1.STUDIES ON THE POLYSACCHARIDE H3 OF CUSCUTA CHINENSIS LAM
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2001;36(3):192-195
AIM To study the structural characterization of an acidic polysaccharide, H3, isolated from the seeds of Cuscuta chinensis Lam. METHODS Both chemical (such as sugar component analysis, methylation analysis, reduction of uronic acid, partial acidic hydrolysis, etc.) and spectral analysis (1HNMR, 13CNMR, IR, etc.) were used to investigate the structural characterization of H3. RESULTS The molecular weight of H3 was estimated to be more than 1.0×106. The analytical results of sugar components indicated that H3 composed of Rha, Ara, Gal, and Gal A. Methylation analysis, partial acidic hydrolysis and 1H, 13CNMR further identified the linkages and sequence of the residues of H3. CONCLUSION These results suggest that H3 is a highly branched heteropolysaccharide with structure elucidation for the first time.
2.Practice in accelerating hospital construction in a distressed county
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(06):-
An issue that has to be settled urgently is how to accelerate hospital construction in a distressed county. Specific measures may include: ①clarifying the orientation of development on the basis of an analysis of the status quo; ②speeding up infrastructure construction while doing a good job of planning for the hospital area; ③raising funds from a variety of sources so as to purchase facilities urgently needed in medical treatment; ④taking vigorous steps for intensional building and personnel cultivation, such as formulating criteria for post assumption, with the backing of economic policies, selecting 12 to 15 people each year for higher training in advanced areas, and striving for support from big hospitals in the provincial capital; ⑤adopting integrated management and amplifying rules and regulations; ⑥striving for preferential policies and support from higher authorities: for instance, conformity between hospital construction and municipal planning alone saved over 3 million yuan of funds and the county government raised over 6 million yuan of funds for the hospital.
3.Current status of tissue engineering in urology
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(09):-
Tissue engineering provides urologists a new way to fix or reconstruct the impaired organs.Reconstitution of corporal bodies of penis with engineered tissue substitutes has been applied in animal models. In hypospadias reconstruction, the use of engineered tissue substitutes has been applied clinically. The clinical application of bladder tissue substitutes has been ongoing phase II clinical trial.Great progress has been made in renal replacement therapy with clinical application of human progenitor cells in hemofiltration units, and the engineered intracorporeal renal replacement unit will come true by additional studies. The current status of tissue engineering in clinical practice of urology is reviewed in this paper.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(02):-
Objective To investigate the application value of intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) in living donor liver transplantation(LDLT). Methods In LDLT, IOUS techniques (gray scale ultrasound and color Doppler flow imaging) were adopted in 26 donors and recipients for parenchymal and vascular examinations. The abnormal sonograms were observed, and the anatomic findings of hepatic veins were recorded. All the reanastomosed blood vessels were examined by gray scale ultrasound and color Doppler flow imaging before the operations were completed. Results A hepatic parenchymatous tumor was revealed by IOUS in one donor. Besides, middle hepatic veins in 13 donors and secondary hepatic veins with diameter﹥0.5 cm in 5 donors were confirmed by IOUS. Furthermore, one operation procedure was changed and one hepatic artery stenosis was established according to IOUS findings. Conclusion IOUS is a very useful means in evaluation of parenchymal and vascular conditions of donors and recipients in LDLT, which helps to select the best cross section and provides evidence for the change of surgical procedures.

Objective To investigate the method of reducing the formation of fibrous capsule by means of changing the surface capacility of silicone breast implants. Methods N vinyl pyrrolidone ( N VP),the hydrophilic monomer, was grafted onto the surface of silicone breast implants by 60 C oradiation. 10 rabbits were used in this study and the implants were buried in the bilateral subcutaneous layers of the back of rabbits. The unchanged implants were used as the control group. At various interval, gross and microscopic examinations were made to observe the fiber capsule formation around the implants. Results Compared with the control group, the grafting implants induced slight histological reaction and the thickness of fiber capsule was decreased statistically in every time point ( P

Objective: To investigate the relations among the levels of TNF,TNFR and the frequency of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome(MODS),and to study the possible effect of sTNFR Fc in the treatment of MODS. Methods: Totally 48 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into the control group, the MODS model group and the sTNFR Fc group.MODS group were established by two hit. At the early stage of resuscitation, 0.4 mg/kg of sTNFRp75 Fc was administrated via vein as the sTNFR Fc group. Levels of TNFR1 and TNFR2 expression on the cell membrane of various organs in the 3 groups were analyzed by Western blot. Results: After administration of sTNFRp75 Fc, the functions of the main organs were obviously improved. The morbidity(43.7%) of MODS and the mortality(12.5%) of animals decreased significantly in the sTNFR Fc group compared with model group(100.0% and 50.0%). The serum TNF bioactivity was significantly blocked by TNFR Fc administration. Both TNFR1 and TNFR2 expression in the control group were low while higher in the MODS model group; however, they were decreased significantly in various organs after sTNFRp75 Fc treatment. Conclusion: Our results suggest that TNF ? and TNFR play key roles in the pathogenesis of MODS and sTNFR could reverse the effects of TNF ? and decrease the morbidity of MODS and the mortality of animals in MODS model.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the protective effects of punicosides on alcohol induced acute liver injury in mice and its possible mechanisms as well.
METHODThe 60 mice were randomly divided into normal control, model group, three dose groups of punicosides with low, medium and high, then there is silibinin group. Three dose groups of punicosides and silibinin were given in advance by gavage for 4 weeks, then the mouse model of alcoholic acute liver injury was established. The serum levels of ALT, AST and TG were determined, and the mice were killed to calculate somatic index of liver, thymus as well as spleen. MDA, SOD, GSH-Px and GSH-ST were detected in the liver homogenate. Histopathological changes of the liver were observed by HE staining. The expression of MCP-1 and NF-kappaB in the liver tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTMid and high dose of punicosides reduced the liver index in mice significantly, improved liver steatosis, decreased the level of ALT, AST and TG in serum and the content of MDA in liver homogenate, furthermore the two dose groups increased the activity of SOD, GSH-Px and GSH-ST, inhibited the expression of MCP-1 and NF-kappaB in liver tissue.
CONCLUSIONPunicosides can protect the acute liver damage induced by alcohol.
