stage, stem biomass at heading and maturity stages, and leaf nitrogen concentration at tillering and heading stages remained little changed, indicating their possible applications as selectable characters in breeding programs. It was also found that stem nitrogen accumulation at tillering stage is one of the most important and stable traits for high yield formation.

Mai-Lan LIU ; Fang ZENG ; Hua-Bin ZHENG ; Ying LI ; Fan-Rong LIANG
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2012;32(5):452-454
Through review of the major databases in English and Chinese, it is found that there is an absence of articles on special coverage of compliance of research fellows and testees in acupuncture clinical trials. Therefore, the author proposed (1) The compliance of research fellows should be guaranteed through proper work division with reasonable, standard and strict research designation as well as comprehensive systems of selection, supervision and estimation. (2) The compliance of testees should be guaranteed through enhancing of the right to know, improving of the medical environment and constructing a better doctor-patient relationship. Therefore, the compliance of clinical trials can be improved, the quality of clinical research enhanced and the reliability of the research results can be guaranteed.
