The number of people with physical disabilities is increasing year by year, and the trend of population aging is more and more serious. In order to improve the quality of the life, a control system of accessible home environment for the patients with serious disabilities was developed to control the home electrical devices with the voice of the patients. The control system includes a central control platform, a speech recognition module, a terminal operation module, etc. The system combines the speech recognition control technology and wireless information transmission technology with the embedded mobile computing technology, and interconnects the lamp, electronic locks, alarms, TV and other electrical devices in the home environment as a whole system through a wireless network node. The experimental results showed that speech recognition success rate was more than 84% in the home environment.

BACKGROUND:Sodium butyrate, a histone deacetylase inhibitor, can inhibit cell proliferation, and induce apoptosis and differentiation of various cancer cells. However, the role of sodium butyrate combined with tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) on lung cancer stem cells remains unclear. OBJECTIVE:To explore the effect of sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL on biological behaviors of lung cancer stem cells. METHODS:Magnetic bead separation was used to separate lung cancer stem cells (CD133+) from human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. After the lung cancer stem cells were treated with simple DMEM/F12, DMEM/F12 containing sodium butyrate (5 mmol/L), TRAIL (50 μg/L) or sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL, the cell proliferation within 96 hours of culture was determined by MTT assay; the apoptosis within 24 hours of culture was measured by flow cytometry; the cell migration within 48 hours of culture was detected by cell scratch test; the expression levels of pluripotent transcription factors (Oct4, Sox2 and Nanog) within 48 hours of culture were detected using western blot analysis. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The CD133+ lung cancer stem cells were successfully enriched from human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. MTT assay showed that sodium butyrate and TRAIL significantly inhibited the proliferation of lung cancer stem cells (P< 0.05), and the combination effect was even stronger (P < 0.05). Results from flow cytometry analysis and scratch test showed that sodium butyrate or TRAIL induced apoptosis and inhibited cell migration of lung cancer stem cells (P < 0.05), and the combination of sodium butyrate and TRAIL showed a stronger effect (P < 0.05). In addition, the expression levels of Oct4, Sox2 and Nanog were significantly down-regulated by sodium butyrate (P < 0.05), TRAIL or sodium butyrate combined with TRAIL, and the combination effect was stronger (P < 0.05). In conclusion, sodium butyrate and TRAIL have synergistic effects on lung cancer stem cells, indicating a new way for treatment of lung cancer.

Galanin is a peptide with wide-ranging effects, especially within the central, peripheral nervous system and endocrine system. Many tumors of neuroendocrine origin, and also an increasing number of non-neuroendocrine cancers, have been shown to express galanin and/or its receptors.Expression of galanin peptide has been detected in pheochromocytoma, squamous cell carcinoma, pituitary adenoma, gastrointestinal cancers and so on.Galanin peptide plays an important role in tumori-genesis and progression of many kinds of tumors. Therefore, studying the roles of galanin and its receptors are helpful for diagnosis and treatment of tumors.

Allergic rhinitis and rhinosinusitis often complicate with asthma, and their relationship has long been investigated. From the view of epidemiology, all of these three diseases have higher prevalence, complicate with each other, are risk factors and prognostic factors for each other.Besides, they share common in anatomy and pathophysiology. In this paper, the interrelationship among allergic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis and asthma in pathogenesis is discussed.

To explore the clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary thromboembolism associated with protein C (PC)/protein S (PS) deifciency. Two male patients 29 and 26 years old diagnosed with PC deifciency and/or PS deifciency were retrospectively analyzed and related literatures were reviewed. The most common symptoms were pain in the lower limbs with chest pain or decreased vision. Color dopper lfow imaging (CDFI) showed lower deep venous phlebothrombosis. Multislice CT angiography (CTA) revealed pulmonary embolism. The level of serum homocysteine (HCY) increased and the level of plasma PC/PS content decreased to PC 57.4%, and PS 28.9%in patient 1, while PS 33.4%in patient 2. Poor routine anticoagulant response was observed. After the diagnosis of PC/PS deficiency, vitiamin B6 and B12 anticoagulant therapy was added, and the symptoms in the patients improved significantly. Congenital thrombophilia should be taken into consideration for young patients with lower deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism which occur recurrently without obvious predisposing causes before 40. Plasma PC/PS concentrations or activity help a lot in the diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To investigate the effects of hepatocyte growth factor(HGF) on proliferation and collagen synthesis induced by angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ)in SD rat cardiac fibroblasts(CFbs),and determine the role it plays in hypertensive ventricular remodeling. Methods CFbs in SD rat were cultured in vitro and treated with different concentrations of AngⅡ and/or HGF.Collagen type Ⅰ synthesis of CFbs was measured by Western blotting, and proliferation of CFbs was detected by MTT assay. Results AngⅡ promoted collagen synthesis and proliferation in CFbs in a certain concentration range, which can be significantly inhibited by HGF. ConclusionHGF can inhibit the proliferation and collagen synthesis induced by AngⅡin SD rat CFbs,and may protect against hypertensive ventricular remodeling.
