Objective To discuss imaging differentiating diagnosis of basal ganglia infarction by summarizing the features of 17 lesions on CT and MRI.Methods Among 17 cases, 6 were children occurred after their injury, and ranged in age from 5 to 11 years old with average 8 years old. Others were adults ranged in age from 53 to 78 years old with average 63 years old. All patients were examined with CT plain scans. 11 cases were underwent MRI and 5 were underwent 1 H MRS.Results 6 lesions in children were all single lateral cases. Among 11 adult lesions, 10 were single lateral and 1 was bilateral case. Basal ganglia infarctions demonstrated hyposignal on T_1WI, hypersignal on T_2WI and hypodense on CT. The lateral ventricles' anterior horns of the same side were pressed and narrow. On 1 H MRS, Lac was obviously observed in all lesions. NAA decreased markedly in 4 lesions and slightly in 1 lesion. 2 basal ganglia infarctions were together with hemorrhage. Conclusion Basal ganglia infarctions were mainly observed in the elder with arteriosclerosis and injured children. Its features on CT and MRI are characteristic, but it is in need of differentiating from basal ganglia lesions caused by other reasons. Marked Lac on 1 H MRS is its character.

Objective To evaluate the effect of progesterone (PROG) on promoting peripheral nerve collateral growth and nerve regeneration after terminolateral neurorrhaphy (TLN). Methods Thirty-six female SD rats were from nine to ten weeks old and weighed from 250 to 270 grams. They were randomly divided into two groups by different drugs they were administrated, the PROG group and the control group. Both groups were subdivide into three groups respectively, PROG four weeks group, PROG eight weeks group, PROG twelve weeks group, control four weeks group, control eight weeks group and control twelve weeks group. There were six subjects in every subgroups. First, both groups were performed ovariectomy. Then, two weeks later, TLN was operated. In the PROG group, the left peroneal nerve was transected, then an 1mm epineukral window was created on the neighbouring. The distal end of peroneal nerve was sutured to the windowed tibial nerve by means of end-to-side attachment. In the control group, nerve TLN was performed as in the PROG group, 0.2ml (10mg/ml) PROG and tea-oil (the solvent of PROG) was injected by subcutaneous injection for days in PROG group and control group respectively. Electrophysiological, histolgicial and morphological examinations were measured at 4,8, and 12 weeks after the operation. Results Regeneration of peroneal nerve occurred in both groups. All the data were analysed by factorial designed analysis of variance. The output demonstrated that there was a signficant difference in the quality of regeneration of peroneal between PROG group and control group (P

Chinese Journal of Forensic Medicine 2017;32(3):281-285
The age of 18 is an important criterion in judicial trial, immigrant and competitive sports. Consequentially, the estimation of age 18 is a key issue in forensic practice and research. The extremitas sternalis claviculae, iliac crest, third molar, and the proximal limb of the limb bone were usually used as indictors of age 18. The results of the previous studies demonstrated that those indictors could be beneficial to the estimation of age 18. The X-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI of different indictors were widely utilized for the estimation of age 18, particularly the thin-layer CT. But due to the non-radiation, MRI will be a trend for forensic age estimation in the future. Whilst in the previous studies, the descriptive analysis was applied for the estimation of age 18, but due to the low statistic efficiency, it is unsuitable for forensic age estimation, and the future studies should pay attention to the high efficiency statistical methods, for instance, the ROC curve or the data mining.
