Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(16):212-213
BACKGROUND: The discrepancies of the ideal self and the actual self (called as type A in this article), the objective self and the actual self(called as type B), the looking glass-self and the actual self(called as type C) are important study subjects and closely related to health psychology.OBJECTIVE: To probe into relationships between the discrepancies of type A, B, C self-concepts and mental health about Chinese college students, and try to provide scientific basis for mental health education of college students.DESIGN: Sampling investigation and cross-sectional study design based on the college student SETTING: Department of Psychology of Capital Normal University. PARTICIPANTS: From January to March 2002, in Beijing, we randomly chose 337 undergraduates who were of grade 2-3 from 9 classes in China University of Political Science and Law University(97 students), Universityof Petroleum, Beijing(85 students), China Public Security University(103students) and Capital Normal University(52 students). In Shanghai, Shanghai University(150 students from 7 classes in grade 2): In Changchun, Northeast Normal University(120 students from 4 classes in grade 1 -2).The total of participants were 607, but 51 participants were excluded for all kinds of reasons, at last, 556 valid participants took part in this study.METHODS: The self-concept-scale questionnaires was used for this study, including four subscales of the ideal self, the actual self, the object self and the looking-glass-self which were used to measure Chinese undergraduates'self-concept-discrepancies of A, B and C types; symptom checklist-90 scale (called SCL-90) was used to measure undergraduates' mental health. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The self-concept-discrepancies of three types(A, B, C), mental health and their relationships of Chinese college students. RESULTS: ① The descriptive statistics about the discrepancies of self-concepts of three types(A, B, C) of college students: type A (65.0±39.2)discrepancy was bigger than type B(-30.1± 28.2); type B was bigger than type C (-0.11± 24.7); ② Compared to the adult normal of symptom checklist-90(SCL-90), the college students responded to SCL-90 was normai, showing majority of college students were mental healthy; ③ Type A and B discrepancies of college students significantly correlated with 10 factors of SCL-90(P<0.01), whereas the correlation between type C discrepancy and 10 factors of SCL-90 was not significant; ④ Regression analyses predicting SCL-90 showed that A type(β=0.32) discrepancy contributing to SCL-90 was more bigger than type B (β= 0.24), type B was more bigger than type C (β= -0.14).CONCLUSION: The correlation of the discrepancies of the ideal self and the actual self, the discrepancies of the objective self and the actual self withmental health were statistically significant; but the correlationof the discrepancy of the looking-glass-self and the actual self with mental health was not statistically significant.

5. Influences of 4-amino-2-methy cantharidinmide on epileptiform electroencephalogram, GABA and GABAB receptor in convulsive rats
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2012;47(2):108-112
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the anticonvulsion effect of 4-amino-2-methyl cantharidinmide (AMC) and its influences on epileptiform electroencephalogram (EcoG), contents of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and GABAB receptor. METHODS: Rat model of penicillin-induced-convulsion (PIC) was established by intracortical (ic) penicillin (PNC) injection in rat motor cortex. Valproate (VPA) was used as the positive control drug. Convulsion seizure latency and racine behavior study graduations were used as indexes to evaluate the efficacy. RM6240C multi-channel biological signal collection-processing system synchronously recorded EcoG of convulsive rats after intragastric (ig) administration of AMC (25.0, 100.0 mg · kg-1). The effects on convulsion and epileptiform discharge were analyzed. The contents of GABA and the expression of GABAB receptor in the cortex and hippocampus regions of rats were determined by immunohistochemistry technique. RESULTS: AMC at the two doses and VPA could reduce epileptiform activities and discharge and prolong the latencies of epilepsy seizure, compared with the PIC group (P < 0.01). In the rats treated with AMC at low dosage, the GABA contents in cortical and hippocampal regions were higher than those in normal control and model groups, but with no statistics significance (P > 0.05); compared with model control, the expression quantity of hippocampal GABAB receptor protein was significantly increased (P < 0.05), while the increase in cortex was not significantly different (P > 0.05). GABA expression quantity in groups of larger dosage AMC and VPA were respectively higher than that in the normal group and the model group, and the GABAB receptor protein expression quantity also significantly increased (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION AMC can antagonize the convulsion seizure and inhibit the epileptiform discharge induced by penicillin in rats. The anti-convulsion mechanism of AMC is possibly related with increasing GABA content and GABAB receptor expression in cortex and the hippocampus. 10.Bone loss (osteoporosis)induced by retinoic acid in mice and its dose-dependent effects
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(06):-
AIM To study the dose dependent effects on osteoporosis induced by retinoic acid(RA) and to analysis the metabolic characteristics of bone. METHODS Three dosages of retinoic acid were given to the mice for 2 weeks while the body weight(BW) were measured once a week. At the end, femoral dry weight, Bone hydroxyproline, calcium content, Phosphor, Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese and Sulphonium of femora were measured. RESULTS Compared with normal control mice, three dosages of retinoic acid can induce the decrease of femoral dry weight and the short transverse diameter of femoral, Bone hydroxyproline content decreased remarkably, and so did the bone mineral. The Bone HOP and Bone Ca content was coincident with the femoral dry weight, but the lessening of Bone P, Bone Mg, Bone Zn and Bone Mn became inverse ratio with the femoral dry weight, particularly that of the Bone Zn. CONCLUSION Three dosages of retinoic acid in mice can induce osteoporosis with the lessening of bone mass, which characteristics were the losing of Bone HOP and the Bone Ca content in geometric proportion. The levels of Bone P, Bone Mg, and Bone Zn had lost remarkably in the early time, the Bone Zn may play importance function in osteoporosis model induced by retinoic acid.
