Sixteen dogs were allocated to 4 groups in equal number and were fed with Rad ix Rhod od end ri Mollis 0.170, 0.345 and 1.420 g/kg for three months respectively, with one group as control. The results showed that Rad ix Rhod od end ri Mollis can cause focal necrosis, edema, ballooning degeneration and fatty degeneration of liver cells. It can also increase the permeability of glomerulus, and cause edema and even ballooning degeneration of renal tubular epithelial cells. Biochemical analysis showed that GPT and BUN apparently increased. Urine analysis showed that qualitative examination of protein, epithelial cells, white and red blood cells were all positive. It is considered that long-term administration of Rad ix Rhod od end ri Mollis can cause functional and structural damage of liver and kidney, and timely suspension of the drug and treatment may render the damage.

Aim To develop a rapid and inexpensive method for purification of human albumin, a method of immunomagnetic microspheres (IMMS) based on enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)for the purification of human albumin from human serum. Methods Polystyrene magnetic microspheres with carboxyl groups as carriers were prepared, and then the carboxyl groups on the surface of the microspheres were activated by ethylcarbodiimide (EDC). Finally rabbit anti-human serum albumin (HSA) antibodies were covalently bound to it and the complex can specifically capture HSA. After the procedure of capturing HSA, through taking rabbit anti-human albumin protein antibodies as a capture antibody, and goat anti-human albumin protein antibodies as a detection antibody, an ELISA on IMMS was developed, which can determine the recovery yield of HSA from the human serum. Results The result of the experiment was that the recovery of human albumin with IMMS was (86 ± 4) % , and IMMS were reused for two other purifying cycles, the results of which were (69.0 ± 0.6) % and (40.8 ± 0.8) % , and the purity of the product was about 90%. Conclusion The results above prove that the immunomagnetic purifiying strategy was shown to be efficient and offers an new thought for a large scale production of highpurity HSA.

Objective: To confirm whether Biejiajian Pill has the action of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, softening the hard lumps and dispelling the nodes. Methods: The blood stasis model, anti tumor model, the model of collagen and urinary hydroxyproline evacuating from fibrous liver of rat and the other pharmacological models were prepared to confirm the action of the pill. Results: (1) This pill has the absorption of erythrocyte and blood clot of itself. (2) After the pill being given to the rats with cirrhosis, the hepatitisfibrils decreased, the excretion of urinary hydroxyproline increased and the content of collagen of the therapeutics group was less than the control group. All of those suggested that this drug has the action of promoting the degradation of the collagen fiber and reabsorption of the hepatitis collagen. (3) This pill can apparently inhibit the proliferation of S 180 . Conclusion: The drug has the action of promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, softening the hard lumps and dispel the nodes.

Objective To investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of extracts from Garden Balsam seeds in order to provide theoretical basis for rational clinical application. Methods The mouse ear swelling induced by xylene, the body torsion induced by acetic acid or hot plate method, the rat foot swelling induced by egg white and granuloma model were set up to study anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of extracts from Garden Balsam seeds. Results The water extracts at the middle and high doses reduced the body torsion counts of mice (P<0. 05), alleviated the rat toe swelling, but did not affect mice ear swelling. The extracts at the high dose prolonged pain threshold at 60 min (P<0. 01) and 90 min (P<0. 05); the alcohol ex-tracts at the middle and high doses significantly lowered body twisting counts (P<0. 01), attenuated the ear swelling of mice (P<0. 05), remarkably prolonged the pain threshold (P<0. 01)at 30 min, weakened the rat foot swelling, and elevated 60 min pain threshold at the high doses (P<0. 01), but the extracts exerted no effects on the rats granuloma. Conclusion The extracts from Garden Balsam seeds have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
