Objective To study the changes of interferon ( IFN )- γ ,interleukin(IL)-4 and IL-6 in endometriosis. Method The levels of peripheral blood IFN-γ ,IL-4 and IL-6 in 25 patients with endometriosis (EM group) and 20 normal adults (control group) were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The level of peripheral blood IFN- γ in EM group [(109.64±26.79 ) ng/L] was lower than that in control group [(155.17±30.36) ng/L] (P ＜ 0.05 ), IL-4[(33.52 ± 8.69)ng/L]and IL-6 [(44.12 ± 3.57) ng/L] were higher than those in control group [(22.52 ± 6.54), ( 15.12 ±2.63 )ng/L](P＜0.05 ).The ratio of IFN-γ/II-4(3.27±1.45 ) and IFN- γ/IL-6 ( 1.15 ± 0.56 ) in EM group were significantly lower than those in control group (6.89 ±1.68,2.54 ±1.03)(P ＜0.01 or ＜0.05).Conclusions Th1 cells shift toward Th2 cells in patients with endometriosis. Th1/Th2 ratio may be correlated with the pathogenesis of endometriosis.

The TCM theory of XueyuYundu believes that blood stasis and poison is the fundament of endometriosis. Long term of blood stasis may convert to poison and further aggravate the blood stasis. This article has summarized literatures about poison stasis syndrome and blood stasis syndrome. On this basis, we introduced a self-made prescription, QuyuJiedu Decoction, and the theoretical and laboratory study progress of this decoction, for the purpose of providing a new method for treating endometriosis.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the expression of keratinocyte growth factor(KGF)in middle ear cholesteatoma and to explore the role of KGF on the hyperproliferation of the cholesteatoma epithelium and the formation and development of cholesteatoma. METHODS The specimens from the cholesteatoma tissue of 20 cases and the corresponding normal external ear skin were examined by immunohistochemical S-P method and quantitative analysis. RESULTS In normal ear skin only stroma staining for KGF was positive. In cholesteatoma epithelium staining for KGF was strongly positive and the stroma staining was stronger than that of normal ear skin. The positive rates of the cholesteatoma and normal external ear skin revealed a significant difference. There was a positive correlation between cholesteatoma epithelium staining for KGF and for Ki67 and the coefflcient of correlation was 0.609(P﹤0.01). CONCLUSION There was correlation between the expression of KGF or Ki67 and the ability of reproduction of middle ear cholesteatoma. Local inflammation might promote hyperproliferation of the epithelium of cholesteatoma by regulating the expression of KGF. It suggested that an autocrine stimulation of KGF correlate with the occurrence and development of cholesteatoma .

Objective:To observe changes of sexual hormone level,score for Hamilton depression scale(HAMD) and clinical score for TCM symptoms after treatment of female depression with the principle of soothing the liver and relieving depression,and tonifying the kidney and relieving mental stress.Methods:Sixty cases of female patients of depression were randomly assigned to a treatment group(n=30) and a control group(n=30) according to age and condition of patients.Scores for HAMD and TCM symptoms before and after treatment were recorded and compared in both groups.Serum estradiol(E_2),progestin(P) and prolactin(PRL) levels were determined in the patients of depression and healthy persons.Results:Hormone levels were correlated with HAMD scores and 4 factors of HAMD,and after treatment with the method for soothing the liver and tonifying the kidney,serum E_2 increased (P

According to the relevant literature, combined with the clinical experience of Professor Lianfang, the rule of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of abnormal follicular development was studied. The etiology and pathogenesis, syndrome differentiation and treatment, special formula, the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and other therapy for abnormal follicular development were sorted and summarized.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Kuntai Capsule (KC) on the number of retrieved oocytes, the quality of high-quality oocytes and embryos in in vitro fertilization of poor ovarian response (POR) patients.

METHODSTotally 70 POR patients preparing for in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) were randomly assigned to the observation group and the control group, 35 cases in each group. KC was administered to patients in the observation group in the preparation cycle (i.e., three menstrual cycles before IVF-ET) and during the superovulation process. Those in the control group took placebo during this period. Before and after medication the improvement of Shen yin deficiency syndrome (SYDS) was observed in the two groups. The basal follicle-stimulating hormone (bFSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), the ratio of FSH to LH, and antral follicle count (AFC) were observed. Besides, the E2 level of a single ovum on the day of HCG injection, the number of retrieved oocytes, the high-quality oocyte rate, and the high-quality embryos were observed.

RESULTSCompared with the control group, the SYDS, decreased bFSH and LH levels, increased ACF numbers, the E2 level of a single ovum on the day of HCG injection, the number of retrieved oocytes, high-quality oocytes, and high-quality embryos were superior in the observation group (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in the decreased FSH/LH level (P > 0.05). E2 and AMH increased after medication of KC in the observation group, while they decreased after administration of placebos in the control group. There was statistical difference in the post-pre treatment difference of E2 and AMH between the two groups (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONKC could increase the number of retrieved oocytes, and elevate the quality of occytes and embryos in the IVF-ET.

Good palatability of pediatric drugs improves the accuracy of dosing and adherence to dosing regimens. Many active pharmaceutical ingredients have an undesirable taste, so effective taste masking methods need to be developed to improve the palatability of pediatric medicines. This article mainly introduces the commonly taste masking techniques and taste evaluation methods, and puts forward suggestions on the concerns and general principles of the pharmaceutical evaluation of taste masking effects based on cases, in order to provide reference for the development of drug taste masking technology in children.

BACKGROUND: Rhodiola rosco L acts on anti-aging,anti-fatigue and improving immunity in human body and improves angina pectoris.OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of rhodiola root on heart hemodynamics and myocardial contractility and probe into its mechanism.DESIGN: Observational and controlled based on the experimental animals.SETTING: Department of physiology in a medical university.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed in Laboratory of Cardiac Vessels of Department of Physiology of Guangxi Medical University,from January to April 2001.Thirty New Zealand white rabbits of either sex,weighted varied from 1.9 to 2.3 kg,were randomized into two groups,named as the control(physiological saline 4 mL/kg) and rhodiola sacra SH Fu (nuodikang) group(0.5 g/4 mL · kg-1),15 rabbits in each group. A hundred common wild frogs were employed,weighted varied from 120 to 160 g,randomized into 4 groups, named as the control group of physiological saline,nuodikang of small dosage group(blood concentration 209 mg/L),nuodikang of moderate dosage group(blood concentration 418 mg/L) and nuodikang of large dosage group(blood concentration 627 mg/L),25 frogs in each group.METHODS: ms2000 multiple medium biological signal analysis system was applied,by Straub method,frog heart perfusion specimen in vitro was prepared and the cardiac activity was assayed. The relevant indexes of ventricle activity in rabbits were determined with hemodynamics.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Comparison of hemodynamics changes in rabbits of two groups and the comparison of effects of nuodikang at various dosages on frog heart work in vitro.RESULTS: Myocardial contractility in every nuodikang group was strengthened remarkably compared with the control(F = 8.939, P<0.01 ), the myocardial contractility in nuodikang groups at the dosages of 209 mg/L,418 mg/L and 627 mg/L was in the tendency of increasing,strengthened by 52. 3%,70. 1% and 86.4% respectively. But the significant difference was not apparent in the comparison among experimental groups(P>0.05). The significant difference in frog heart rates among groups was not apparent(P>0.05). Concerning to hemodynamics in rabbits,in nuodikang groups,the maximum increasing rate of pressure in the left ventricle was increased by 22.1% (F = 6.259,P<0.05),the mean pressure of artery was decreased by 8.2% (F = 5.688, P<0.05) . The significant difference in other indexes was not apparent in the comparison between the control and nuodikang groups.CONCLUSION: Nuodikang strengthens myocardial contractility and speeds up myocardial contraction, but does not present remarkable influence on myocardial dilation; simultaneously it reduces the mean pressure of artery.

Along with the improvement of the diagnosis techniques and the popularization of the health examination,the incidence of the thyroid nodule is growing rapidly.The management methods of the nodules depend on the correct diagnosis of the thyroid nodules,which could save the limited resources of the healthcare system.The diagnostic methods of the thyroid nodules developed in recent years are reviewed in this paper.
