The veins on the dorsum of the foot have been dissected and observed on 200cases of the Chinese adult lower extremities.The great saphenous vein is the chief draining vessel of the hallux,the toes andthe skin of the dorsum of the foot.The position and the tributaries of this vessel areconstant.Its diameter ranges from 1.9 to 5.0mm,with an average of 3.2mm.The dorsal venous arch is usually single(93%),double arches are seen in 6%,and absent in 1%.According to the form of reflux,the dorsal venous arch may begrouped into five types.In the most common type,the arch is continuous withthe great saphenous vein and the anterior malleolar branch of the small saphenousvein(49.5%).The dorsal metatarsal veins usually drain directly into the dorsal venous arch.Some of the neighboring dorsal metatarsal veins may drain through a commontrunk.The perforating veins on the dorsum of the foot may be divided into threedifferent groups:the anterior malleolar,marginal and intermetatarsal group.Thelatter usually drains into the dorsal venous arch at the base of the first intermeta-tarsal space.The valves of the superficial veins on the dorsum of the foot were also observed.There is no valve in the lateral part of the dorsal venous arch,but there may beone or two valves in its most medial part(66.7%).It appears that the venousblood from the first metatarsal vein usually drains into the great saphenous vein.

The arteries of the foot in one hundred Chinese adult specimens were dissected and examined. 1. The dorsalis pedis artery was absent in 4%, and it originated from an abnormal origin in 5%, its course and relationship with the tendon of the extensor hallucis longus and deep peroneal nerve were also described. 2. The anterior medial and anterior lateral malleolar arteries originated more commonly at the level of the ankle joint, and sometimes they may originate from the dorsalis pedis artery. 3. The origin and number of the medial tarsal artery were variable, but that of the lateral tarsal artery were more constant. 4. The arcuate artery was present in 35%, but only 17% was typical in form, from which the 2nd-4th dorsal metatarsal arteries were giving off. 5. The sources of the dorsal metatarsal arteries were the most variable. The first dorsal metatarsal arteries which arose from dorsal or plantar aspect were similar in percentages. The 2nd-4th dorsal metatarsal arteries often originated from the plantar aspect, but it was not uncommon that they came equally from dorsal and plantar aspects. 6. The artery of the tarsal sinus was usually present, it may be divided into two categories, namely the proximal and the distal artery, with their distinct origins and courses. 7. The arterial trunks in the sole of the foot were more constant. The posterior tibial artery usually branched into its two main branches near the lower border of the laciniate ligament. 8. The lateral plantar artery was greater than the medial in 82%. And 71% of the plantar arch was formed chiefly by the deep plantar branch of the dorsalis pedis artery. 9. The plantar metatarsal arteries originated usually from the plantar arch, sometimes the neighbouring arteries may have a common trunk. The course of the Ist-3rd plantar metatarsal arteries was constant, but that of the 4th may be variable. Finally, some questions about the arteries of the foot, present in previous literatures, were briefly discussed.

Aim To study the antidepressant effects of bioactive compounds from entomogenous fungi(BCEF) in mouse models of depression. Methods The antidepressant effects of Bioactive compounds from entomogenous fungi was examined on the chronic unpredictable stress test, yohimbine induced lethality test, and 5-HTP induced head-twitches test. Results BCEF(50 mg?kg~-1 , ig, qd?21 d)could significantly increase the crossing and rearing score in open-field test. After administration yohimbine 1 h, BCEF 100 mg?kg~-1 group mice mortality rate rising rapidly; BCEF(50,100 mg?kg~-1 ) could distinctly increase the head-twitch number in the 5-HTP induced head-twitches test. Conclusion BCEF has antidepressant effects in depression mouse models. The mechanisms of its antidepressant effects may be related with the reinforcement of central monoamine neurotransmitter especially to 5-HT and NE nerves system.

Objective To evaluate the effects of different concentrations of chloroprocaine on KCNQ2/Q3 channel currents in HEK2936 cells.Methods Human embryonic kidney (HEK293) cells served as an expression system.KCNQ2 and KCNQ3 cDNAs and green fluorescent protein were transfected into HEK293 cells by using lipofectamine.The KCNQ2/Q3 currents were recorded by using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique.Part Ⅰ The transfected HEK293 cells were randomly divided into 4 groups (n =11 each):control group,and 1,10 and 100 mmol/L chloroprocaine groups.The KCNQ2/Q3 channel currents produced by different concentrations of chloroprocaine were recorded under different holding potentials (-40,0 and 40 mV) and the action time was 1 min.Part Ⅱ The transfected HEK293 cells were randomly divided into 2 groups (n =5 each):control group and 10 mmol/L chloroprocaine.The KCNQ2/Q3 channel currents were recorded under different holding potentials (-80-30 mV)and the action time was 1 min.Different test potentials were normalized and fitted to Boltzmann function,and KCNQ2/Q3 channel Ⅰ-Ⅴ curve was then obtained.The activation and deactivation currents were both fitted to a single exponential function and the time constants for current activation and for current deactivation were calculated.Results Part Ⅰ When the holding potential was 40,0 and-40 mV,the suppression rate of KCNQ2/Q3 channel currents in HEK293 cells was higher in 1,10 and 100 mmol/L chloroprocaine groups than in control group (P ＜0.05 or 0.01).Part Ⅱ Compared with control group,the time constant for the current activation at 0 mV of holding potential was prolonged,the time constant for the current deactivation was shortened when the holding potential was-80 mV,and the half-activation voltage of KCNQ2/Q3 channels was increased,the activation curve shifted to the depolarized potentials,and KCNQ2/Q3 channel Ⅰ-Ⅴ curve slope was decreased in 10 mmol/L chloroprocaine group (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Chloroprocaine concentration-dependently suppresses KCNQ2/Q3 channel currents in HEK2936 cells.The KCNQ2/Q3 channel is closed in advance due to KCNQ2/Q3 channel opening delay induced by chloroprocaine thus decreasing the activity of KCNQ2/Q3 channels.

Chemical constituents of 95% ethanol extract of the dried persistent calyx of Physalis pubescens were investigated. By chromatography on a silica gel column and reverse-phase preparative HPLC, 10 compounds were isolated from the dichloromethane fraction. Based on the MS and 1D/2D NMR data, these compounds were identified as 5-O-(E-feruloyl) blumenol (1), isovanillin (2), (E) -ethyl 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl) acrylate (3), 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde(4), 4-methylphenol (5), (E) -methyl cinnamate (6), 7,3',4' trimethoxyquercetin (7), 5,3', 5'-trihydroxy-3,7,4'-trimethoxyflavone(8), danielone (9), and 5,5'-diisobutoxy-2,2'-bifuran (10).

Background Sirius system,a new Scheimpflug camera combined with Placido topography,improved the capability of imaging the anterior eye segment significantly.However,the study of assessing the repeatability and agreement between Sirius and Pentacam is still lack up to now.Objective This study was to evaluate the repeatability and agreement of the anterior ocular segment measuring parameters by Sirius and Pentacam in myopia received laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Methods Thirty-five myopic eyes of 35 patients received LASIK were included in School of Optometry and Ophthalmology Eye Hospital from 2010 May through 2010 July.Corneal power flat keratometry (Kf),step keratometry (Ks),mean keratometry (Km),thinnest corneal thickness(TCT),the location of TCT,anterior chamber depth (ACD) and anterior chamber volume (ACV) were measured by Sirius and Pentacam in all the eyes,respectively.The repeatability of the measuring results were evaluated using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and Cronbach's coefficient alpha (CoA),and the agreement of measuring parameters between Sirius and Pentacam was analyzed using Bland-Altman plot.Results Both Sirius and Pentacam demonstrated high intraobserver repeatability,with all ICC and CoA more than 0.90.No significant differences were found in Kf values and Ks values between the two methods (t =-1.533,-1.750,P＞0.05).Km value was (39.14 ± 1.95) D by Sirius measurement,which was sígnificantly higher than (39.05 ± 1.91) D by Pentacam measurement (t =3.572,P =0.001).The TCT was (457.6 ± 40.9) μm by Sirius method,showing a significant reduce in comparison with (465.4±37.5) μm of Pentacam method (t =-6.689,P＜0.001).A positive correlation was seen in the TCT between the two methods (r=0.988,P＜0.001).The Bland-Alrman plots showed the 95％ CI-21 μm to 6 pm in the TCT value between the two devices.Pairwise comparison of the location of TCT measurements showed significant differences between the two devices (t =-4.132,-5.696,P＜0.001),with a good correlation (r=0.751,0.775) and the 95％ CI (-0.36-0.17 mm,-0.35-0.12 mm).A very good agreement was seen in ACD between the two devices (-0.02-0.12 mm),but the agreement result was not very well in the ACV between the two devices with the 95％ CI (-27.70-6.20 mm3).Conclusions Sirius and Pentacam measurements for anterior ocular segment parameters have a very good repeatability in post-LASIK eyes.In addition,good agreement results are exhibited in corneal power,TCT and ACD between Sirius and Pentacam with an acceptable maximal different value between them.Sirius and Pentacam can be used interchangeably in clinical examination.However,the two devices can not interchangeably for ACV measurement and TCT location.

Objective To investigate the correlation of PICC tip position and weight gaining in very low birth weight infants.Methods We performed a retrospective study using chest X-ray films of very low birth weight infants in NICU who had PICCs inserted in a tertiary hospital.We recorded the tip positions on plain radiographs and calculated the position change,and calculated weight gaining ratio.Spearman regression model was used to analyze the relationship between tip position migration and weight gaining ratio.Results A total of 57 cases of very low birth weight infants were included,containing 246 X-ray films.On the first day of taking X-ray,weight was 0.6-1.46 (1.06±0.25) kg,the median and interquartile spacing are 5(3,7)d.The last time of taking X-ray was(24.0±9.1) dafter PICC placement;weight gaining ratio was 11.8％～114.8％,the median and interquartile spacing are 41.5％ (27.1％,65.3％).All PICCs tip position changed,75％ of which migrated more than 2 vertebrae,50％ of which migrated 3 vertebrae,and the median and interquartile spacing are 3 (1.8,3.5) vertebrae.The distances of tip migration were correlated with weight gaining ratio.With an approximate 2,3 and 4 vertebrae of PICC tip migration,the corresponding weight gaining ratio was about 40％,70％ and 100％.The correlation coefficient between PICC tip position migration and weight gaining ratio was-0.7(P＜0.01),but there was difference in different insertion sites.Conclusion PICC tip position is greatly influenced by weight gaining among very low birth weight infants.By considering the initial placement position,the crucial moment to assess catheter location is at 40％ and 70％ weight gaining ratio.After 100％ weight gaining,PICCs should be removed or replaced.PICCs can easily be affected by bone growth and limb movement,require higher frequency of catheter localization.

Objective To investigate the abnormal expression of proto-oncogene YES-associated protein (YAP) in gastric cancer tissues in the elderly and its correlation with poor prognosis.Methods Clinical data of 80 elderly patients with gastric cancer treated in our hospital from March 2011 to October 2014 were statistically analyzed.Results The positive expression rate of YAP was significantly higher in gastric carcinoma than in adjacent tissues [71.3％ (57/80) vs.13.8％ (11/80),P＜0.05].The positive expression of YAP were significantly associated gastric tumor size,tumor stage,invasion depth and lymph node metastasis (all P＜0.05),but had no correlation with tumor differentiation (P＞0.05).The 5-year survival rate was significantly lower in patients with YAP-positive expression than in patients with YAP-negative expression (P ＜ 0.05),but the differences in 1-year,3-year survival rates were not significant between the two groups (all P＞0.05)The YAP expression,tumor stage,lymph node metastasis were significantly associated with the prognosis of gastric cancer in patients (all P＜0.05).Conclusions YAP-positive expression rate is significantly higher in gastric cancer tissues than in adjacent tissues in the elderly,which indicates poor prognosis of patients with gastric cancer.

In this study, a rapid and sensitive analytical method was developed for the determination of 10 major compounds (procyanidin B1, catechin, procyanidin B2, rutin, isoquercitrin, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, astragalin, quercitrin, quercetin, and kaempferol) in Tetrastigma hemsleyanum by using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) in multiple-reaction monitoring (MRM) mode. UPLC-MS/MS assay with negative ion mode was performed on a Waters CORTECS C18 (2.1 mm x 100 mm, 1.6 μm) with the mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile (A) and 0.1% aqueous formic acid (B) in gradient elution at a flow rate of 0.25 mL · min(-1) and the column temperature was set at 45 °C. Under the optimized chromatographic conditions, good separation for 10 target compounds were obtained including chiral isomer procyanidins B1 and B2 were completely separated within 8.5 min. Satisfactory linearity was achieved with wide linear range and fine determination coefficient (r > 0.996 6), the overall recoveries were ranged from 95.44%-110.40% with the RSD ranging from 2.37%-8.69%. It is the first report about simultaneous analysis of 10 major flavonoids components in Tetrastigma hemsleyanum by using UPLC-MS/MS method, which affords highly sensitive, specific, speedy and efficient method for quality control of Tetrastigma hemsleyanum

ObjectiveTo study the effect of anticoagulant therapy with low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) on coagulation and inflammation markers in sepsis patients.Methods A prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted. Sixty sepsis patients admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) of Zhengzhou University People's Hospital from March 2012 to May 2014 were divided into control group and observation group, with 30 cases in each group. The observations were begun as soon as the diagnosis of sepsis was established, and the observation time was 7 days. All sepsis patients were treated according to the 2008 international sepsis treatment guidelines. Every patient in the observation group was subcutaneously injected with LMWH 0.6 mL on the first day of ICU admission, twice a day for 7 days. The blood from peripheral vein was collected at 1, 3, 5, 7 days of treatment, and CD62p, interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), D-dimmer was determined by immunoturbidimetry, acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ (APACHEⅡ) score was recorded, and incidence of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) was also evaluated.Results There were no significant differences in values of all parameters, including CD62p, D-dimmer, IL-6, TNF-α, and APACHEⅡ score at 1 day of treatment. The values of all parameters in observation group were gradually decreased. CD62p at 3 days of treatment and D-dimmer, IL-6, TNF-α, and APACHEⅡ score at 5 days of treatment were significantly lower than those at 1 day of treatment. The values in the control group were decreased at first and then increased, as D-dimmer, IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly higher on the 5th day than those at 1 day of treatment. Compared with control group, CD62p, D-dimmer, IL-6, TNF-α and APACHEⅡ score on the 7th day of treatment were significantly lowered in observation group [CD62 (μg/L): 22.64±2.88 vs. 31.52±2.81, D-dimmer (g/L): 1.32±0.46 vs. 4.79±0.82, IL-6 (ng/L): 5.84±1.87 vs. 49.64±3.12, TNF-α (ng/L): 21.04±3.15 vs. 130.58±6.26, APACHEⅡ score: 9.71±2.02 vs. 14.17±2.38, allP< 0.05]. Correlation analysis showed that in observation group, CD62p, D-dimmer, IL-6, and TNF-α were positively correlated with APACHEⅡ score (r value was 0.907, 0.868, 0.880, 0.693, respectively, all P=0.000). The incidence of MODS in observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group [26.7% (8/30) vs. 46.7% (14/30),χ2=3.943,P= 0.028].Conclusions LMWH, which was given early in sepsis, can significantly down-regulate the expression of CD62p, D-dimmer, IL-6 and TNF-α, and reduce the incidence of MODS. Some indicators regarding coagulation and inflammation can be used as supplementary indicators to severity scores, and it may be able to improve the accuracy of scoring systems for sepsis.
