Objective To investigate the effect of telephone follow-up on peripherally inserted central cathter(PICC) maintenance. Methods Two hundred and eighty-nine patients with PICC in our hospital from January to December 2010 served as the control group, given conventional health education on intubation, another 305 patients with PICC from January to December 2011 were set as the observation group, where telephone call follow-up was done on the basis of conventional health education on intubation. The two groups were compared in terms of timely catheter maintenance,catheter-related complications, accidental extubation and satisfaction.Result The observation group was significantly better than the control group in terms of timely catheter maintenance, catheter-related complications, accidental extubation and satisfaction (allP<0.05).Conclusion Telephone follow-up helps to improve patients compliance with PICC catheter maintenance, effectively control the complications and improve the quality of life and satisfaction degree.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(01):-
The methods for aptamer selection have been modified and developed in recent years. Selection efficiency has been increased due to the improvement in separation of bound and unbound nucleic acids; applicability of aptamers has been improved due to the development of primer-free SELEX and the utilization of short oligonucleotide library; more research requirements have been satisfied due to the functional modifications of aptamer selection methods. All the methodological advances enhance the potential value of aptamers in basic researches and clinical applications.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(02):-
Objective To observe the changes of osteoblasts and vascularization during osteogenesis by tissue engineering technique under the electron microscope and study the feasibility of improving vascularization of the tissue engineering bone by using the small intestine submucosa(SIS) as the scaffold. Methods The bone mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs) were isolated by using the gradient centrifuge method.BMSCs were seeded in the SIS.The scaffold-cell constructs were cultured in vitro for two weeks. There were no cells on the SIS as control. They were implanted subcutaneously in the dorsa of the athymic mice. The implants were harvested after(in vivo) incubation for 4,8 and 12 weeks. The changes of osteoblasts and vascularization were observed under the transmission electron microscope and the scanning electron microscope. Results The BMSCs grew quite well.BMSCs differentiated on the surface of the SIS and secreted a great deal of extracellular matrices. The scaffold-cell constructs formed a lot of bone and vessels in vivo. The scaffold degraded after 12 weeks. No osteoblasts but vascularization and fibroblasts were observed as control. Conclusion SIS can be used as the scaffold for constructing tissue engineering bone as it can improve the formation of bone and vessels in vivo.

Acute bulbar palsy is considered an extremely rare manifestation of neuromuscular disorder in thyrotoxicosis. It happens abruptly and progresses quickly, sudden onset of dysphagia is common. It will endanger patient's life without proper treatment. The definite treatment of acute bulbar palsy in hyperthyroidism is to restore the euthyroid state. The dysphagia usually resolves within 3 to 4 weeks. In this article a case of thyrotoxicosis with acute bulbar palsy in reported herewith to call attention to the diagnosis and treatment of this disorder.

The AC impedance of human hepatoma SMMC-7721 cells were measured in our laboratory by Agilent 4294A impedance analyzer in the frequency range of 0.01-100 MHz. And then the effect of hematocrit on electrical impedance characteristics of hepatoma cells was observed by electrical impedance spectroscopy, Bode diagram, Nyquist diagram and Nichols diagram. The results showed that firstly, there is a frequency dependence, i.e., the increment of real part and the imaginary part of complex electrical impedance (δZ', δZ"), the increment of the amplitude modulus of complex electrical impedance (δ[Z *]) and phase angle (δθ) were all changed with the increasing frequency. Secondly, it showed cell volume fraction (CVF) dependence, i. e. , the increment of low-frequency limit (δZ'0, δ[Z*] 0), peak (δZ"(p), δθ(p)), area and radius (Nyquist diagram, Nichols diagram) were all increased along with the electric field frequency. Thirdly, there was the presence of two characteristic frequencies: the first characteristic frequency (f(c1)) and the second characteristic frequency (f(c2)), which were originated respectively in the polarization effects of two interfaces that the cell membrane and extracellular fluid, cell membrane and cytoplasm. A conclusion can be drawn that the electrical impedance spectroscopy is able to be used to observe the electrical characteristics of human hepatoma cells, and therefore this method can be used to investigate the electrophysiological mechanisms of liver cancer cells, and provide research tools and observation parameters, and it also has important theoretical value and potential applications for screening anticancer drugs.

Objective To examine the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of dobutamine stress quantitative tissue doppler imaging(DSE+TDI) for detecting CAD in the elderly patients. Methods Totally 98 patients underwent DSE+ TDI,and completed coronary angiography (CAG) in two weeks.Peak tissue velocity (Vpeak),peak tissue tracking (Dpeak),peak strain rating (SRpeak),peak strain (Speak)in different dobutamine stress stations were measured and analyzed during systolic period in mid-segments of left ventricle walls. Results In comparison of CAG,the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of DSE+ TDI for detection CAD in the elderly patients showed that Vpeaks were 82.3%,61.7%,72.4%,Dpeak 82.4%,59.5%,77.4%,SRpeak 71.7%,82.2%,78% and Speak 78.6%,72.3%,74.7%,respectively.All the adverse effects during tests were mild and transient. Conclusions Quantitative dobutamine stress tissue doppler imaging is a safe, effective and non-invasive technique and has higher sensitivity and specificity for detecting CAD in the elderly patients.
